Chris Wood reacted to CBT in Off to Flemington
Buy a Myki card at Flinders for $6 then put $10 credit on it (or more depending on how much you’ll be using public transport). Then catch the train directly to Flemington (takes about 20 mins and should only stop at Southern Cross).
Turnbull Stakes is a great meeting to go to. Last year they had a few more on course because of Winx and this year will be no different but no need to buy a seat in my opinion. They’ll be plenty to spare in the public stand.
The Members stand is fantastic from a viewing spectacle (saw Dunaden pip Red Cadeaux from up there) and it’s a lot more comfortable with less people, nice leather sofas, easy to get a bet on etc. Depends what kind of experience you’re after and whether you want to fork out or not (general admission is normally around $30).
Are you a member of a race course in NZ? If so you may get reciprocal rights.
When you arrive on course from the train head down stairs and to your left is the bookies ring. If you walk through the ring then head right towards the Makybe Diva statue you’ll see the stabling area on the left.
Hope you enjoy your stay.

Chris Wood got a reaction from puha in Date For The Messara Report Release
I am sure Sure John Messara has nothing to do with Trotting or the Greyhounds over in Australia, so why would it be any different here.
Trotting offers incentives to take your horses to Alexandra Park, already one step ahead of our code!

Chris Wood got a reaction from Black Kirrama in Te Rapa Track...Is it worth the money they spent on it???
No, unfortunately far from successful, lots of kickback and pending where the rail is, a leader bias, which is normally worked out after a couple of races. They are working on it, but it will take awhile to get a reasonable resolution to the problem.
Sad really, as it had been a really good winter surface prior to this, still possibly better than 90% of most winter tracks here in NZ, but kickback for horses and riders is really bad if you are back in the field, something that can’t be solved in a short time.

Controversial sand spread last time it was done, first one without Neil Treweeks supervision.
New course manager imported from Awapuni.

Chris Wood got a reaction from ADM in Victoria Gatu
Viktoria decided to head back to Sweden for a variety of reasons, and not planning to return in the near future.
She was a joy to have around the stables and is sorely missed by all her fellow staff members, and Pacorus!

Nothing happening so far on this section of cafe' so thought I'd get the ball rolling. There is plenty of other trainers who would have much more interesting content and info to share i'm sure.
I'm currently only working a couple and only the two young ones to begin there first prep this week. I had a clear out at the end of last winter of a few jumpers and a couple of flat runners who just were not making the cut, they all found nice homes so that was pleasing.Last winter also brought the retirement of the stable star Eric The Viking, the old boy brought so much joy to me during his time in the stable, from winning a black type 1400 meter to winning the Grand National over 5500 meters,he really was so versitile and when caught in the mood very hard to beat. Now to find the next good one.....
I'll try and remeber to comment on any runners I have going around and if anyone wants to ask a question then feel free to. (just no abuse if you back one of mine and it goes no good!)

I am a member nowadays at TeRapa and the facilities since their revamp are great, and at $125 for two passes I feel they represent great value.
The Friday night before the Foxbridge Plate, they have John Letts there at a cocktail function, following on from Greg Miles last year.
Well done to the Waikato R.C , their lounge improvements are fantastic, let’s hope the Owner Trainers area is next!

Really nice people rode a few winners for Kevin back in the day...really good with apprentices over the years, and a nice family, well done on 55 years together.
