  1. Thanks Crusty for all the work. It doesn’t make for very good reading, even the ones given a chance. You question the quality of the mares. I think that the main stallion used was a major downgrader. Dreadful in fact.
  2. It’s the introduction to racing for most people. They don’t know that they aren’t great fields. Actually it probably suits them being small, as it will obviously be easier for them to back a winner and get a real thrill. Isn’t it sad that the people in charge have closed down Gisborne, Wairoa and Waipukurau just to name three. All three provided exactly what Wairarapa did today. Liz
  3. I was actually hoping that a few good horses came out of the sale for bargain prices. Maybe in the next lot that Crusty looks up, there will be a good horse or two.
  4. You have one to many. Only four are allowed. Let John [SNM] know which one and he will remove it for you. Good luck Liz
  5. Crusty, thanks for the update. Sadly it seems that a large percentage never went into training, given that they were never named.
  6. I am sure that they were on Gavelhourse because I remember looking at them. In fact a couple were recommended to me but I didn't take it any further. The first posting at the top of the thread was 29 April 2021 so I am guessing that the sale took place in the 3rd & 4th weeks of April 2021.
  7. From what I can see the only houses that have been in trouble near the sea is because of erosion, not rising sea levels. From what I can see the sea level on the Porirua/Paremata Harbour [where i live] is exactly the same as it was when I moved here 40 years ago.
  8. Nearly 3 years later I wonder if any of them turned out any good?
  9. It's perfectly OK. However to be eligible for the race, either the original owners do what's called a 'buy back' and pay up for the race series, or if someone bought it after the sale, they of course also need to enter it. Having said that, even horses sold at the sale mightn't be entered for the series, especially some of the Australia purchases and/or the envisaged slow developers. Good luck with your choices, I like them all.
  10. There’s too much racing on the tracks that are left after NZTR closed a whole lot down both prior too and subsequent to the Messara Report WITHOUT doing anything about a top quality maintenance programme and a proper restructuring of the dates. Oh yes they did, that assisted in the fast tracking of the AWT’s that are only being used in the Winter when the whole industry should close down for 6 weeks anyway. Jumping is finished and we can simply get our gambling fix from Australia or even South America these days. Tracks in recent memory gone…. Avondale, Paeroa, Te Teko, Te Awamutu, Gisborne, Wairoa, Waipukurau, Stratford, Feilding just in the North Island!
  11. Can Showgate slow Bonecrusher's progress next week? [Asks Say No More] We are all going for some high altitude training in a hyperbaric chamber down at sea level, so that should do the trick. Liz, Joan, Scooby and Drum
  12. Lot 357 Romabella Lot 370 Santa Catarina Lot 384 Selica Lot 1081 Back Date A long range guess. P.S. If I could have afforded a share in any one of the above, it would have been Lot 370.
  13. 1. Wingatui R5 1, 8 2. Wingatui R7 1, 13 3. Wingatui R9 4, 7 4. New Plymouth R4 5, 9 BB 5. New Plymouth R6 3, 12 6. New Plymouth R7 3, 13 7. Rosehill R5 1, 4 BB 8. Rosehill R6 2, 7 9. Rosehill R7 4, 6 10. Rosehill R8 7, 9 11. Caulfield R7 7, 10 12. Caulfield R8 5, 7 Thank you SNM and Scooby. Hopefully we will re-find our form today and prove that last week was all down to the Ellerslie track!
  14. Are you referring to the NZR Report or Leggy’s comment?
  15. One published the other day somewhere. Could have been on the Breeding thread. I am sure that you would have seen it.
  16. Quite the contrary if you looked at the published report over the last 5 years from one of the top sales.
  17. Kim Treweek who resigned a few months ago and moved to Newcastle NSW where he is running their Trotting Club so I understand.
  18. Pally, the reason that I liked the filly [Lot 214] wasn't just because she was by Savabeel, was out of a five times winning O'Reilly mare, was from a good family, was reared on the best farm in NZ, was only a $100K, was going to be trained by Michael Freedman, but that she was chosen by Michael Wallace, one of the best in the business so there can't be too much wrong with her. To name just two that Michael has signed for previously, what about Justify or Russian Revolution?
  19. 5% gets your name in the book too, unlike the big syndicator in this country. Just saying.
  20. Last I heard there definitely was. At the time, (2 days ago) figures weren’t finalised, because of airfreight etc, but around about A$6000 for 5% was the quoted figure at this stage.
  21. If you want humour, jokes, video clips that are irrelevant to Thorougbred Racing shouldn’t they be somewhere else, maybe on the Main Street thread or Scooby could maybe open up a separate thread just for them. The Main Street thread is always worth a laugh anyway with the vast degree of differences between the posters. Just saying
  22. I am thrilled to advise that $665.00 has been deposited into the Huntington Association's bank account late this afternoon. $300 of the $650 came from Scooby's very generous donation of $300.00, irrespective of how the bets went. [See the posting immediately above] Montydrum [2nd] though had a wining bet, and that made up the other $365.00. Sadly we didn't do so well at the Karaka Meeting, where even Legarto couldn't do it for us, but that's the way it is sometimes. I really want to thank first and foremost Scooby for allowing me to run and sponsor the competition on Race Cafe, but more importantly bring attention to the terrible disease that Huntington's is and raise [hopefully] some money for them, while at the same time have fun. John [Say No More] is not only a great scorer, but also totally supportive of the cause too. Thank you John. Finally thank you to everyone who joined in the competition, especially the placegetters for their attempts at making money. Liz
  23. I don't think so. I have seen the above Brittany many times when watching harness racing from Australia, but "Saturday's Brittany"" even with her helmet on looked and sounded different. As I said on a different thread, she was absolutely superb. Her understanding of Vinnie when interviewing him after wasting down to 53kg was handled with empathy and experience. Without doubt in my mind, Brittany has to be the best I seen, doing those sort of interviews.
  24. I am picking that this will turn out to be an absolute coup for RACE and the CD. Hopefully Entain will pick up Jayne, to at least do the big days at Trentham, Awapuni and Hastings.
