So junior stable employees are allowed to be interviewed on TV about their stable runners and likely scenarios, but an experienced trainer/driver is censured for the same thing?
And people wonder why the leadership of the industry is considered a joke. Their decisions would make more sense if Monty Python wrote the script for them!

Mate of mine who clocks everything in the deep south tells me his personal last 2400m (post to post) was 2.51.8 - well inside the NZ record - and he was held up through the middle half by horses struggling to keep up!
    Not a bad pipe opener!

    Amazing run first up today.
    Smashed the clock ...
2.55.9 for the 2400 - Only 1.5 sec outside the NZ record after having no favours in the run.
53.2 last half (25.6 from the 800 to the 400, followed by 27.6 last quarter)
No workouts or trials to sharpen him so he can only get better!

There's good and bad, competent and incompetent, ethical and unethical members of every profession ... the veterinary profession is no different. To suggest otherwise is either extremely naive or extremely self serving.
If your regular tirades are anything to go by, everyone on the planet, with the obvious exception of your good self, is a complete fuckwit. I believe the odds against such a situation actually being true are in the vicinity of 7 billion to one!
No doubt you're around about the mark with much of the stuff you post, but your god like opinion of your own capabilities is somewhat misplaced.

In the grand scheme of things Shartin's breeding is ordinary at best, and in no way correlates with her racetrack ability. Her lack of breeding obviously hasn't stopped her being a standout freakish performer in her own right. But history tells us she won't be able to pass that freakishness on to her progeny. She's a genetic anomaly, and anomalies don't replicate themselves, no matter how much you wish it to be so Iraklis!

Having dealt with many vets over many years I can assure you 99% of them gravitate towards two things - what the client demands, and where the money is. Finding a truly "independent" vet with no vested interests, and purely interested in animal health is near impossible.
That said, it's a tricky road they tread - equine health and equine performance are bound to conflict at some point.
The latest fad, Autologous Conditioned Serum, is just another way of blurring the boundary between the two goals. As an injury treatment it has many justifiable uses. As a racing treatment it has only one purpose - to disguise pain and artificially sustain performance.
The company's own literature promote it as having an "overall anti-inflammatory and pain-blocking response throughout the body".
It's one and only purpose in a racing horse is to over-ride the bodies warning signs (pain and inflammation) and allow the horse to perform beyond the level it would have without the treatment.
Once the bodies warning signs are ignored, horses (particularly good ones) push themselves to an unnatural level - eventually causing further injury and/or breaking down.
Who is using this treatment and where the good horses are breaking down would make for interesting reading. Certainly more interesting than a choreographed PR exercise on The Box Seat!

How about these figures from last weeks racing in Tasmania where they had 2 meeting - Hobart on Friday night and Launceston on Sunday.
On the Friday night they had a 7 race card with a total of 71 horses engaged - including 40 from the Ben Yole stable
On Sunday they had an 8 race card with a total of 87 horses engaged - including 52 from the Ben Yole stable
A total of 158 raced in Tasmania for the week - 92 of them from one stable!
Kudos to the stable for getting such huge numbers on to the track for each race, especially this one ... the entire 12 horse field!

OMG Tasman Man. We all knew you like to go in to bat for the underdog, but this dog has rabies and needs to go back to the trials to be vaccinated!
What you saw as "exhilarating" and "exciting", almost everyone else saw as a "shambles" and a "circus". It was like watch a slow motion train wreck unfolding!
Apart from the cage fighting and demolition derby crowd I'm not sure who else it would have appealed to. Serial masochists maybe?
Tim may even be reviewing his recommendation of you for the ATC board after that diatribe!

I don't doubt the ability or good intentions of the participants, but for now their "product" is only half built, and being showcased at one of our major tracks is not an option.
The club need to take a fair chunk of responsibility for the shambles that unfolded with the poorly thought out conditions of eligibility.
By all means let them "do it poorly at first", but please not on the big stage and definitely not offered up as an example of what we expect people to bet on.
They need to go back and do some beta testing at the trials before re-releasing their program to the public!

The success of the monte style races overseas would indicate that there may be a place for it here, but .... not now.
In an era when the entire game is battling for the public to take it seriously it makes a joke of everything to put on a "circus spectacle" like we witnessed on Friday night.
The monte format needs to go back to the trials for at least 12 months so that:
the horses can get some experience the riders can get some experience the trainers can educate their horses to race under saddle The format has potential here but at the moment the standard of most of the participants (horses and riders) is so far below a professional level that it can not be allowed to be presented as a betting product, let alone at one of our major tracks.

JackSprat got a reaction from Bruce J Hadley in Can the Auckland Trotting Club survive?
The question has to be asked if the Auckland Trotting Club can survive in the wake of the mammoth losses incurred in the property development venture?
There's also the "elephant in the room" of the pending court cases that could double the losses again!
Will they end up having to sell Alexandra Park and move out of Auckland altogether?
Where are the property development guru's now that they brought onto the board to oversee this disaster?
How the hell did the recently departed CEO win awards for her "brilliant management" of the development?
Who in their right mind would bring the guy that designed the CTV building in Christchurch onto the project team?
Are the current stakemoney levels just an "ego trip" for the board given that the club could be insolvent within 12 months?
Is it time for a Cambridge based contingency plan should the ATC be forced to sell up and move out of Auckland?
Is taking pot shots at Garrick Knight for reporting the truth the best the ATC board has got to avoid admitting incompetence?

My thoughts exactly. I'd imagine the lost income from the property they intend to sell would be similar to or even exceed the interest saving, so little if any net improvement in their position at all. And they'll end up getting screwed in the sale of the property seeing that it's common knowledge that they're in "fire sale" mode.
These pending court cases will pretty much determine whether they can survive or not. If they go south and the losses happen to double things will get interesting.
I hope those independent directors that were brought in to oversee this whole debacle have plenty of professional indemnity insurance!

Initially I didn't think he looked quite as sharp as he has been in his earlier races ....  but ..... running  a 1.56mr over 2600 on a wet track, after working for the first 400m to find the front, and seeing the sprint lane for the first time, at just you're 7th race start, can do that to you!
He did what only good horses can do last night - he found a way to win even when he looked beaten.
Absolute excitement machine who can only come back even better after a freshen up now!
Into $7 now for the NZ Cup after only 7 starts!
