hizzy got a reaction from TOM(the other Molloy) in Aiden R
Well said Tom all they do is chop them down. If they are so good why not try themselves. See how they go

Dave McDonald is clear top pick as he can call all three codes and could even call races in the far east , west and north too.

The one aspect I don't understand about coverage particularly on massive days like yesterday at Trentham is why they don't have someone on the day who is an experienced horse person i.e. retired horse trainer or jockey, someone who has been there and done that. The rugby and league shows seem to be able to use these ex players to get a better inside insight into their sports than racing does.
No criticism of the presenters though , they have a very hard job to do, most stuff off the cuff and some times talking to people who don't want to be interviewed and you simply cannot criticise anyone for poor tipping as that isn't an easy gig by any stretch of the imagination especially in NZ.
I admire Rodleys enthusiasm for this great sport,he appears to truly love the game as much as many of us here do.

Give those presenters a break you lot. Jayne Ivil copped a ton of flack here yet is now an star in Victoria and as for critizing their selections well I consider those people to be no more knowledgeable than I am myself so never listen(not hat I claim to be any sort of judge just a mug like everyone else). Dufficy doesn't tip the card every week as far as I know even though he is entertaining. As for the Fahey girl's clothing down south well it looked perfectly acceptable to me. Anyone with wives and daughters who like dress shops would be totally accustomed to that type of gear.
NZ racing has a bloody sight bigger problem than who the Trackside presenters are and what they say. Liz Whelan is a loss however

hizzy reacted to Chris Wood in Commentators - genuinely good blokes
I lost Thomas on Brisbane Cup day at Eagle Farm in 2001, had Kaapstad Way in.
Colleen and I couldnt locate him, but he had made his way up to the commentary box to see Wayne Wilson and spent the day with him.
He was made most welcome, and through those beginnings, he has forged his career.

hizzy reacted to jeepers in Showcasing - interesting
Mine was nominated for the Magic Millions but they said it was too big yet they only inspected it once. She was certainly big and leggy early on but has grown within herself now. It's not hard to tell she's a Showcasing as she looks a dead ringer for her dad, except she has two white socks. I think it depends WHO you are in this game.

Absolutely he should, cocked up big time, paid a heavy price, of course none of us has ever cocked up have we?..........he regrets it and as a great talent in a diminishing pool, pardon the poor bugger on condition he doesn't re-offend........if he does, purgatory!......but for God's sake give him a second chance.

It is pathetic, but remember this is the old Woodville date, which always struggled because of timing, and now Marton has been moved a week early onto this date to accomodate Trentham, who in turn had to move earlier to accomodate Ellerslie.
But don't worry, everything will be ok when eventually most racing is centralised at Ellerslie, except winter racing which will probably centralise at Ruakaka.

We were having some family financial problems so the wife & I discussed how we were going to sort it out.
We decided that we couldn't spend any money on ourselves, only the necessities.
She told me I couldn't by beer anymore...... I reluctantly agreed.
One week past & she had returned home from her grocery shopping trip to Countdown.
Inside one of the 7 large plastic bag was a smaller plastic bag with things like lipstick & eyeliner.
I asked her how it was ok for her to buy those things for herself.
She said that she just wanted to look really nice for me.
I told her that's what the beer was for.

Peters will hold an inquiry into all aspects of racing only to have it hijacked by the same successful studmasters, owners and trainers.
They won't be worried about the jockey who gets a couple of mounts a week
They won't be worried about the small time trainer who gets a few winners every year.
They won't be worried about the stablehand who struggles to make ends meet
They won't be worried about the guy with a 1 mare in his paddock .
They will be trying to protect the position they themselves are in.
As the post in Harry Newshounds article in the NEW YORKER says'''over commercialization''is responsible for a lot of racings woes.
Same old people doing and saying the same old things. Its all about memememe.

About as much chance of that as you or I going in Chevy......

hizzy reacted to rumpole in Thames
Geez I am so sick 2 races today I am so so depressed
NO races at Omakau I have an addiction to races and race meetings
It was bad enough losing race 10 at Ellerslie and all but one at Waikouaiti
Tomorrow there is Omakau again and Otaki..if the heavy rain predicted arrives Otaki will be in danger
AND spare a thought for jockey C W Johnson.. he has never ever ridden at Thames before
he gets there somehow on time he has 2 rides and now he has to somehow find his way to Omakau, then Awapuni, then Greymouth
just as well he wasn't booked for Otaki

All the usual platitudes and "mission statements". The populous is sick and tired of bullshitting bureaucrats and politicians.
Where is Peters? Living the high life no doubt instead of dealing with the serious issues facing racing. I'll cut him some slack if he is in the Waitomo Caves practising for his heroic Pike River re-entry!

They could transfer it to Avondale and put up some tents.

I have heard trainers say in the past that they don't like racing maidens at Thames because the track is usually too hard.

Like any law abiding citizen, whether involved in the greyhound industry or not, I find the allegations against Mr Cole very disappointing and if true put the livelihood of many good, honest, hardworking people in jeopardy. As well we will loose respect for our industry. One has to question his motives and integrity. Surely a simple and honest statement of all the facts from his perspective is all that is needed. Failure to do this is very damaging to us all.

hizzy reacted to aquaman in Dead baiting NSW
Nothing more than a witch hunt here Hedley. Lets look at the evidence thus far. Some blurry poor quality photos of what appears to be B Cole and another person tying something on the end of a line. It could be an untanned skin from a shot or dead rabbit, or for that matter, a road kill. Then again it could be Grannies old fur coat chopped up, it could also be artificial fur, or an old rag. We have two employees giving evidence, one a former worker whom has his voice disguised and face hidden claiming Cole live baited whilst he worked there with chickens on a weekly basis. The other employee defends Cole and says he never ever saw any evidence of this practice, who do you believe.
Now I am not defending Cole for one minute, what I am defending is the facts in this matter, and from what I know of the case, they seem to be few and far between. It appears Cole is guilty of winning to many races, and dominating the CD, and the roots of this investigation is born out of jealousy. It has become a lynch mob mentality. Again I say, regardless whether Cole is guilty or not, this whole fiasco, and the lack of real evidence shows just how dangerous this has become to all and sundry connected to the sport. The NZGRA need to put up, or shut up. They have had months to wind this up, instead they have allowed rumour and lie's to take over.
