Incorrect, overpaid CEO and CFO both gone for a start and top team took 20% pay cut. Cost reductions of 5% in train based on November RITA budget. Major restructuring work underway including consultation with staff and stakeholders plus trying to get new Racing bill introduced. Most government organizations could not have achieved that in 3 years let alone 7 months.
Would they not have has to pay fixed costs such as staff, rents and normal operational business costs whilst having little if any racing or sports revenue
Im supposing they are as you always start at the bottom when it comes to restructuring and work your way up. therefore next in line will be at the top end IF im correct in my asssumption.
PS , i do not work for either RITA or its predescessor

RITA was needing a bail out regardless of Covid19.  In fact considering RITA had to pay no stakes I would have a guess that RITA's cashflow held up not to bad during April.
So...where are the figures of Income/Expenditure since RITA took over running the show? Surely the Half-Yearly Report covering Aug 2019 -Jan 2020 (pre-Covid) would shine some light on this, but there is no sign of this Report, already two months overdue

Racing needs a good radio station to keep interest, not a good website radio setup it needs to be easy reached for convenience,, racing is good on radio, just like test cricket ,I cant be bothered with smartphone all the time, many times it's not reliable anyway, once upon a time when sky started and live coverage started you thought that radio would become irrelevant but it still has its place always will.

Totally correct Greg.  Where people seem to have issue is the following:
There were no cuts done till Covid 19.  RITA was needing a bail out regardless of Covid19.  In fact considering RITA had to pay no stakes I would have a guess that RITA's cashflow held up not to bad during April.
The job cuts are at the lower end of the spectrum and at the promotional end of racing.  I know you said they are reviewing top end, but RITA has been apparently reviewing this for best part of a year.  John Allen (I wish him luck) but should have finished his job the day after RITA started.
Racing will not survive if you do not grow revenue.  FACT.  I also think RITA have a massive obligation to our domestic product.

    What logic?
It has been pointed out to you numerous times that RITA had 10 months at least, 18 months even, to make changes and they did nothing (except John Allen resigned)
Why start at the bottom (now) and work up? Why not start at the top and work down?

And here was me thinking my car radio had thrown a tizzy - because it could get all the other stations and not 711 a.m. any more. Just shot on straight past it no matter how hard I tried.  Then a few days later I discovered the truth. Has no one in management got the faintest clue how to offer the customer some service any more?  Let's not have any betting operators at tracks, form guides for the punters (the lifeblood of racing then) and now we won't let you listen to the races you are supposedly being "enticed" to bet on either. I didn't think it could get worse but somehow they've managed it...

Correct, this thread was about how decisions that seem to make sense based on numbers but numbers do not tell the full story.

A woman was told she only had 6 months to live.
“Oh my God!” said the woman. “What shall I do?”
“Marry an accountant,” suggested the doctor.
“Why?” asked the woman. “Will that make me live longer?”
“No,” replied the doctor. “But it will SEEM longer.

    Hi Pottsie
This is not meant as a personal attack on accountants.  What I am getting at is that a spreadsheet might say that face to face terminals are not profitable (I still can't understand $4.1M Rita cost) however it does not show the true value.  Raceform is not profitable but I still think it is needed.

Bernard Saundry discussed on his facebook live forum (thank you for these Loveracing and Bernard) the reason behind the removal of Face to Face betting.
The accountants had come up with the below calculation:
Face to face betting terminals turned over $30M.  16% of this meant revenue of $4.8M.   Cost to Rita to run these terminals is $4.1M and the costs to clubs for wages is $1M.  So effectively a loss of $300K.  The accountants say we can't continue like this, losing money.  However this is where accountants have a very limited view and don't consider the below:
How the fcuk can it cost Rita $4.1M to run the oncourse terminals when they don't pay on course wages?  Can this cost not be reduced? Taking these away from clubs will severely reduce the oncourse experience for the big days with their once a year crowds.  Clubs need a big day every year. Do most punters not start by having a little oncourse flutter? Did we analyse if some days are profitable and some are not?  Maybe just face to face betting on weekends or Premier days?
