  1. make racing affordable for the broard spectrum of racegoers/owners as this has seen the recent decline in on-course attendance and enjoyment factor in the thoroughbred industry. Reduce admission prices to public areas as these stands now sit empty and seriously look at initiatives to bring back the crowds. e.g (other entertainment, infield bigscreens, security controlled BYO drink/bbq areas ...GOD FORBID but unfortunately you lot @ the top that is what is required to return racing to its former glory.
  2. He sounds like a good bloke...just been through a lean tipping patch lately...like the rest of Australasian punters
  3. Lord Module...ahhh the good ole days
  4. My birthday today and have day off so will watch with interest...but gloss gone from harness watching since mick gone...The Whale best of a bad bunch ...most of my horses break up these days so form not all its cracked up to be...look a wee bit outside the square...read between the lines...agree course/distance stats needed...where do they get these blokes from?
  5. Agreed the carnival was a punters nightmare and again the only way to have made money out of it was if you had a well organised staking plan that you did,nt deviate from or old great aunt molly,s lucky numbers popped up in the tri and you made a killing. As for Thommo and his hot fav,s...That all went by the wayside with under-arm bowling , it was just a shame Baz was unable to snag a value winner. Thommo nothing is more annoying than listening to oh i would of / should of / could of ....instead yours is ...what a brilliant win or stating the obvious about a race we have just watched and pre race your singing the praises of the sizzling hot favourite that gets rolled that would take your next 4 sizzling hot favourites to win to recover the money lost. I just can,t believe your getting about like you boast c/o the punt. If you actually are and can prove me wrong i,m keen to hear from you and will put an apology on here to you.
  6. Speed maps???...just a simple bad barrier draw will put paid to/aid a horses chances in combination with how/where it normally jumps or settles in it,s races... We are all experts after the race.
  7. Took the time to watch trackside this morning after recent posts on the staff...Watching Karen and Stu,s tips is like watching paint dry...good piece on Spiro ...not a bad effort securing Brett Davidson (He is my favourite Aussie Tipster)...Karen should have felt priveledged to have a tipster of his ability on board instead of taking on the Hostess/School teacher role Poor ole George Simon obviously a ring in for Tony Lee at Feilding...Probably had to call at the Cambridge Trots Thurssday night,Auckland trots Friday night.... ( I havn,t actually seriously taken the time to look at their workload)...Can,t be easy remembering all the colours/trainers/horses names in the limited times between meetings and have to travel between meetings only to find out the last race is after the last flight home before your rest day ...very demanding and straining on relationships. You wouldnt want a family... Hope these Guys are being well rewarded for keeping the industry ticking over.
  8. I think you may be onto the roughy in the race...Good Luck Tipsmit!
  9. yeah Americain looks the goods after impressive caulfield cup run and Alcopop and Zabeelionaire also in the hunt...who gets the sweet run...Wins
  10. Beautiful twizzler, Yep they did say the last victory was against a second string lot and that along with loyal Aussies... helped your price, and oh to be a kiwi on course with a wadful from Roger James and Silent Achiever earlier in the day. I,ve had quite a few days myself like that in Auz. I was on course at Hastings ...Agree with all the congratulations
  11. Only Peter Kelly,Keith Haub or George Simon hold a candle to this bloke... They are all Top notch and I,d be keen to know the real reasons surrounding the departure... Burnout would be a totally understandable reason . He departs as a legend in my books anyway. All the best for the future Tony...Whatever you choose to pursue.
  12. well i hope ole jimmy just lets the natural speed of the horse from the barrier move him over into the running line... and the natural tendency of half the field to settle mid-field or worse ...which will see him about 8th on the outer ...Take the lead down the back , give them the slip entering the straight and pump all the way to the line...Stand up in his irons and give a jubilant fist pump... Zabeels 2nd and 3rd.
  13. done the Haka when jimmy brought might and power out and won...go da pumpa. good form .can get da blows...i,ll still be on.
  14. ya might have me christopher...I don,t mind a bit of travel myself. I,ll leave it till these 3 teenagers leave home and hopefully we get a string of sunlines, will join you in 1st class
  15. Is there a method to your madness CT? how do you decide how much goes on the snorter? staking plan is it? It,s just i reckon too many auz hotpots get beaten too often to make it a viable pastime...I am watching with interest but.
