  1. I'm hoping that 'Red' is not a description of my face at the end of the day!!

  3. Yes, thanks Chestnut! I see it now.. was a bit confused there...haven't been keeping up with everything that's been happening and was upset to see how PJ had pulled the pin on his comp. That would have been terrible. Glad to see he's 'recanted' - and looking forward to the new comp!
  4. In light of your post Berri, I like your final suggestion very much. It would need to still be a worthwhile stake say $250,000 to create sufficient interest and prestige, but the added bonus up to $1M for 'sale only' horses, sounds like a sufficient incentive. I'm sure it could work. A filly like Prom Queen might have been an interesting runner this year, on that basis, but obviously excluded due to her sale history.
  5. I used to love riding along anywhere with a bit of pace on!!! Particularly Takanini - but preferably not on the old No 3 grass!
  6. Splurge [Savabeel-Splashing Out] - the latest Stakeswinner from this prolific winning family, descended from Bourbon Lass.
  7. Now 6 from 10, a G3 winner and looking a very good horse!
  8. Your alliteration alone almost 'ad me attending...:)
  9. Have a look at video of Race 7 today at Awapuni, for Alamosa's latest winner and very promising young horse.
  10. I've liked Camino Rocoso all along so I'll stick with him unless there's a downpour tonight which looks highly unlikely. Saville Row, Sacred Elixir are my other two if the track stays good, otherwise Gingernuts on a rain-affected track....
  11. Just wanting to do a little bit of promotion here. Have just listed my 3yo Alamosa on the latest Gavelhouse auction. He's a beautiful type, correct and sound with a fantastic temperament and completely untried. Has been brought up to galloping stage, now spelling after being gelded. He's big and strong and gives every indication of being an excellent prospect. From a terrific winning family. He was observed to wind-suck while at the stables, but this has never been observed before. Check him out on the auction - he's worth a look and will stand any inspection. He's down at Hallmark Stud and Denny has had him there since he was weaned. No expense has been spared in his prep at any stage. You will not have to wait long for this bloke - he could be racing in a matter of months. Alamosa has a great record and Beefeater is his latest destined for the top. Please contact Denny Baker on 021 955 573 with any questions or to arrange a viewing of the horse. All bids or offers via the auction please. Thanks.
  12. That was another tough win on the weekend by Splurge; don't know that he relished that track, but he dug deep. Heard he's being aimed at the Darley next. Have to be a show, you'd think.
  13. Splurge finally starting to look above average and may yet live up to his breeding.
  14. Mate - you're not wrong there!! Still, he's clearly got some ability and hopefully he can push on from this point.
  15. I have sent my mare to Shocking this season also - he will be the season's biggest 'mover' in my opinion. My mare is a superb cross with him.
  16. Splurge wins his 3rd - a rating 75 over 1200m - from 6 starts, quite easily today at Hastings. Had to be patient with this bloke but looks like he might be worth the wait.
  17. Even OP couldn't get anything home in Hong Kong when he was on longshots all day....
  18. He appeared to never be travelling well to my eye. Track??
