I suggest just take the first four listed by Hall unless they advise otherwise before the deadline

18,000 on Rod and Rachael Day was the biggest.
Seriously I doubt that the Auckland Cup has attracted more than 6000 since it's been run in March.
By far the most successful Cup Day is at Riccarton and the "North" want to destroy that too.

NO tote windows on course?  Use your cell phone!
Any management consultant will tell you that on course tote windows are too expensive.  Counting, handling, then reconciling cash is a hugely time consuming and expensive exercise now that the minimum wage has been pushed so high.
BUT, if that management consultant had spent the past 60 years dealing with, chatting with and observing punters in many countries, as I have, then that management consultant would recognise the awful expense of tote windows is actually money very well spent.
    Tote windows are necessary for the impulse bettor who, with a bursting bladder says to a mate;
"put that fifty on the 7 horse"
as he dashes for the loo.  Supermarkets recognise the impulse buyer with all that junk they have next to the checkout counters.  The tote must also recognise that part of their market.  A part of their market that if the transaction involves intricate manoevering of the fat fingers around a tiny keyboard, then the transaction will not go ahead.
The Green Party member who wants to put $40 on Golly Gee because it is descended from that Melbourne Cup winner Light Fingers, will probably not have a TAB account.

Well done NZTR and RIB on efforts to make sure of no repeats.
Its easy to bag them so its only fair they get some kudos for showing initiative to ensure lessons are learned and repeats are negated as much as possible.

Given that there is racing on the Trentham track for the next three weeks and three of four weekends in January [because of the unavailability of Awapuni] I thought that from time to time, I should update you:
Looking back through the Spring, notwithstanding the wet weather I thought that the Thentham track has played well.
On Saturday it played beautifully, as every jockey interviewed after their winning ride, testified.
Anyway, today in Wellington it was horrible [thank goodness it wasn't yesterday], cold, wet and windy but it brought lots of natural rain, [much better than irrigation] so although there is a long way to go until the weekend, everything has started perfectly.

CWJ had 8 years away, had he travelled the full distance would be 3200 plus
Opie is a superb rider, a true Champ.
A little distance from CWJ but an outstanding rider

Looking at the woeful noms for the Waikato Cup makes this old man very sad and longing for the good old days..Remember when the Avondale and Waikato cups ,then the Queen Elisabeth led up to the grand final Auckland Cup on new years day.. What was wrong with that concept ...nothing , it made total sense and was eagerly anticipated ..Not all change is good ..Moving the Derby I can understand , but destroying what used to be a natural and well spaced out campaign for the Cup horses is just a trajedy .

Harkening back to the good old days is understandable.
The fact is that we don't really breed stayers any more. There's too much money to be made at shorter distances for younger horses.
The stakes being offered are totally out of proportion to the available pool of horses in staying races.
It isn't confined to this country. Most staying races in Australia are contested by UK imports. It's a sad combination of breeding for speed and a general inability to allow horses to mature properly.
I'll probably get shot down for this but it's my opinion.

It really doesn't matter who she beat because that is some time for a maiden.

When was the last time I commented upon a four year old's maiden win.  I saw this mare win at Trentham today and there is something about her that might make her a very good racehorse.

Goodison scored zero but that was still 10 more than Everton earned today

A few people have indicated the need for a bit of a spell, but we're going to throw in a 5 week LGL comp in the lead-up to Christmas, starting next Saturday.  Fully understand if you have a bit of comp fatigue and want to give it a miss, but hopefully the stayers will come back for this one.
We can all have a well deserved break over the Christmas/New Year period and come back in late January/February for another block-buster teams comp.
Watch out for further details on LGL in the next day or so.

Been a few passengers at the higher echelons of the TAB for some time. Entain hopefully will show them the door before they start culling commentators. I would like to see Bruce Sherwin and Craig Rail becoming more active.

As far I am concerned if Tony Lee is being forced out that’s very disappointing.
There’s been dozens of “bleeders” on the TAB payroll over the last 20 years and Tony isn’t one.
Yes that’s my opinion and I am prepared stand by it.
