Just to point out Preferment is not the only new son of Zabeel to stand this season, Verdi (Zabeel x Miss Opera) half to Sir Slick and Puccini is standing down south. He looked like he was going to be a promising type on the track until he succumb to a tendon injury.

I just checked the companies office website and they are no longer in receivership, In Receivership from 22 Feb 2017 to 07 Mar 2017. I have sent mares there the last two seasons without any problems, hopefully things are or getting sorted.

There are numerous South Island breeders who send their mares up to the North Island every season to support the North Island stallions so I am sure if they wanted their mares to stay closer to home they would. Also on the other hand there is nothing stopping North Island breeders sending mares to the South Island (not the end of the world) and the agistment costs would be a lot more reasonable!!

Ingelwood Stud have announced that Zacinto will go from $4,500 (2015) to $10k (2016)

I watch mainstream TV, I know a lot of people who do not have sky etc. Also what is racing target market? Also how about local papers & and online papers, weekly magazines (women's weekly, new idea, horse & pony etc) there are plenty of forms of advertising markets that have not been touched which will maybe help bring a wider audience to the industry which may even bring new owners into horses or syndicates.

I am not really meaning the TAB and the betting side of racing. I think we need to be advertising the races, the courses, the atmosphere at the races and things that are put on for families (not just the big days were it is R18 attendances only). I think Riccarton has a good ad on Trackside but it needs to get to a wider audience. New sponsors will not come along if they do not think they are getting the right exposure for their money. Also good on Go Racing for advertising on the Stuff website, nice see them thinking outside the box.

Maybe if the industry was advertised on main stream TV it could help bring in more sponsors (yes I understand it costs more than Trackside). There are some great ads on Trackside but this is only advertising to people who are already interested in the races, not new blood.

Re Top line stallion, to be honest how many of us could afford the service fee of a proven top line stallion? I think the stallions that the Sth Island all have nice pedigrees on paper and a number of them were nice racehorses but most of them do not get the quality mares and numbers behind them that the Nth Island stallions get which makes it harder for them to stand out against the others.

Nek if you do not have that close link to stable why comment and make the ex trainer look bad by talking about a ex client on a public forum (which in my eyes is really bad taste).....without both sides of the story. Also when was it a crime for an owner to shift stables, as they are the ones paying the bills.

Nek Minute there is always two sides to every story and unless you know the owner and have heard her side what right do you have to come onto a public forum and pass comment, to me it sounds like a case of sour grapes. I also find it hard to believe that a professional trainer would be happy with you passing these kinds of comments on a previous owner as it would put me off using their services in the future. I would think there would be many Sth Island trainers who would have been happy at the opportunity to train the mare. This post was about a mare and her dam so how about we leave it at that.

Remind has very limited runners racing has a few nice runners going around at the moment Teddytwinkletoes, Bechtolsheimer, Timely Reminder (now with Peter Snowden In Australia), The Gordonian and The Custodian who won his first start in Singapore by 4.5 lengths. Irishbay have you looked at True Nicks website as you are able to get free reports from any sponsored stallions from their home page. They are linked with every stud book (which Goldmine is not) so you should not have to enter any broodmares and it is up to date. There are a few New Zealand stallions listed, and they also have some interesting articles. www.truenicks.com

Ferlax - I do not think running 2nd to Alantic Jewel & many other good horses in a Gr1 is nothing to be cried at considering only one horse ever bet her.

Thanks for that Kyla, so since Sir Percy is currently standing in Ireland at Lanwades Stud he will be able to be entered under the Ireland section of the Stallion Roster? Once again thank you for the services you provide with the stallion roster and the horse tracker they are a great resource to breeders.

Arion has added a lot more countries on their stallion roster page (Aus, NZ, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Japan, Sth Africa, USA & Zimbabwe). Well done Arion as it is a great feature, as all the current information (including acceptances and results) and statistics are now at hand for all breeders to access.

I do not think that is quite true grassroots as Lord of Warriors, King Of Roses and others that are no longer with us who are not in the stallion register are listed on the Arion stallion roster. Someone that has bred Sir Percy should email Rich Hill and ask them to put him up on Arion's stallion roster so that breeders can access his stats as even though he is not standing this season it would be well received by the breeders to be able to see his stats.

Agree with you Jess that a lot of people probably do not put in returns on horses that have died. I do it if I have too with our horses as I feel it helps that mares pedigree pages if there is a record so there is not the mystery of what happened to her progeny. There is no charge for doing this :-)

All I could think off was please do not let this be a Zenyatta outcome with rider error losing the race.
