Yes but only if you don't count my horses that canter or walk -
LastOf40 got a reaction from Ashoka in Was Mahanadi schooled over steeples?
Loyalty to fellow horsemen is commendable but I am sorry, what we witnessed today was a sham.
We are not talking about a novice jumper here but a horse good enough to win a Grand National Hurdles.
Punters had the right to expect that changing to steeplechasing would have occurred after proving to the trainer and owner that it was at least competent over the steeples, or stay hurdling. Having the stablemate win just rubbed salt into the wounds.
Racing is going through tough times and how many switched off betting at the end of that race?
The perception of many is that you have to be "in the know" to succeed in betting and that was reinforced today, on the track and on this forum.

The Jafa-o-meter came up with #11 on the attached picture of the prelude race.
Luckily it is scratched

I am more worried about Murwillumbah, Kembla Grange, Toowoomba or Launceston.

No worries PJ, I have done some research.... Scone : 272km from Wellington ? Does that make it a NZ race?
Dark Jewel Classic: Last years winner Dual Humpy - Class 3 camel ( Trainer: Trev from Alice Springs ).
I will get all the necessary information to Howie for an improved score next week.

We at the Blues have a policy of not poking a stick at a hornets nest ! (OK at least one of us does )
The Puddy Cats from the Far North are viewed by us much like betting on Tempelten - trails the field for a couple of weeks and just when you are confident of a good result against them ..... wham bam we are on the receiving end of a good old fashioned thrashing with bonus points etc!
So the underdog status for the current Champs does not wash one little bit! Good try though.

Howie, the Team list isn't aphabetical, so PJ must have done it on seedings ...

Howie, I thought you tee'd up with PJ to drop that 5th race from Aussieland?
9 races has such a nice ring about it ( and stops the wives from trying to turn off Trackside at 7pm!!).

From a totally unbiased perspective, that is probably the best call made anywhere, all day

I am another who seldom bets on harness these days. But it was a sunday and between odd jobs around the house I had another of my 6 monthly harness bets. It usually takes me 6 months to forget I am live in the Riverton Place6 into the last leg and although not a huge collect expected, I have an anchor with a $1.70 win fav.
It was slow away and 4 deep. But got out at the rear with more than lap to go. I had seen several races earlier where the better horses were put in the race by making forward moves with less than a lap to go. But not on my $1.70 Onedin Mac. Still last and making no moves at the end the back straight and made no effort around the bend. It powered down the short straight for 6th.
The last cent I will put on anything in a harness for at least another 6 months.

Thanks MrZim
Howie will probably be in touch to complete formalities. Short term transfers are a breeze.
It probably will save time if you got a sneak preview of the standard Blues aptitude test :
1. For how many consecutive years did Auckland hold the shield?
2. Which year was Auckland the Capital of NZ?
3. Is Otago in a]Australia b] USA c] not sure but I will look it up?
4. Have you ever worn black and red together? With an eye patch?
5. You study the fields over a a] cup of tea b]speights c] mocha frappaccino ?
Even Howie scored a B+ !!!

Yip good call. Now if we can just bribe persuade PJ to head to Ellerslie next week!
I am claiming responsiblility in holding off Aeronautical in the last! My Aeronutical / Sessions / Spirit of Boom trifecta bet was just that extra 1kg we needed around the neck of Dawsie's horse in the last race

I think Viceroy had Veyron in R9 and therefore the Bushies can win. With my number of 2nds all day, including a 30 minute inquiry that kept the nose victory ?? I am expecting just such an event .

Hi PJ
Are the details being withheld for the release of the "Match of the Day" matchups to coincide with the 6pm Network News ?
-
LastOf40 got a reaction from Right first time in Hurricanes v Blues
Thanks PJ
and sorry Reilly.
The wife grabs the remote at 6pm and having seen good old #3 down the track in the last, I neglected the double double quinella.
It is not until faced with scratchings, subs, no subs, dead heats etc that you realise you have left these details to the experts in the past.
I better power up a spreadsheet next time
I had thought the quinellas were just 2x and not 2x2x until Howie put me straight. I had wrongly thought the tiebreaker only kicked in if the matches were 2 all plus a tied match.
I am quite happy to feature in the lowest winning total this week. But the RTF aggregate is a worry.
Ellerslie next week ?? Home track ??

LastOf40 got a reaction from Right first time in Hurricanes v Blues
Blue v Hurricanes
After Race 9
Winner: Thy $27.80
Quinella: $84.40
Meno comes up big with the ruffie. But it does not change the overall result.
By my reckoning it comes down to #3 Lady Melksham in the last. That will put Globe up over me and Kay over Alf.
Globederby $50
LastOf40 $60
Ziggy09 $147
RightThisFirst $756.40
Escameno $520.80
BWJ $80
Kay H $64
Alf $64
Reilly M $141
Turny $398
Match is still 3 - 1 to the Blues. Hanging tough!
