  1. Loved that try to win the game. Is that try of the season to date? Given the state of the match at the time, I think it is.
  2. The fact is you boys are talking about the Warriors - as such, you have no idea how they will go next week, or any other week for that matter.
  3. The US Taxman nailed Alphonse-Gabrriel Capone on tax evasion. Al never saw it coming. He couldn't see outside of his narrow world. Mired in the past, lacking vision, Al went to Alcatraz. When released he realised he was yesterday's man and died a sad old bastard.
  4. Talking of good old shows. I recall hearing that we don't get Steptoe and Son repeats, because many of the reels deteriorated to the point that they were unplayable.
  5. A predictable win, but at least it broke a terrible run of losses. Next task is to string a few together.
  6. Five rounds in and which players are performing. Cruden, Ngatai, McKenzie from the Chiefs. Ardie Savea from the Hurricanes, Collins from the Highlanders. What do they all have in common? They did not play in the World Cup. A number of those who did, are still warming to the task.
  7. The breakdown by electorates depresses me even further. It's all very frustrating to see how politics hi-jacked the whole thing. This referendum ended up nothing to do with the flag. They may as well have asked - Option A - Do you think John Key is a good bloke? Option B - Do you think John Key is a tosser?
  8. I'm gutted about this result. As a long time Labour voter, I was willing to overlook the Key and cost elements, both of which did not sit well with me. I just wanted a change. One which would remove the Union Jack and not have our flag mistaken for any other when it flew at world events. I wanted a true Kiwi flag. When the NZ team walk into the arena a Rio with that old fashioned, colonial, relic of the British Empire, Australian lookalike, monstrosity leading the way, I shall have to leave the room. I don't think there will be another shot at this. The risks are not worth it for whichever politician promotes the change.
  9. I have no problem with the various recent posts. Race Cafe has always been a bit that way, in fact the vitriol used to be far more prevalent. I usually get bored with it before I get offended. I reckon 80% is tongue in cheek and needs to be treated as such.
  10. Now I see Geoff Old (Manawatu and All Blacks - late 70's early 80's) has some form of brain injury which he is attributing to rugby. That is sad to hear. Old is saying the worst knocks he took were at Manawatu practices. He says if you didn't get back up you were seen as soft and dropped. Probably all true, but would a warning at the time have changed anything.? Not one bit. Imagine a Dr showing up at the Manawatu practice in 1980 (the year they won the NPC) and saying, "Hang on boys those knocks will likely cause you a brain injury in later life." What do you think Cowboy Shaw, Axle Knight, Filthy Frank Oliver and Bullet Donaldson would have said to that Dr? He'd have been lucky to get away with all his limbs intact. That "advise them of potential risks" statement by Crusty is rubbish. In 1980 if anyone knew about "Potential risks" (and I doubt anyone did), then nobody would have been listening. Such was the culture back then. No one should try and pretend otherwise.
  11. It's a bad time for a story such as this to come out, it being Junior rugby registration this month. I wouldn't be surprised if there is some link between rugby knocks and dementia, but there are many variables to discount first. The first thing I'd be asking the Taranaki rugby players from the early 60's is, "Did you have heavy drinking sessions following your Saturday rugby games?"
  12. I see the number of new flags, flying proudly in the neighbourhood, is steadily increasing. People are being converted and momentum for change is gathering pace. Vote for "The Fern and Stars".
  13. He's started the season off in fine style. On both attack and defence. Let's hope that anger keeps bubbling away cause the All blacks will need him in the form he's in.
  14. Poor old Nehe Milner-Skudder. Such a great season last year and now he's out for 6 months, maybe the whole of this season. Fate is a fickle master, whose will cannot be foretold.
  15. Would it be an over statement to say the Black Caps win over India would be their best win in any form of the game in the past five years? Take into account all the factors. India were 11 wins, one loss from their previous 12 20-20 games. India playing on their favourite dust bowl at Nagpur. India had rolled Black Caps easily on this pitch in a Test within the past year. India with all their quality spinners....etc, etc.
  16. These are two most pertinent points you make. They sum up Paul Henry perfectly. I'd suggest you change channels.
  17. Exactly - Consign it to history. Let people go to Te Papa to see it.
  18. The new flag looks magnificent flying high above many houses around my area. Meomy - The biggest problem with the current flag is that it has the British Union Jack in one corner.
  19. An usually bright start to the season. All the Kiwi sides looked good and would be satisfied with their showings.......except the Hurricanes. They were awful.
  20. I may not be sure how many teams are in the comp. I may have picked the Cheetahs in the first round, after thinking the Juguar's were a South African team. I may not be able to understand the pools system and who can make the finals. But ..... Super Rugby is back for another season, starting this weekend, when Tana and his team are thrown in the deep end. U beauty.

Yep we were well beaten. It's mainly disappointing because, for the past year I'd been looking fwd to this series in NZ as one we could win. Once Starc and Johnson were gone I was even more confident. However it turned out we weren't even close. I don't agree in righting us off all together. Boult and Southee are fairly high up in Test stats but they didn't really fire a shot this season, against Aus. Williamson also struggled until that final innings and Taylor was missing. Henry looks a promising bowler/No.8 batsman, Watling and Latham are solid in the positions they fill. I reckon the makings are there for a good team. They just need to fire.
  22. Blue for the sea and the sky, which we see plenty of in our great country. The Southern Cross that guides the way and the best feature of the previous flag. The Silver fern - our most recognisable symbol. Black because that's what nearly all our sporting teams compete in. You know it makes sense.
  23. Richie's with me on this one. I knew I had it right and now the "New Zealander of the Year", our greatest ever leader, has come out and confirmed it.
  24. Not only American politics. It's hard to see how any of his platforms won't lead to deteriorating race relations in the US and an increase in military aggression worldwide. Do you think he might be an ISIS mole? They must be rubbing their hands together at the thought of a Trump victory.
