LastOf40 got a reaction from Right first time in Trans Tasman Super Comp Captains thread
We need a captain who selects the perfect match for the joker, wins all matches, winds up the opposition and gees up the troops in general. So I guess that leaves me out too. Then there were 3... Tom, we have the team to go all the way (direction not specified), so no one gets splinters in the Blues. You always had the wood on me in the past so better to be to be with than against

That must rank right up there with the beetle's "Yellow Submarine" ! Did it take long for the team to learn the lyrics?
    Good luck to both teams.
Personally I hope there is in fact a First time someone in particular is Right

    LastOf40 got a reaction from GONSTA in @ $1.60
I was having a read on Racecafe and found this thread on the Harness forum.
I think JackSprat is on to it. That is my opinion so don't bother giving me both barrels.
I went every week to Alexandra Park for 20 years and about 5 years ago I had had enough of what I saw and changed code and have been going to Ellerslie ever since.
Yes you will hear all them say there are form reversals, track conditions, poor rides... in thoroughbed racing but mostly they line up at the top of the straight and the best horse on the day wins.
Every now and then I catch a harness race on TV and usually it only takes a race or two until I see the "quiet drives", the "oh dear I have the fav 4 deep drives", the "$1.40 fav is in a mad gallop at the start race", the "siren has gone and the winner bumped something with 2550m to go and is disqualified ".
My favourite comments are the "remember folks the derby is next week and the driver may not be wanting a gut buster today" type that they openly seem to admit to.
It only took the one race when I switched on friday night to see the $1.40 fav's tyre come off and everyone does their $$$.
So there are way too many variables (legit and down right dubious) in harness and the same names keep coming up in the latter category to reinforce to me "tread carefully, Harness racing is for watching not betting", unless of course you are "in the know" if you know what I mean..

LastOf40 got a reaction from Peter Jenkins in Chief Chief
So PJ isn't kept waiting for a Chief's captain, how about I nominate Jack as the best performing Chief these first two weeks?
Now we have the "Graveyard" and "North Antartica" out of the way, we can start our move up the table
