LastOf40 got a reaction from Baz (NZ) in Improved TAB site?
I had given up as I like to use an iPad while watching the racing on TV. But sure as anything at some point I would get the "white screen of death", a top taskbar and nothing else on the mobile app.
Usually just before I went to place a winning bet, as is Murphy's 4th law on betting.
I did convey this to their Support people but they suggested I use Chrome browser. I could have got more help from my young niece!. But got the same result. Re-installs, clearing caches, I went the whole mile. Probably out of technical curiosity than anything, couple d with a stubborn streak.. I opened up a Bet365 account and it worked faultlessly. The only thing it doesn't have that I liked on the TAB site was the Trifecta Running bet. So I have tinkered occasionally with my TAB account.

Anyway I thing I have finally tracked down the villain in this app... the location services. You know that stupid check that I am in New Zealand and not some damn overseas person trying desperately to use their service (must be desperate or an ex-pat). Each time I installed it it would ask if I wanted to allow it use the location service: Never/Only this once/Always, and I always chose "Always" as you would. But now I installed and chose "Only this once" and although it has "white screened" twice, it always recovers by restarting the app, where it wouldn't before.
I can not understand why anyone would agree this this restraint of trade by limiting the site to NZ only but with NZ Racing management I guess that just adds to the long list of idiotic decisions.
With no free to Air TV, No radio, shutting down of the local TABs, you would have thought making a user friendly, available to everyone, website would have been the prime objective?? But no.

Ellerslie had a loyalty card a few years ago but wiped it. They recommended we become members (then shut the course for nearly a year).

Now the choice is easy, pay an entrance fee, get through security, be roped off from most areas, pay exorbitant food and drink prices, be blasted by static/music, OR stay at home with Wi-Fi, fridge and couch. Tough call!

I have been going to the track for most of my fifty years. Ellerslie mostly. Was a member for 10years or so. The punter experience, compared to betting at home is pretty woeful.
Unfriendly tote staff, more security than punters, constantly playing  music, can't hear announcementls etc.
I feel like the punters are treated as an irrelevance....best example is putting corporate tents that Block your view of the track? Like the horses, the spectacle, is unimportant? Whose fkn idea was that??!?
People running TAB and racing just don't get it.
A small example would be Mr Molloy (who I do not know) being unworried about people coming to HQ and having a brilliant experience, so good they become regular customers. Clearly successful businesses bust their humps trying to get you to spend, and return. You have to constantly be trying to get people to choose to spend their money with you.
But that is not the sense you get, at a NZ racetrack.

Neruda  is right about some of the rides. Race 1 set the tone and it did not improve.
After being closed for so long I thought the welcome mat would be out but we arrived at the door of the public lounge to find a “ Prvate Function - no entry” sign on the door. And half the front lawn fenced off too.
I left by race 4 and next weeks private function will be staged in my lounge, with all facilities in operation.

LastOf40 reacted to slam dunk in TAB $50M dry run went wrong!
The TAB and their Saudi sorry overseas backers are missing three fundamental concepts.
    Divorce financials from bet placement.
Don't run form guides under the same domain name
    Make taking a bet simple.
However the flaw in the TAB logic is that they are spending all this money to fleecing more out of a diminishing customer base. e.g. the TAB have tightened reaction time to overseas odds shifts leaving no incentive for punters. TAB should be spending on growing customer base not reducing it.
Don't think the TAB have got the balls to run the new system for Melbourne Cup day.

Commiserations Dark Horses, it was a tough day to be looking for winners.
Even up until the end it could have swung either way. We all know what a roughie can do to a match. Captain Cubes is probably still sucking in the oxygen after holding his breathe for the last hour.
