Chris Wood got a reaction from Tauhei Notts in Gitano
P and M Plaza in Ward Street, Hamilton.
Bill Gilmore had the Bookshop there, I used to pick up my Monthly magazine there, Hoofbeats, with the colour plate in it each Month of the star horse of the Month.
i had read half of it by the time my Mum and two sisters had finished looking at material and patterns in Pollock and Milne.

Thanks Team, some kind words.
It was a big thrill and as I was being hosted by Duane Eagle of Eagle Technology on the day, it was great to win a race sponsored by him.
Sam gave him a peach of a ride, and I was feeling pretty happy turning in when she hadn’t gone for him.
A couple of weeks to the Defby, exciting times, and once again, thanks to my staff here at the stables, and to my clients that are involved in him.
I appreciate their involvement.

He had retired by then, I think a family member, Barry Howe was working a few!
Great spot, locals were friendly and won quite a few races from our stables, Ballarat Cup with Command N Conquer and an Australian Hurdle with Corrupted spring to mind…..

Chris Wood reacted to PKR in My day out/thoughts around Ellerslie as a complex.
Hell no. It's not cheap to attend a big day - anywhere really. It's a treat. Inflation I suspect. How it worked back in the day I'm not sure. I must have been pretty silly thinking I'd always come out ahead. And if I didn't, well there was always the next time. But a lot of fun. And in the 20 odd years I spent out or NZ I ways found the opportunity to attend a few meetings, from Marble Bar to Tokyo Fuchu.
Now in the setting sun I'm on a fixed income, more or less. I don't mind the odd bet but have come to realise that winning a modest amount occasionally is the limit of my success- bar some random multi. It's a hobby and pergaos at times expensive interest I've had since youth. These days I'd rather take a picnic to Thames, oh I forgot, Te Aroha. I'd say from the provincial attendances a good few feel the same way. It's just another event on a busy calender. Sorry Ellerlie. I've go nothng against you really. That said, I might head to the Cup meeting, if only to cheer on Chris Wood and his talented horse.
Of course others will have different lived experiences. Owners perhaps? More serious punters? A generation or two younger and part of the crowd - albeit diminished - as I once was?
