Barry, I don’t know if this was a quote from a Rita press release or your summation of something relayed to you but, excuse my ignorance, what on earth does this mean

Does anyone know if any of the powers that be have asked for, or are receiving any of the $50 million Kris Fafoi said is going to help the media?
 
Racing publications including Race Form , Trackside Radio & Trackside TV are MEDIA.
Those who have lost jobs or are hanging in there awaiting resumption of jobs in those fields of Racing should be asking questions and for assistance to get our industry back up and running.
 I'm sure Radio Sport & other stations & media will be getting assistance  so why not Racing which used to employ a considerable number of New Zealanders, and contribute millions of monies to Her Majesty's coffers & enjoyment in life.
 
I await with interest what Bernard Saundrey & associates have to say & expect a media release immediately about this.
The sooner we have ALL forms of our Radio, print & television broadcasts back up & running the better.

I think that I will write to Ian Long and ask him to tell us who currently owns the land that the vanished clubs sit on. I will also ask him, what is the unimproved value of the land? The last question shouldn’t be too hard for him or his cronies because it will be clearly shown on their rate demands. 
The problem that I am creating though, is that I am keeping him in a job another day longer than he should be.

I know RITA inherited this mess but they have hardly been pro active in getting costs under control . Up until last week they hardly made a wimper about restructuring , then bang more announcements than the govt document drop of 2 Fridays ago , and then the use of COVID as having been the destroyer . But of course nobody from top level got the chop , OH ! but they are currently under review , not holding my breath . These are the guys that were in large the ones advising J A and helping him manage his grand plans . Why weren't they one of the first under the microscope , not just in last weeks announcements but surely they should've been put under the blow torch as soon as RITA came into effect . No RITA didn't create this mess but they must hold responsibility for allowing the disease to continue unabated .

Anyone miss this?

Surely it is time for "name and shame". Everyone is randomly blaming John and the Shot-putter for this, and they must ultimately take the blame, although it doesn't seem to have done either of them much harm, they just walk into other jobs. Perhaps Barry could dig up some background to these disastrous decisions that are destroying the industry. As he points out it is Racing that is bearing the brunt of this. I don't notice any rugby grounds or basketball stadiums being shut down and sold off to fund the shortfall. All care and no responsibility for sports, while Racing gets sent broke. Who were the big pushers of this disastrous policy? Was it driven from the top,  or from others and the top was just too stupid to see what a disaster it would be?

I'm amazed they have a senior advisor who covers both racing and sport. I would have thought they were quite distinct activities.

This kind of carry on is all very well, but utterly pointless when no one listens to anything, its just going through the motions as the decisions are already made.
