Apparently samples from Black caviar have been tested and found to be clear of cobalt (so someone must have wondered). Also a number of NZ trainers that travel to Aus have used this vet services. I wonder if it was offered to them.
And Insider, that was what I disagreed with, the 2 dont go hand in hand. In fact if you are paying under the table you are less likely to get into trouble, no PYE ACC etc to pay. Thats where the trap is. I think there are young trainers who have wonderful horse skills etc but struggle with the financial side and they dont necessarily spend their money on themselves, it tends to all go into the horses.
Have known some wonderful owners, if only they were all like that. What do you want me to prove to you Insider? I dont dispute that paying under the table has huge ramifications for several reasons, what I did dispute was the part in your original posting about trainers having monetary problems are usually the ones paying under the table.
Napier, you may agree with Insider, I said in my experiences it is not necessarily so. I know people who always pay their workers above board and have still got into trouble. In my experience, it is slow/non payers who are the biggest problem. Owners pay really late, horses still got to be fed and workers paid.Where does that money come from? One slow payer can cause all sorts of problems.
According to the stipes report, Keep It Tight also over-reached. That can make a horse very sore for a number of strides. A jockey wouldnt be able to tell if it had broken down or over reached. You would rather he pressed on with a sore horse? And risked a fatality. Ok, it was an over reach but jock wouldnt have known that at the time.
