And they way that they are saying that Winston bailed out the Racing Industry says it all!
He bailed out a government run organisation called the TAB, nothing more, nothing less.

Listen to what the grassroots are saying, including your close friends Andrew and Tony.......get rid of those who created the problem, not the young passionate, enthusiastic young people who will do the job for a quarter of the salary.

This government has tried to do more in the last two years than the previous one did in nine.

They are sacking/letting go wonderful people to save $10 million per year and those left behind won’t be able to cope! Trust me.

Yet they are paying $330,000 per week (17 fucking million per year) to Paddy Power!
Big business and fuckwhits, over good people once again.

    I really give up.

Exactly no virtually no one goes to the races now, even less now the genius are taking away the meetings the public had an actual demand for.

Wasn't that the mandate given to RITA by Winston Peters when he legislated them to take over  on 1st July 2019? It's like John Allen has been reincarnated.
RITA needed Covid 19 to make them wake up and realise what a pandemic actually is and to click that maybe the Racing Industry was already in that state before the virus struck!
Pandemic definition is - occurring over a wide geographic area and affecting an exceptionally high proportion of the population
Examples of Pandemic : Research from the 'Deloitte & Messara Reports' paint a bleak picture of the economic toll that the NZ Racing Industry will suffer for years to come due to the TAB's 'pandemic' of employing brain dead CEO's and General Management resulting in closed racetracks, breeding numbers down by hundreds as well as huge numbers of Industry related job losses. In one small bizarre way the NZ TAB showed the Nation that when either a 'man made Industry pandemic' or a 'virus pandemic' hits the end result is much the same.
Now if the NZ Racing Industry had seen the 'pandemic' coming and put the NZ TAB  General Management into 'Lockdown' maybe things could have got better a lot sooner rather than later and the fallout damage would have been a lot less to endure and the recovery rate greatly shortened.

Agree Dave but potentially a new major training centre, the simple fact is no one goes to Ellerslie it is a white elephant having fucked up tradition, Derby Day Auckland Cup day etc, so it will never happen at Ellerslie,
Ruakaka has immense appeal, just gotta think differently
The Avondale Club is very smart and there is no way Arc is on their agenda
Ellerslie can have zilliions in the bank but they get no one attending, it is a joke to suggest they are a flagship as they aint

I think worldwide the NZ economy will be one of the better performers during what will become a world recession. The Meat,Milk and Honey industries are already leading the way.All countries will struggle and I think most NZers know that

Don't know how you come to that conclusion my point is made.
Seems Tasman Man on the other hand needs to stoop to underarm tactics (every paragraph of his a lie) when he is proven wrong. This posted by him in 2017 after one of John Allens Ellerslie PR stunts. AS I said its fascinating to see who was right or wrong and who to follow on Racecafe.
    From Tasman Man 2017
......"I agree he is an enthusiastic and knowledgable leader with genuine belief his plans will lead us to greater profitability.
I agree his goal to reignite dormant account holders is wishful thinking ...throwing $5 at irregular users is the game-changer they believe to change habits.
Interesting that his Elite Punters make up 1 1/2 % of punters but they make up 56% of total bet.The real big boys ,the V VIP punters are the ones going to the rugby and get the V VIP treatment cos of their huge spend.
The Fixed Odds platform ....automatic technology will increase options significantly ,more in line with major competitors .
Racefields legislation expected to pass thru Parliament before election.
So there are 3 x Silver Bullets combining to make up the expected increase in Distribution to racing....Fixed Odds technology ,igniting dormant and lapsed customers and  Race fields legislation.
Shaun Clotworthy on behalf of struggling trainers and Industry Participants spoke well and at length about costs, salaries and big number of folk earning over $100k. and he and others continually questioned JA 's salary of $600k.
These points were hammered and JA , said costs now were under control with very small increase in costs in current year ...0.2%.
JA definitely took  the criticism well and pretty much acknowledged   that NZRB were portrayed as a wasteful organisation with poor perception among Industry but he did say there was a lot of misinformation out here and clearly believes he's done well in his two years and on the right track and would expect to be replaced if KPI's not achieved with increased distribution...He emphasised CASH was all that matters.
Reading between the lines it is apparent that things got out of control and poorly run before he took over !
He handled the grilling from floor very well...I like the guy !
It was pointed out that there is a lack of collaboration and respect between NZRB and NZTR....this obviously needs to change/improve.
He's adamant he will deliver the results...Happy days are here again !
Ellerslie course looks great for the Derby ,it is an excellent race-track.!"

