Maybe if the NZTR, NZTBA & NZTM got together and promoted the industry within the high schools and with the career advisors it could help. We have struggled to put this across; we have seen the lack of information there is available to students re the industry, whereas other industries have posters and brochures with point of contact but not this industry. Our daughter is lucky as we know the contacts, but if a student had parents who know nothing about the industry the schools would not be able to help. I have even suggested they have a site at the likes of the Equi days promoting the industry (jobs and racing), many potential young people there and dragging their parents along who may have never thought about joining a syndicate.  
But these are only my thoughts!

Great to see the Sth Island stallions having a good run - Raise The Flag, Gallant Guru, Coats Choice, Highly Recommended, Remind and Zacinto all preforming well. Just to point out some had limited numbers (going by the stud book) but some others like Highly Recommended served over 100 mares each season so there should be plenty more to hit the tracks.

Totally agree with the above comment, also a foal spends the first 5-6 months with their dam and that must have a influence on their temperament as well.

I just checked the companies office website and they are no longer in receivership, In Receivership from 22 Feb 2017 to 07 Mar 2017. I have sent mares there the last two seasons without any problems, hopefully things are or getting sorted.

There are numerous South Island breeders who send their mares up to the North Island every season to support the North Island stallions so I am sure if they wanted their mares to stay closer to home they would. Also on the other hand there is nothing stopping North Island breeders sending mares to the South Island (not the end of the world) and the agistment costs would be a lot more reasonable!!

Maybe if the industry was advertised on main stream TV it could help bring in more sponsors (yes I understand it costs more than Trackside). There are some great ads on Trackside but this is only advertising to people who are already interested in the races, not new blood.

Agree with what Dibbles and Midget have said.  It is not good form to come on here and bag someone without facts to back up your statement.

Nek Minute there is always two sides to every story and unless you know the owner and have heard her side what right do you have to come onto a public forum and pass comment, to me it sounds like a case of sour grapes. I also find it hard to believe that a professional trainer would be happy with you passing these kinds of comments on a previous owner as it would put me off using their services in the future. I would think there would be many Sth Island trainers who would have been happy at the opportunity to train the mare.
