  1. A stallion marketed as a Champion Sprinter who couldn't keep up in Aussie G1s = Lotto Stallion but good on them if they have won Lotto again. Tavistock's limited success doesn't change why the NZ Breeding industry is at it's current lows. Cambridge Stud lost its way last decade when they tried to breed for the Aussie 2Y0/Sprint Market - others followed his lead standing 3rd rate sprint stallions, in the process diluting the stout NZ bloodlines with inferior sprint blood. But instead of standing quality sprint stallions to compete with Aussie's best, Patrick Hogan trotted out the likes of One Cool Cat, boldly claiming this was the future of NZ breeding. When Redoutes Choice was booming, Hogan gave NZ Lucky Unicorn LOL! Tavistock is typical of the "Sprint" Stallions Hogan persisted with. He had given up on Tavistock in 2014 and publicly claimed he had found the one in "Burgundy" - then let his used car salesman sounding Stud Manager to make outrageous claims like: "If Burgundy had won the Telegraph, he would be standing at a Hunter Valley Stud" and "Burgundy was the fastest horse Bridgeman had ever trained" - so fast that Bridgeman had to manipulate the weights TWICE for Burgundy to fall in to win 2 poxy NZ Listed sprints. How Tavistock progresses will determine how good he is, but doesn't change the opinion of most that he was a Lotto Stallion to begin with. Even Canelo who is singing his praises now, thought he was going to be Average.
  2. LOL you're quite entertaining and seem to comment A LOT about KFE from her dress styles to her age etc... do you have a problem with successful women because you're a self confessed budget breeder? Social climber? Born at the top so not much to climb... and no it wasn't me, I don't spend x amount of $ to supply the product so that NZTR/NZRB can jetset around the world or hire expensive hotel rooms, while owners have to race for pennies in NZ
  3. oh my dear bloke... who cares about being laughed at by the hoi polloi like yourself? You have showed your true colours n other threads having digs at KFE and Te Akau, JAFAS etc - you seem to have a big chip on your shoulder with the "HAVES" of this world. Or do you have a problem with Te Akau and KFE because they jumped into bed with Waikato Stud? Good on you if you sent your low grade mares to a Lotto stallion Tavistock and now have a chance to move up in the world. NZ industry desperately needs a stallion to stand up and be counted - we shall see in the coming years.
  4. LOL if you can't afford it as expected, just say so - calling out my integrity when you have clearly proven you have none in many of your posts is piss weak. I'd luv to have a drink and a chat with ya at Karaka but I won't be around for the Festival Sale
  5. Not dumb at all Canelo. I am happy to be wrong as stated above - it's a silly bloke who lacks any integrity who has stated OPINION as FACT for the past year that continues to think it matters if I am wrong. Breeding is not Lotto. The good breeders try to increase their chances of breeding a good one by breeding pedigree, confirmation, and performance to the like. Tavistock was marketed as a Champion "NZ" Sprinter who couldn't keep up in the Aussie G1 Sprints - Zabeel is making him look quite good. I am quite the CHILL person, and am thoroughly entertained as with many of the who's who of Australasian breeding; with the desperate SPIN that comes out of NZ these days because, as other Premier Sales continue to go from strength to strength, Karaka Premier has trended downwards. To be bitter would be to "miss out" - if I sent one of mine or my family's mares to Tavistock, they would be welcomed with the red carpet. Bloke who was one of the Lotto brigade who claimed Tavistock was the next "BIG THING" and his progeny have supposedly achieved that should BACK up what they say. When Zabeel was the "BIG THING" he was a Top 3 stallion at Karaka
  6. Can you NOT read bloke? I acknowledged above that Tarzino would romp home in the Derby when the fillies who dominated the colts leading up to the Derby were saved for the Oaks! I don't need a way out bloke because every one and sundry worth their pedigree in the breeding world without prejudiuce acknowledges Zarzino and Zabeel. Put your money where your Lotto faith is bloke. According to your "Faith", Tavistock should finish ahead of Savabeel or be a Top 3 stallion at Karaka Premier? Let's have a wager: If Tavistock finishes ahead of Savabeel at Karaka Premier, I'll pay your service fee to Tavistock to one of your mares for the 2016 breeding season. If Tavistock finishes Top 3 at Karaka Premier, I'll give you free lease of your CHOICE to any ONE of my Group mares to go to Tavistock for 2016 +.service fee including mare's airfare from Aussie(if applicable) If Tavistock accomplishes neither, you will donate his service fee or at least $2500(which ever is financially realistic for you) to a charity of my choice. Very generous on my behalf so BRING IT ON!
