Taku Umanga reacted to Historian in FFA races Cambridge and Auckland
On the contrary, Arna wanted to take Taipo out of the race and in to an easier one and was declined.
You can draw your own conclusions as to what happened next.
Why should anyone be forced to put a vastly inferior horse in against a champion?

Three days in the central circuit as well - Omakau / Roxburgh / Wyndham (grass at Cromwell)
Omakau had a huge crowd last year despite being "miles from the people" and I'm told it always does

Taku Umanga reacted to CeeMeNow in Who makes the money?
Last December the Banks Peninsular Cub, ( Motukarara ) population 612, had a T/O of $1.73m , which was the highest harness T/O for the month, even though Addington and ATC had race meetings. That T/O would be 70% higher than any of Auckland's Group One meetings, and how are Auckland going to improve their public image when they choose to race 41 horse meetings?
I don't think Auckland should be congratulated for anything they have done in recent years! Along with Addington they receive additional funding, I do not think they earn it, or deserve it.
While grass track racing can be very weather dependent, they all perform well in the South Island, as the turnovers show, they are family friendly destinations which allow the next generation to get up close with our prime asset, the horse!
This is something our two major tracks fail to achieve.

Taku Umanga got a reaction from Keneperu in Why do they have crossing on grass trotting tracks
Pretty sure there's an all weather jog track inside the Methven race track

I believe prior to this latest decision he had already been given an exemption to transport horses to and from racing stables
-
Taku Umanga got a reaction from Iraklis in Why aren't starters held to account
The owners should still get the "also ran" fee but they don't when the horse is late scratched - the punters get looked after but the owners don't, which is unfair imho

Taku Umanga reacted to Spikecity in Why aren't starters held to account
FAST ACE - checked by a breaking runner late in the score up losing all chance. Authorization of placings was withheld until Stewards had reviewed the film of the start with the gelding being declared a non runner by Stewards under Rule 213(1)(j).
It was obvious to one and all that the horse had been interfered with and even the driver had his hand held in the air to let the starter know, but the starter failed to see it.
Yes it was a late scratching so the punters don't miss out but the connections of the horse still have to pay all associated fees and yet there is not even a mention of a warning let alone a fine for the starters incompetence

Punched, choked and then kicked he in the head when she was down .....

Taku Umanga reacted to MAJESTIC in Matt Anderson: GUILTY
Why should we have to wait till November 24th for sentence.
Found guilty, sentence him now, lock him up and throw key away.
No place for a female basher in our world and industry.
Also a druggie as well isn't he?

Taku Umanga reacted to Pegasus 9 in Matt Anderson: GUILTY
A coward and a bully. Hopefully he will get to see how it feels if he gets a custodial sentence. And one thing is certain, if he can do something like that to a female or anybody for that matter

Taku Umanga reacted to eljay in CD harness racing to be thrown a lifeline
Looks like Taranaki is a dirty word. No Hawera, no Stratford, no New Plymouth. This area (from a punting perspective) will join the Hawkes Bay

Easter at Hawera is like xmas on the coast, some traditions need keeping.

Biggest injustice imo is Hawera

Taku Umanga reacted to Stables in Brace yourself for serious stake cuts
If funding is reduced by 25%, as indicated by Holden, it is imperative that this reduction should be made at the top level. For example, the New Zealand Cup could be run for $150,000 rather than $600,000 and still have the same field. Stakes at the lower level are already way too low. If you win a race you would be lucky if the stake won would cover 2 months training fees. If racing is going to continue there must be incentives at the lower end to at least give owners a chance of covering costs
