See were ACT State has banned Greyhound Racing from April 2018 wonder how long it will be before the Greens start pushing the barrow he now they have some influrence in Goverment
In not the to distance future Auckland will be dead and buried along with Waikato and Group races shared between other clubs which will be a saving in travel costs for South Island trainers.
Marks a bloody nice chap nows the ins and outs of the sport knows his dogs, good anaysts but thats it better in front of the camera than behind the mike.
With the same kennels dominating CD meetings do people think its getting to the point of same old same old be intresting so find out the percentage of the stake money on offer they take each week its certinaly a numbers game which only a few can substain.
I remember a Anzac Day meeting in the late sixties when a meeting was held at Avondale as well as Te Awamutu the first race was a highweight and the last race at TA was also a highweight and oftern some rides would ride in both races. This day i went with a mate and his jockey brother and their dad to Avondale on the way back to TA we stopped at Huntly TAB and the dad placed a bet on horse in the last at TA as i found out later 5 jockeys riding in the race had given money to father to back the winner of the highweight at TA. Yes its been going on for years and i would say it goes on today
Ray Adcock a few years ago trained a bitch called Ronray Disco a sprinter she was a above average sprinter wining times were nothing to get excited about. She was sentback to Aussie when finished racing and used for breeding her off spring from 2 litters have left some pretty smart city glass dogs in NSW and Victoria winning Group races and competing and beating the best. Yes there is always exception to the rule.
Just a thought on the breeding only with bitches that have won a C1 500 mtr would it have needed to run a certain time as would you breed from a bitch that may have 4-5, 500 MTR races but below average times
We all breed hoping to get 500 meter plus dogs but it always doesnt goes to plan and end up with 300-400 meter off spring and you are left with no alternative to race them to recoup your outlay.