  7. Sorry Col but I don't need to know for a fact because it's REECE JONES - his reputation is well known and MANY an owner won't put him on! Like I said: Too many NZ jocks just "Turn Up" and the horses make them look good most of the time
  8. Totally agree with you Bimbo about worse rides. But if the proper lead up form/video watching was one, Kawi should NEVER have been ridden up to hold a position inside Farm Boy. These jocks are "supposedly" professional sports persons. If they aren't prepared to do the ground work leading up to races(especially Group races which are meant to be the pinnacle of the sport) they should find another career or stick to the amateur races. JMac or Opie would have won on Kawi because they put in the form work leading up to their rides. Too many NZ jocks just "Turn Up" and take the ride and collect their fee - that's a FACT and the owners pay for all the associated costs leading up to the race.
  9. Kawi was the lay of the day once Reece Jones was confirmed as rider. Having the chance to watch the replay over and over again(not talking through my pocket as I backed Soriano), it was a TERRIBLE ride. Ridden up rounding for home to hold a position inside Farm Boy when it's well known the horse needs clear air to stretch out. The result: being held up most of the straight. If Jones had done his form and watched Kawi's videos as the good jocks do, he would have seen how the horse has previously been snagged back behind horses before being steered into the clear to unleash his finishing burst to win. Should have eased behind Farm Boy then brought outside him for one run as is Kawi's racing pattern. Connections rightfully PISSED off - all the hard work getting the horse to the races to be given a poor ride by a jockey too lazy to do the form or homework leading up to the race.
  10. I am more than happy for you hoi polloi Lotto breeders who grasp at any bit of hope of a "Lotto" bred horse and some success - the battlers need success also y'know? Well pleased for you lot so you can't complain that the "Haves" have the majority of success! What a wonderful mare Zarzino is turning out to be - from a wonderful NZ female family and by the mighty ZABEEL who can make any stallion look good! What a huge LOSS ZABEEL is to the NZ industry! Going by ALL you Lotto faithful, Tavistock should be a Top 5 stallion at Karaka Premier 2016
  11. When the fillies who had dominated the colts leading into the Derby were saved for the Oaks, it was obvious Tarzino would romp home in the Derby - weakest Spring crop of 1600m+ Colts in years. OUCH? LOL! Far from it - well PLEASED with Tarzino's win in the Derby I anchored Tarzino in my quaddie and got 250% share of the $4 million quaddie on SupaTAB which set me up for an A-MAZ-ING 2 weeks of racing and social events in Melbourne.
  12. The only stupidity is a bloke who SPINS opinion as fact when Time Form ratings, Race Results(franking form) are readily available for the intelligent to utilise. If you feel insulted by the fact that Patrick Hogan publicly claimed he had found "The One" in Burgundy, instead of your beloved Tavistock, then you need to take that up with him!
  13. Again: Bitter about MEDICORITY? lol lol lol - your delusions continue to get worst. Clearly you continue to display you can't read: Firstly a post about 2YOS and now you sate the bloody obvious about Patrick sending all of his Zabeel mares to Tavistock after the question was asked: "How many Group mares or mares from quality families outside Cambridge Stud did Tavistock get? Also remember that Patrick Hogan claimed "He had found the one" in Burgundy - NOT Tavistock lol It's ok to dream Bloke and continue the way you do - and I DO hope that you win Lotto and breed a Tavistock that race results, Time Form, people without prejudice: world class trainers, bloodstock agents and breeders rate, because the NZ breeding industry DEFINATELY needs a stallion to step into the shoes of Zabeel after losing it's way for sooooo long!. Let the Sales Results, Race Results and Time Form Ratings do Tavistocks talking - cause your "opinions" are actually making him look like a Lotto Stallion
  14. Oh PAH-LEASE bloke! My POST in it's entirety is about 2YOs and only a "Spinner" would look at it any other way! The fact that you ASSUME I went quiet because of Tavistock's 3YOs winning in the worst crop of 3YOs in 20 years, it is you who are clasping at straws - if I had been in NZ for most of this year, would have followed NZ racing more closely and already previously stated: no point debating the Lotto brigade until Tavistocks stepped out of restricted 3YO age racing and UP against the big boys. Tavistock's book was full shortly after the fee was announced because there is far too many low grade mares in NZ that were sent to him instead of one of the other Lotto stallions standing in NZ! How many Group mares or mares from quality families outside Cambridge Stud did Tavistock get? re TRAZINO, we'll see how the form of a field of 1 win/maidens stack up in the coming weeks! This is a thread about Tavistock, so I will refrain from commenting further about Cambridge Stud or being accused of insulting Patrick Hogan.
  15. Very noice attempt to SPIN what I said Bloke - it is to be expected from the Lotto brigade! I'll post the entirety of my original post, which was back in 2013, after a Tavistock won a $7k 2YO maiden at Otaki. "OH Come on you lot! This was a NZ 2YO race not an Aussie 2YO race! A mid week 2YO like Ockam's Razor(sp?) is good enough to win the Karaka Million while last season's "NZ champion 2YO" is yet to place in 5 runs in Aussie. If the Tavistocks are any good, they will end up winning in Aussie - simples!" The POST was referring to 2YO racing! No Tavistock 2YOs have won in Aussie to date! ps: TRAZINO beat a field of 1 wins/maidens and won't win the VRC Derby!
