  1. Request.....when folk start offering your picks , we have heard nothing other than Americain and Dunaden on here. It's highly likely that these 2 will feature in the top 4 or 5 again , we get that , can we have thoughts on who the other 2 or 3 that will feature in the finish !!! Thanks
  2. Re the commentators ,their workload and travel etc ,you are dead right. However these changes of late have come about because of TLee's departure so they are prob just fill ins. But these guys have been doing this for years, and folk here quick to criticise them especially in the South Island where extra travel involved . Plus ,so many maiden races with big fields and so many new horses.....not to mention the weather !!! These guys do a damn fine job.
  3. Picks....late as usual !! r1....2 & 5 r2....3 & 6 r3.....3 & 7 BB r4....6 & 9 r5....2 & 8 r6....1 & 7 r7....2 & 8 r8....5 & 9 r9 ....1 & 3 BB r10....2 & 6 Good Luck....go the Sharkieeeeessssss!!!!
  4. The negaholics used to rubbish Cambridge for both the size of fields and the fact that they put maiden trot races in the Pick 6 !!!Personally I find the trots a great opportunity to win some coin ,as the Dividends in Pick6 and quaddies are often great value and not too hard to Pick.People get a little excited when a gallops Pick 6 hits $300k ,but often there are 8 live chances in 5 of the races ,whereas at the trots often there is one or two anchors plus only 3 live chances in 2 other races. But cos its 'only' $40 or $50k you folk close your mind to the value there. The last 2 nights ,both 'puny' trots pick 6's have exceeded $9k ,both have had 2 x $1.40 to $1.90 shots included.Sure there have been the low class trots to survive.....tick the box "FIELD" or "ALL RUNNERS".There is nothing surer !!!And as Kenny said....you gotta know when to hold em ,know when to fold em, know when to walk away.Happy Pick 6'ing.ps...NO charge for these tips !!!
  5. Out of interest does anyone know how many times BLOSSOM LADY lined up in the Cup ?? I know she had over 155 starts for over 40 wins.....one tough lady !!!
  6. Chin up Memphis , basically my picks have been very poor.....hard to fathom as in recent weeks I've been doing well with some nice collects especially Quaddies ,but I suppose I usually take more than 2 per race.I did screw up the race numbers a few times but thats a poor excuse ,then last week I thought I'd play it real safe in must win week ,with It's a Dundeel etc ,Shuka etc and they got rolled and had one of worst totals ever.Maybe just over-confident that my classy team-mates would carry me.:DAnyway ,win today and we can become "Cream of the Crap !!".....win a plate or a bowl.Just wondering if rain which has swept thru here of late will hit Awapuni !!!May have to dampen my dart !!!Anyway , I'll do better......always can !!!Cheers
  7. M3 r6 It's A Dundeel Thanks Bruce , great job !!!
  8. The clues are running out but according to 'Tapestry of Turf' ER trained Roman Consul to win the Derby that year ,by Agricola and ridden by JRDowling. In view of Monaco Consul's success I think the next horse I name will be Tasman Consul .....or something Consul !!!
  9. 1974 Robalan burst away with his majestic free-legged action , while DDN had won as a young driver on Lordship in 1962 when the horse apparently didn't like the wet,,,a lovely black horse ,son of Johnny Globe and Dad of Lord Module. BUt few horses ever could match what Cardigan Bay did....win from 54 yards behind. The Flashing Red came away with his 2nd win from 15m ,an absolute massive performance, amazing stamina ,well under 4 mins as well. But I suppose Changeover up there, record time after being slow away. First memories tho were when my Dad went by car from Dunedin with the owner of Invicta......stopped at Rakaia on the way up a the horse was lame and doubtful , but somehow raced and won and the men in car did not back it !!! Dad never stopped talking about "the uncertainty" of racing after driving home with the Cup.
