  1. I read in the Dom Post yesterday about three separate Chinese drivers and an Indian (overseas visitors) who had been pulled up for bad driving. One chap thought he could pass wherever there were no yellow lines, including blind corners. He also got up to 134 kph and did not realise that you had to pull over for cop cars with flashing lights - so he didn't.
  2. I posted at the time of his appointment that I did not think Kirwin was the man for the job at the Blues. His record with Italy and Japan was not that good. Having said that, I'd then ask "Who could successfully Coach the Blues". The whole set up appears a basket case and a poisoned chalice for any Coach.
  3. They've rounded the top mark, raised the spinnaker and headed straight for the Law Courts (again).

    Oops

$200 million could fund plenty of extra Teachers or Hospital staff and equipment, or roading or maybe even ensure the Auckland Convention Centre is not an "eyesore".
  5. I was at the Cake Tin on Friday. What a game, what an atmosphere. One that will live on in my mind. Never had a chance to get lost in the queue for beer and food as there was no opportunity to leave the action. Got home for Dinner.
  6. I don't think it's so much that the Media are "turning on Carter". More that they are acknowledging the strength of the other 1st 5's. Cruden, Barrett and Slade all had solid games on the weekend and were instrumental in their teams victories. Todd Blackadder would have to stick with Slade as his 1st 5 on that effort. He's looking better and better all the time. Carter needs to win that battle (to be Crusaders No.1 1st 5) first. If he can do that, then he's back in the frame for All Black 1st 5.
  7. Very sharp of you bwd. You'll note the deliberate change of spelling of the word Heep (Heap). As in "He speaks a HEAP of shit most of the time".
  8. The thing with Carter is that it's now been a long time since we've seen him anywhere near his best. He was not too far off it at the end of last Super 15, but then he broke the bone and he was gone...again. Meanwhile the others have well and truely caught up. Barrett's faster, Cruden has better slight of hand. Barrett will be playing week in week out with Nonu and Cruden with SBW over the next 4 months. Working on those combinations. I reckon the biggest thing Dan Carter still has going for him is his goal kicking. All the others give me the jitters. Goal kicking will be vital come the World Cup games.
  9. That supposed drive from Hutt to Palmy and back in peak trafffic inside 3 hours was laughable. And then to have the resident nutcase testify that she had seen Lundy running to his car. What were the Police thinking. That aside I don't think there were too many people who doubted that the Cops had fingered the right man. The financial problems, the life insurance, the amatuerish attempts to make it look like a break in, the exaggerated grief at the funeral and the subsequent revelations about a man with who was puffed up, overconfident and inappropriate, who became worse with alcohol, all pointed toward this. Despite this I still believe the defence will create enough doubt in the Juries minds and they'll find him "Not Guilty".
  10. I'd expect the 2nd tier to be able to step up early in the season when your All Blacks are still underdone. For example Charlie Ngatai and Liam Squire from the Chiefs, Brad Shields and Motu Matu'u from the Canes, Richard Buckman from the Highlanders.
  11. And now the Black Widow from Christchurch is about to appeal her conviction. Her Lawyer is arguing that "Overseas experts" don't agree that the hubby was poisoned. Don't you just love those "overseas experts"?? If you look hard enough you will always find an overseas expert happy to disprove what the local experts have said.
  12. You're smart bloke, bloke. While there will be plenty that points to him as the most likely killer, there is no evidence we know of, that means Lundy can be found guilty beyond reasonable doubt. Not when compared to other cases I mentioned in an earlier Post.
  13. By the end of the round the Crusaders had good company in the form of Sharks and Warratahs. Some of those 2nd tier Crusaders just don't look up to it. The likes of Dominic Bird, Tom Taylor, O'Niel etc.
  14. I'd agree with "jail house confessions". They have little credabilty and smacks of desperation. However, I recall a TV documentary that interviewed former friends of the Lundy's. They mostly noted Mark Lundy as an egotistical, braggard. In light of this the Prosecution might be going to say this personality type would skite about his crime to a cellmate.
  15. I can confirm this one. I was pakeha and got the strap (primary school) and the cane (secondary school) on numerous occasions. Often for minor infringements when the teacher was in a bad mood.. I also recall having chalk and dusters thrown at me.
  16. The defence have opened with the David Bain - Chris Kahui move. Accuse another family member.
  17. He was charged with murder, the case against him appeared compelling, he was found not guilty.
  18. I see Mark Lundy is back for another Trial. I reckon he'll look at Ewen MacDonald, David Bain, Chris Kahui and Oscar Pistorious and he'll be expecting to be found, "Not Guilty".
  19. It's about to kick off this weekend. Possibly a bit early for my liking. I haven't really completed a good pre-season. Mostly a diet of cricket watching, which doesn't really prepare you for the rough and tumble of 1st class rugby viewing. My remote arm feels a bit soft and not yet hardened. Still, what can you do? I'll be there Friday night at 7.35pm in front of the telly.
  20. Tiger said the problem with his back was that he had "deactivated glutes", because of a one hour delay. That will mean his medical people have told him that to alleviate the pressure on your back you must get your glutes (bum muscles) working. So he'd have had massage and done stretches, etc, prior to the round. Provided he keeps moving during the hour delay, the glutes are not going to "deactivate". That's rubbish. He's over analysing. I think Tiger's been given Jacob Oram's phone number and they've been talking.
  21. I was a fairly regular watcher of this on Skye Channel 69 and upset to see it gone. I watched alot of the Aussie rules and the extreme sports stuff. I don't think we will get the Aussie rules on skye this coming season.
  22. That's quite interesting about land ownership prior to 1895. I would assume that if you were from "The Empire" (which Ireland was part of) you could purchase land, otherwise you could not. Most of those Colonists (probably not the Irish) in the 1800's would have viewed themselves as British not Kiwi. However one of my forebearers from Germany farmed Hops and Tobacco near Upper Moutere in Nelson in the 1800's. I'd always assumed he owned this farm.
  23. That was great footage of when the Cops finally stormed the building. I hope they all knew what they were shooting at cause from how it looked it surprising everyone in the building wasn't killed. Interestingly in line with earlier Postings on here - It was a sniper who alerted his mates to go ii, as he saw things were turning ugly inside the building. Clearly he could not get a shot away.
  24. What they wouldn't give for that "Myth" to come and Coach the Warriors.
  25. "Morning Mrs Jones, how's your birds lumbago?"
