We've previously bought alot of lower priced broodmares, weanlings & other stock at the May Mixed sale. Have't been to Karaka to any sales for about 3 years now. Have done all our buying online - sight unseen, unless local & easily viewed. Has actually been far better. Have been able to contact vendors prior & find out more about the horses on offer. Anything with issues we've known what we were taking on, rather than at the sales - where in numerous cases - we found out after! Far more cost effective for both vendor & purchaser.

Been fascinated to read all the comments on social media about why he won't come out of the gates. We spent a lot of last winter puzzling a similar thing with one of our horses. She loves working. Loves Racing & is 100% fit, healthy, happy & in no pain. But took to getting slower & slower away. We tried a few gear changes & they didn't work. Everyone else seemed to get super stressed at the gates wanting her to jump & she got 1000% worse! Once we pusuaded everyone to just back off & leave her be, she decided to jump out again. Though it's still on her terms & I'd never bet on what she's going to do. She's very strong minded & likes very set routine. If anything isn't to her liking then she's not happy. Sometimes you just have to accept that you can't control everything. Chautauqua looks like the kind of horse that knows his own mind & will definitely have the final word on the subject.

Raceday saddle only used couple of times. Imported from USA. Black patent leather. Excellent condition. 1kg or 1.5kg - need to re-weigh it. Has 4 pockets for lead weights. No use now. Really nice to ride in. $150

We've bought a couple off the online auctions. Made sure we rang the vendors & had a good talk about the horses before bidding. Have been very happy with them. But we've also taken on quite a few previously raced horses people have bought online without doing plenty of checking & they'd been dumped for a reason. Lots of problems, only 1 has been suitable to continue as a racing prospect. We've put a couple of broodmares on last year. But unless it's a genuinely high value horse it was a struggle to sell even unreserved.

Great environment to relax & unwind. Maximum 6 outside horses. Full pre-training service ideally suited to horses who need individual attention/programmes or a variety of work to build fitness - we've had 30 + years experience. Our property is a mix of flats, rolling & hills. It's well tracked & great for building fitness. We also visit the beach, use the arena & facilities at Tielcey Park and go into Awapuni track regularly. We breed & train our own racehorses, plus sporthorses - have our own 9 horse truck, so transportation is easy, including to jump outs etc. Our riders are experienced & well balanced - able to get the best from your horse. If your horse needs hand walking before starting ridden work, they are fully competant at leading out from our guide horses or lunging.We only take a maximum of 4 outside horses, so you can be assured your horse will get plenty of attention. This is an intergral part of all our own horses' fitness programmes. Liz has over 25 years experience in equine massage and bodywork. Each treatment is tailored to suit the individual horse, with the goal being to help maximise freedom and elasticity. Being ridden (even correctly) adds stress to the horses' body. Does your horse bite or get grumpy when being girthed? Does it only canter on 1 lead? Does it feel stiff? Does it have trouble bending? Is it bad tempered & getting worse? Has it had an injury & now doesn't move as freely? Is it an equine athlete that you want to get the best performance from? Is it old & feeling a bit stiff? Our equine massage/bodywork is suprisingly good at helping these problems. It's well tolerated...most horses just bliss out! It's also good for helping reduce anxiety. Itsa Belt 11yo bay broodmare by Istidaad out of Golden Belt (half sister to the dam of Mega Belt). Really good natured, good doer. Approx 16.1hh. Dam of 1 foal to race so far - Itsallbelt - winner & placegetter. 2 younger foals yet to race. Currently empty, not served last season. We have a super yearling filly (chestnut) out of her by City on a Hill. Have decided though that we don't need as many broodmares as we currently have. Only to good home.