  10. Beaut drive on winner.....good draw ,trailled ,won well.
  11. Good luck blunt ,I hope you have good seats.....get on the train early and fight for your position. Consider Winchester in your tri's with OP. I like Proverb r1,Zydeco r3[by Zabeel] and old Wall Street for exotics. Good Luck
  12. The names PBurgess and Eric Ropiha were trainers out of Woodville, not to mention Syd Brown ???Horses that flashed into my memory were CD stayers....Cruizero, Lord Majestic ,Beechwood Road ,Aerosmith,Kaapeon,Greene Street,What A Hassle ,Fraxy ,Pakaraka Star,On Call,Shahwon and the one that really lept out...Tono Bungay and Ayub Khan.Obviously none of those tho The Veep nearly did it recently.I give up , my head is hurting !!!
  13. Fazza is the latest ,others just lost in the old memory....DGrubb is sending vibes....it may become clearer !!!
  14. I guess they were all cut out for the job.....geldings. They all didn't win a Melbourne Cup but surprisingly Wotan did.....not a big winner but did win the Feilding Cup which the two most recent of the five did as well[ albeit @ Awapuni]. 7 Forty 7 won many provincial cups especially Caltex @ Taranaki , while Whakamoa was strong around the Wanganui area for many years and an old fav of mine so with the Feilding Cup this weekend ,one imagines that is the key to this answer !!!
  15. Be positive hesi......even with these demons, he has in past and will do so in future, outperform most of the current bunch.
  16. ....scoring runs , 176 today after 117 not out yesterday. Domestic competition ,sure , but NZ needs his talent. Good Luck Jesse.
  17. Look out for the passing lane !!! Build your trifectas around ...r1 Continental Halo r2 All Star Man r3 Stent Race 5 Lunch Time ,r4 Hannah Jay [place],r6 Magna. I see MPurdon has plenty in ,Butt may be Butchered in the $50k races ,or will it be sushi on Tosti !!!
  18. Amazing.....there is always a lot to be learned from a black box !!!
  19. That's terrible Bruce......work has become the curse of the betting-class !!! Are you saying you won't be running the betting group you had in 2011....where from memory we put in $50 each ,spread the bets around and came away with a few $'s.
  20. Apart from a hopeful windfall of betting ,from a world wide audience ,what exactly would the benefits be for NZ of bringing plane-loads of UK horses to NZ for a one-off or series of horses. We don't like spending $20 to watch Ocean Park and Mufasa so how many would bother to watch your race on a track with no facilities. If it was this obvious ,why wouldn't Flemington or Sandown add this type of race to their Carnival ????For real top horses ,is it attractive to win a 3200m race ??That track in Japan earlier today looked as tho it could cope with a super-size field,
  21. Picks r1....4 & 6 r2...12 & 16 r3...1 & 11 BB r4...ellerslie...5 & 12 r5....1 & 7 r6...7 & 8 r7....1 & 7 r8....2 & 9 BB r9....1 & 6 r10...4 & 13 Sorry PJ about late post ,just realised races go back and forth ,must be the reason for previous dismal efforts. All sorted today....even Trentham has a firmish surface !!! Go the Sharkies !!!
  22. Pretty much sums it up. The horse was obviously trying to win ,was hot fav, sped out to lead ,kept the midrace attaker at bay and looked as if he was going to win in very fast race. Had he kept driving him hard I'm confident he would have won , so YES I'd say he was caught napping. The Beaudiene horse came fast at end to snatch it.
  23. Careful turny , the knockers will be back.Gotta admit ,Mondays run was a top one....good time too and he had some pretty good horses chasing.Had to withstand an unusual attack midrace from Mark Purdon.I just hope folk don't cry when AC serves it up in future.Very nearly held Dr Hook at bay ,I was shouting for him.Go the battlers !!!!
  24. That would be an amazing idea ,to fly the marvellous Mark up to call the staggering fields and amazing horses with the fantastic trainers and brilliant jockeys at the fantastic Trentham track. And it would be more remarkable if they took his Canterbury sidekick with him to introduce the fantastic days racing.Simply super !!Back to Tony Lee.....he's been an outstanding caller for some time ,clearly our best IMO.He could really hype things up , stir up the excitement etc even if he occasionally overdid it eg Xcellent in Mudgway. But he will be missed.....come across as having a genuine Kiwi personality .Accurate and entertaining. Thanks Tony