  16. Hey Idolmite hows it going? That comment has to be tongue in cheek surely? From where i sit...(and that,s on the bank in the cold with a hot-dog) Your mob have been able to be snookered 3 back on the inside for years...hence the passing lane. I reckon if you have a bet... it is all about reading between the lines so all this corruption stuff just adds an extra variable into the equation. I have staking plans which if followed should put you on top punting wise but sticking to them is another story. I remember my Pops sitting there on a Fri/Sat night listening to the tonight show/radio pacific ...some of the old names that spring to mind are Lord Module,Paul command,Sapling,Koala King,Rocky Tryax,...and they were the more recent ones
  17. All jokes aside but the way Jonnie Brite said David Hay-worths name 5 times on Saturday morning on trackside had to be seen to be believed. Obviously he was then corrected in his ear piece and he said it correctly once... before converting back to Hay-worth... His mis-pronunciation could get him into trouble one day...How would he pronounce Davids training partners surname?
  18. I don,t expect you,ll hear back from him...I have spent some great days on aussie racecourses in all states where they have underestimated the chances of the kiwi horses in major races who have ultimately saluted the judge. I have backed them as a kiwi and because they pay over the odds and offer value. Some of the best memories are the many Qld Winter and Melb Cup Carnivals...These Aussie lovers jump out of trees to Label new champions each week. I heard the Aussie presenter this morning on trackside say Ocean Parks win yesterday was in a B grade Group 1 Field.
  19. excuse my ignorance CT but why would you bother backing your nags for a place ...if they get beaten they have generally been hung out to dry and scrubbed up on the turn to further reduce their chances or sit in behind leader only to be 3 back on fence as others improve on turn and get chopped to pieces trying to get out... To your credit though i have to admit you got 4 bucks for a 3 buck (1 buck win ) I have to admit i do prefer trying to pick more value winners ...Will be interesting to follow progress as if baz can get a cpl of value selections home there will be very little in it.
  20. Oh yeah, just while i remember it as well...an older mate said to me the other day that he is finding it increasingly harder to get a teller to take his bets at the TAB as the do it yourself machines are becoming more the norm...this will possibly cut back on the wage bill but by the same token will lower customer satisfaction and service. I went to get some money out of my TAB a/c last nightfor takeaways and there was a note on the door Closed due to staff sickness.
  21. Hi Bruce, I only joined racecafe last week, read the comp rules in your post and put proisir in as the lay in the hope dundeel and james could upset them. and get away to a flyer...I was aware others had selected the same result so after checking on saturday night on the results thread...realised it was 4th week of the comp. A genuine mistake but on reading the rules again i see need to be registered before closing of 1st race....my own fault. will be more onto it and in to next one.
  22. I,ll put my five cents worth in here for what it is worth...My favourites in a changing world are / were George Simon and Tony Lee for coluorful accurate and interesting commentaries, Brendan Popplewell, and Des Coppins (radio) hardworking raceday interviews and Aiden Rodley on the breeding scene...But as you say these people probably have far too much experience and knowledge to offer the racing public. This may well be good on the PR front but not so good as far as chinking at the tills go...which is obviously the favoured outcome at present.I went to all three days of the Hastings Spring Carnival as usual but unfortunately missed the company of closest family and friends who refused to pay the ridiculous prices as far as they were concerned at the gate and overpriced drinks under the new format.Maybe a bring your own BBQ and Chilly Bin section could have also been included.
  23. Proisir in the Spring champion stakes... Go the kiwi,s. If scratched...Lamasery in the Metropolitan
  24. Enjoy your posts...keep them coming. It is good to see how the top price Karaka buys go breeding wise as early racehorses, from a punters perspective. your recent includes have been interesting and profitable. I might even start having a dollar E/W on them.
  25. Hi Sheriff, I have made 2 posts which shows up under my profile picture and a comment 0 warnings How does the warning system work? Similar to rugby with red and yellow cards? and what is considered an infringement?