It also never tested the system thoroughly with those who had to use it to actually deliver the product before it went live. Instead a small selection of people were hand picked for a minimal number of "test runs". Unsurprisingly those who were chosen were known to not rock the boat. Anyone, even with vast experience, who expressed doubts or concerns and options for solutions was ignored or removed entirely from the mainstream team. As a result the huge team that was brought in to develop the product had extremely minimal knowledge of how the existing system functioned for a start.  Additional "Workarounds" had to be put in place even prior to the systems introduction, adding substantial time to numerous tasks. Even at the huge expense it was, it was always a bandaid fix, a new platform which still has to link to the outdated(1970s?) original system to operate. Therefore it was always going to be both an additional cost and impossible to create a fluidly functioning product. Any upgrade should have addressed the ancient system and terminals 1st to be effective. Experienced IT experts left in droves as they saw the writing on the wall, as it seems have most with a true passion for racing. An exit from the sinking ship, the inebitible. Intolerable to see when you understand at all the reality on the ground for the heart of the industry, whose exponentially harder work delivers the product. Little chance to make any profit in NZ anymore, but those who have a true passion for the sport and these amazing animals, a way of life.
Doomed to fail, poorly informed, and even as a bandaid fix at unreasonable cost, a complete and utter failure. Unacceptable, and it will not change until those that at the top who seem entirely untouchable , blind and deaf are gone. Outsource. The industry cannot afford to do what needs to be done to fix this failed administrative mess. RITA doesn't even possess the common sense to know that cutting exposure, coverage, service and access to your core product and revenue streams FIRST is the WORST thing you could do.

THE BEST WAY TO GET NEW ENTRANTS TO HORSE RACING IS THROUGH ON TRACK EXPERIENCES, THATS WHERE I GOT MY FIRST TASTE AND MOST PROBABLY WOULD SAY THE SAME, SO BY CLOSING HALF THE COUNTRY DOWN THOSE PEOPLE IN THOSE AREAS WONT GET INTERESTED,MEANING LESS PEOPLE BOTHERING AND CREATING A DOWNWARD SPIRAL

PS, SORRY ABOUT BIG LETTERS BUT I TYPED THIS ALL IN BY MISTAKE AND CANT BE BOTHERED CHANGING IT NOW OK.

    Harry Markopolos  remember him?
He was the guy who battled against a brick wall trying to convince the authorities that Bernie Madoff was a fraud.
Well the Harry Markopolos award goes to Brian de Lore.
There were several cheer leaders for John Allen on this forum like P4P, Trump & Nerula  blighted by some political agenda that said Allen could do no wrong until the obvious couldn't be excused.
That was the battle de Lore was up against. So please could someone solve the mystery why was the Deloitte Report not released in time and as Brian de Lore acknowledged could have prevented the crippling FOB project proceeding,

Re the installing of AWT’s at CAMBRIDGE etc, I wonder if “before” deciding to install these, did anyone contact the Toowoomba Racing Club in Qld and enquire as to why they ripped theirs out only a short time after having completed it?

I concur with your second point Gubellini...it doesn't stack up fiscally but I bet exclusively with NZTAB as a self-imposed moral tax whilst I'm racing and developing horses here in NZ.

Totally agree with Ken that we should be taking measures to stop leakage to Australian and other offshore betting agencies. Bemused by owners who complain about stakes yet do most of their betting offshore. I am an owner and bet exclusively with our TAB.

Cambridge trial form is generally regarded by pro punters as worthless (great for weasel bloodstock agents to undermine our industry overseas though!)...imagine how AW racing on same velodrome track is going to wow the punters. Likely the worst single NZTR decision I've seen in my time in racing!
