  1. Who's the dissenter? go on, surely not a breeder in moleskins? or a bloodstock agent, they don't count anyway.....the agent that is.
  2. You only get a lynch mob when you're an outlaw....or Lindy Chamberlain, so outlaws it is then!
  3. Thanks for posting that Horseboy, it's pure waffle, what we have come to expect, same thing back in 2011, the forward projections turned out to be a thing of wonder, sadly for us all the wonder should read wander.......it will be interesting to see/hear if the CEO of NZTR adds his comments to this, I somehow feel he'll keep it at arms length.....Glenda will face questions from the floor on Sunday, [hopefully] if they are not pre-vetted I would suggest Glenda will be torn apart, she acknowledges they are facing problems, as is the industry in general, every question should be answered, on the spot, in full and if dissected by the audience, further discourse should follow......if all this fails, how then do you rid the industry of these people? my guess is they have tenure of employment, therefore Mr Nathan Guy and his boss are the only ones empowered to advise John, Glenda, Alan and Greg, DCM.
  4. Thank you, we all saw what happened in VIC when TAB CORP took over, the game went gang busters.
  5. Is there anyone at the RB with any semblance of knowledge re Bookmaking, profit and loss/margins etc Leggy, in your opinion? Having trained for a former rails bookmaker I had it drummed into me the differences, framing a market/making a book = making a profit.......if indeed they don't understand said nuance's, then how and why sell off? Is it to raise capital to keep the ship afloat? pay the wages etc........I need enlightening, someone put me out of my misery, please
  6. That's a shame Tony is 'reluctant' as you say Midget, the front man needs to be more than that.....everyone that saddles a horse at this mornings trackwork, every person that mucks out a box, or throws a leg over and rides a few work, they/we need someone that want to be there......it's bare knuckle time, otherwise it's a nothing....for Christ's sake surely it's now or never. Might get caught up in the Karaka euphoria, or succumb to external forces, whatever, I hope Tony says it like it is, otherwise people who have left the industry are lost forever, if it brings change, and massive change, then some or all of those people may feel empowered to return....hopefully, and IMO.
  7. That's what Warnie told Hurley.
  8. We'll probably buy a couple, some lovely families, even in the Festival sale, the thing is, I'm able to get them up and running here, use wonderful facilities for us here, then pick the eyes out of them, take a couple to AUS and use a satellite stable, or send them to a mate [leading trainer] on mates rates? But why? why oh why, we have everything here, always have, we just have poor management and poor stakes, poor infrastructure, and poor future, otherwise nothing would give me greater pleasure than to end my days travelling to and fro race meetings here plying our trade in exchange for respectable pay days.....and employing 2-3 good local people......geezus, how bloody sad is all this.
  9. It's not about 'stakes', firstly they need to bring back free racing, to bring us into line with most developed countries, then infrastructure, then stakes........get more people into ownerships and then you will deter good people like Paul Belsham and co from leaving the industry.....what a legacy to leave, both CEO's, the carnage of broken people, all because a once proud industry has foundered on the rocks, ''not our fault' is that the cry from the bridge? For Gods sake, something good must come from this meeting, just one resignation would be a start........does anyone really think Karen Z was itching to leave Otaki? her home for how many years? who's the next to leave there?....or anywhere for that matter? you don't expect in your 'golden years' to have to relocate or retire just to justify poor decisions by people on huge, fat salaries. Any other industry would have ousted these people, what makes them a protected species here? How the hell can you front every Monday when the reality is so many good, decent, talented and passionate people are going to struggle to pay their mortgage?........I'm at a loss, if I could understand even a little of what has happened here, well then you could ponder a pathway, or escape route, too many have had to take the escape route.......and all respect and understanding to those souls.
  10. I reckon they will, even with half a brain they'd be mad to not realise the possible confrontations, and embarrassing situations.....of course a rather large Pacific Islander on each arm might be an idea, just as a deterrent.
  11. Oh, and to add, Mornington in winter is a shit hole as you so put it, most of us avoided it, Mornington trained horses would win more than half the program. The place was called little New Zealand, most of the pop were related or knew one another from a lifetime here, wet track paradise, good horses came from there, but NO champions.
  12. Me thinks you have your name arse about, Mr Stuff Big, now that has a ring to it......who's we? when you mention ''we don't need Woodville''.....you don't speak for me, I thought Woodville produced a magnificent mat yesterday, and I'm used to training at Rosehill and before that Flemington, so bugger off.
  13. racedays! not raceways.
  14. We raced at Woodville yesterday, couldn't believe they could break 1-12 after all that rain, although we didn't run to expectation, no fault of the track, so well done Woodville, to take raceways away from you is small/narrow minded, or another agenda altogether.
  15. It's all well and good that the ''big hitters' have now approached the lectern and accepted the microphone, but where were you while this was happening? I was critical of Chris Wood, however Chris went up 100 notches when he resigned from the ATA or at least the leadership [am I correct Chris?] and denounced the org as paper tigers, and I'm being polite. This hasn't crept up and bitten you on the arse? or has it? blind Freddy could see this happening, other countries addressed their racing issues, especially over the ditch, God knows the Aussies have their shortcomings, don't we all, however no lack of foresight there when it came to racing and it's future. They recognised the importance of the industry to all, employment, Government revenue streams, etc......but here? Midget has eased up on the CEO, however both CEO'S should go, the buck stops with them, Mr Purcell releasing that strategic plan back in 2011, as the CEO he is ultimately responsible, as for the NZRB, that needs a total overhaul. I'm speaking through my pocket, never again will I believe what I read released from any racing body here, having lost my best owner/investor due to failed plan/s ex the NZRB/NZTR why would I? Our core business funds our racing/breeding enterprise here, no one is holding a gun to our heads, yes. however if there are hundreds like us, well then a decent, informed racing minister should take note of all that Gov revenue lost! Will they? maybe after militant action by the industry, have they got the fortitude? Our Latin American investors are willing to front a Government inquiry as to their reasons for pulling out of a potential 20 million dollar commitment to our industry....and me!..........if only such an inquiry would happen, what do you think?
  16. Don't forget about us down here in the CD!.......and the poor buggers in the SI...........it's not all about the 'north'.....although I know you have the 'whole' industry in mind, so thats reassuring.
  17. Whatever Mug, I can't justify a reply.
  18. Oh gee, must be raining and the kids need something to do.........
  19. You must be an outsider looking in, most of us know that it's the ones that extend themselves that little bit more that are more vulnerable........not a high horse fella, just pissed when a trawler gets on here.
  20. Buddy, you obviously don't know what end bites, keep your mug comments to yourself, even though scooby can fight fight his own corner.
