Uriah Heap got a reaction from Memphis2 in Rio
I just heard this kicks off on Saturday. I must say I'm a bit underwhelmed by the whole affair this time around. I think this is because of all the negativieity around the event, what with Zika virus, sports that shouldn't be there and doped up Russians. I remember back in the day really looking forward to it for months out. But no longer.
Still, I suppose when Usain Bolt lines up in the Final of the 100 meters I'll get fairly excited.

What a weekend of rugby. The format might be hard to follow, but everyone knew it was all on the line on Saturday night. That was no holds barred rugby of the highest order.

    Geography lesson
When Europeans first arrived in Kapiti, the Maori could travel by canoe from Paekakariki to Waikanae. From the hills and 3/4's of the way to the sea was largely wetlands, and any development there on, is built on these wetlands, much like Awapuni racecourse (and the Christchurch eastern suburbs). However, out by the coast (e.g. Paraparaumu Golf Course), it's sand based (old sand dunes) and the drainage is excellent.

The problem with Meomy is he has not noted history. If he had, he would know that immigrants have often arrived with a bad wrap in various countries. Think Chinese to US or NZ. Italians to US or Aus. Irish to just about any country. The list is much longer, but you get the picture. All these immigrants arrived with a few bad arses and genearlly struggled against prejudice. However with the passing of time they settled in and the vast majority became solid citizens who contributed robustly to the good health of the countries they moved too.

Greyhound racing is a soft target. It's a working class sport and as such has very little political clout. The Politicians and the media can kick it about with impunity, whenever they please.

A truly great sportsman and a very influential person. His sharp mouth, conversion to Islam, stance on the Vietnam war, comeback, big fight tactics, all made him a huge personality for people of my generation throughout the world..

That's right.  We don't want  Melbourne Cup like goings on in this country.  New Zealand Cup Day shouldn't be all about lots of people getting together drinking and having a good time.  It should be all about getting twenty or so old people on track washing their medications down with a cup of tea before watching a bunch of slow ones run a couple of miles.

They have this overseas. It's called the "Bachelorette". One girl and 12 big beef cakes vying for her attention. I don't think I'd enjoy that as much.

I'm starting to lean toward Trump now. I just want to see what will happen if he becomes President. Especially that wall between US and Mexico. I'm wondering if and when it's built, will President Trump man it with personnel known as "The Black Watch"?

Hammers win their final game at Upton Park, prior to move to Olympic Stadium, and a Kiwi scores the winning goal. WHAT A GREAT PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON IT HAS BEEN.

I'd say the Warriors have some rotten eggs and a one win won't wallpaper over the cracks. Hurrell should never play for the top team again and I'd send Vatuvai on his way as well. That will send a message that no one is above the team.

Always had a soft spot for Sunderland, since the Porterfield goal in 1973. Now have a mate who loves them so I'm supportin them to stay up this season.
One team I think will be a great bet to come straight back up are Aston Villa. However the smart chaps at the TAB have probably already worked that out and will have them at very narrow odds.
I wonder if the bookies will give 5000 -1 about any team in the Premier League next season??

He's started the season off in fine style. On both attack and defence.
Let's hope that anger keeps bubbling away cause the All blacks will need him in the form he's in.

It was nice to see those "old warriors" Corey Jane and Isreal Dagg, produce games that harked back to their glory days.Jane got the fend going and Dagg had those twinkling feet working like we haven't seen in quite some time. Maybe they're not ready to go out to pasture just yet.
