  1. Single Cash was one of only 2 horses sired by Cashier, I believe Cashier used to kill any sheep that got into his paddock.
  2. We always thought that Double Cash had breeding that could lead to a brilliant name Bachelor Hanover-Brief Encounter. Somehow Double Cash as a name seemed a bit mundane
  3. Single Cash was owned by Roy Landon and Bruce File.
  4. Single Cash won 2 Rowe Cups. Parks Delight was trained by PTW.
  5. RIP Danny, thank goodness you had such a happy last few years. It was disgusting for you to have raced so well then travelled so far to be treated so badly.
  6. Bruce was at Howick I think, then brought a property at Ararimu. Which was where Transmitter Sound spent his retirement days.
  7. He was an awful trotter, lol. used to hit himself badly and couldnt go left-handed. He was a black horse and had a hogged mane, lovely boy, Timmy was his paddock name. I worked him at Taupaki, near Kumeu. I believe Bruce died fairly recently, could be wrong on that though
  8. Looks like Wolfie. I "worked Transmitter Sound for all the wins that he had in the north. He never went in the cart, I used to ride him instead.
  9. No one seems to be able to pronounce Rikki Tikki Tavi correctly either.
  10. Tom, I wasn't aware that horses other than Powley died that day
  11. May have been called "NZ Breeding and racing Stables" as several of these named horses were owned by this company.
  12. Good idea but the horse is probably over priced but then you can't put a price on safety I guess
  13. Traditionally fillies have not sold well at the RTR Sales, that is slowly changing. Luvaluva, (Wakeful Stakes, 4th VRC Oaks), came from last years RTR Sale. She was sold for 55k
  14. Fractured pastern, relatively good prognosis, operation Monday.
  15. He's back training. Good luck Paul.
  16. If they are good enough, they are big enough
  17. Going by the stipes report this horse was in trouble long before the catastrophic injury happened "commenced to lay in abruptly passing the 350 mtrs, Naadirr continued to hang for the remainder of the race, faltering shortly after the winning post"
  18. Flagship uberalles, his name is Lord Chrimar. we have a large number(40 at last count) of standardbreds here (tourist trekking facility), horses by Genkhis Khan, Soky;s Atom, Fitch, Sundon, Chiola Hanover, Dare You to, among many others,
  19. Standardbreds are tough, lovely horses. Have one dear old boy here, never set the world on fire as a racehorse but had 110 starts, raced til he as 10, still sprightly as and being ridden lightly, he will be 30yrs old next month.
  20. I think he slipped after he got away and fell on the concrete going back to the stalls, fractured his hip. Not many would survive that let alone go on and do what he did.
  21. There will never be another Cardigan Bay, he was a freak, the best of the best.
  22. Leggy, that was awesome to watch, some great names in that race. And spare a thought for wee Robyn Dundee, she chased "Cardy" home all round the world and indeed was runner-up to him when he cracked the million dollar mark. Vanderford had untold talent but was sadly killed when he went berserk on the plane to America, he had to be axed to death.:(
  23. Mighty Hanover raced til he was 15 (had 8 unplaced starts as a 15yr old)I think his world record was set when he was 14. Scotleigh raced til he was 14 ( he had 20 unplaced starts as a 14yr and 249 lifetime starts for 19 wins and 39 placings) Single Cash raced until he was 13 (he had 8 unplaced starts as a 13yr, raced 155 times for 20 wins incl 2 Rowe Cups) They bred 'em tough in those days
