Thanks Shane, never hidden on this site and like to try and see the positive side.
Things aren’t 100% obviously, but don’t get carried away, see what the powers to be come up with.
They might be just as frustrated as what you people are….
The Strathayr team are on their way, they won’t walk away from their responsibilities, sure things will work out and as you say Shane, it will be the best surface in the Country.
Amazing how people hide behind a barrier, got something to say, put your name to it…..

For gods Sake, horses break down on any track Scooby, you know that.
Super Sid has gone around a few times, Pearl of Alsace might have felt the firm track, some do some don’t.
Injuries  happen, it’s called an attrition rate, if you read all stripes reports from all tracks things will be pretty similar.
Give Ellerslie some time, I for one, along with a lot of others will race there when it is in use….
It’s Headquarters, and not the other Famous landmark at the Viaduct!

That's a great move. Hopefully it will get some new people interested in racing or bring some people back that left because they didn't have Sky.

Chris Wood reacted to Eclipsed in Trevor Luke - RIP
Others on here will know Trevor far better, however a doff of the cap to a man who always took a punt.
Alamosa arguably his best, however an owner in plenty of good winners - was the South Island’s largest investor at yearling sales for a number of years.
A punter from day one. He took a massive hunch on VHS videotapes over Betamax in the really early days of digital.
When the market in this sector was 50/50 re the technology path, he invested more than he had on VHS cassettes and connected his punt for the blank VHS tapes with a fledgling NZ retail format called The Warehouse. Ka-Ching moment!
Raced many good ones over 30 years with Peter McKay.and other top trainers.
His car number plate was 164 no - a top cricketer to boot!
One of a kind -  a top man.

I don't believe the sh-t that comes on here about tracks. Let's put things in perspective.
Track had 5 mil of irrigation over 7 days with temperature in the late 20's for most days, simple question is do you have a track at a true 5 morning of the races and if it's fine come back to a 4 which should suit everything, or have a 4 morning of the races and get rain and can't race , to me it's a f..kg no brainer.
There is a on going problem with track ratings prior to racing in NZ which needs addressing , to many times track ratings don't stack up with times run and slow to up/down grade, for fudge sake let's actually have our eyes open to the fact that climate change is going to play a part in our weather and adjust accordingly.
The money has been increased  to help the industry to be let down by a few that effect so many,

I wasn’t oncourse Sunday, but I am picking the packed race days  at Wairoa wouldn’t have been the same at Hastings on Sunday.
Couldnt see many of the general public from Wairoa heading there.
All their work on the track was voluntary, done by committee people.
I maybe wrong, but if you don’t take racing to the people in these regions, the young ones will never know about it and the older generation are not going to be here forever!
    Just an observation!

It’s not a flop Hi Ho, I had a conversation with a few this morning here in Cambridge, no soundness issues from their perspective, I didn’t see Chad to ask about his horse.
It seems one stable may have had some issues by the word on the street, but if your injecting youngsters joints at this age, you are asking for problems as I see it, the pressure on two and three year olds without letting them mature naturally is always going to give you quite a high casualty rate, so let’s not blame the track for that.

I didnt  hear of any pulling up sore, but then again I don’t always converse with fellow trainers each morning, still riding me.
But I will do some research tomorrow or Tuesday from my fellow trainers and let you know what they thought….
My first runner on the track will be Canheroc on Saturday in the Avondale Cup, bit of rain forecast as I see on the Weather report, hope it’s okay….

Who said the horses didn’t have underlying issues Lee, all I said is the bulk of people I spoke to had no complaints…
We have trainers that complain about the tracks here at Cambridge and take their horses elsewhere to work, things can go wrong on any track….
and we can’t always see underlying issues, sadly, it’s something that’s always on the cards when you have livestock.

I am sure no one is going to put there hand up and openly say that their horses have regularly been treated for joint problems, and the horse is scratchy again the day after racing…..ooops, let’s blame the track, there might just be a little more to it I think…..
