  1. I went down for the week and had a great time. The highlight for me was the win by Media Sensation, this was after my biggest bet in a long time on the 3rd horse went astray. The Barnswood team are top people and always have a smile, even on bad days and deserve any luck that comes there way
  2. I was doing the selections at our golf club for the day,we were getting close but not getting a result,so went to place a bet of $200 to win on Sacred Judgement. We had gone to the trouble of banking the money into a TAB account,so we wouldn't miss getting on. When the bet was placed the screen came up blank, so didn't know if the bet was confirmed and told the crowd who were getting updated with bets. They couldn't believe that this could happen and were justified with there outrage, We didn't give up and gor 1.8% of the last Trifecta giving a $8.90 profit per $10 share. The damage had been done and the TAB have lost a of respect and i would like to see John Allen come out and give the reasons why the crash happened and if it was out of the TAB control or was it the TAB ARE INCOMPETENT.
  3. They tell me that the new stabbing area at Headquarters will have new fold away seats for the stable employees. It is a long day for these hard-working employees and will be big improvement, rather than sitting on a bucket, whilst watching their horses. They will be sponsored by Cambridge Stud.
  4. TThis is the first time i have commented on this issue. I had a charge laid against me, which I am sure you most of you know the result. I cannot believe that all the persons being charged, cannot get a wage until the case has been heard, do none of these people have a mortgage, or family to support? Let's have a serious look at the RIU and their employer. We will start with M Goober Did he not work for the MET and was he not in charge of the new stable complex at Addington and a relation of his was appointed to construct the building and midway through the construction they went broke and another constructor was appointed to complete the building. Then he was either replaced or resigned from the MET and gained employment in Australia and was either sacked or resigned and fell into his current role as the head of the RIU? Is this the right person to run this Integrity unity? My experience says NO and i say this with all the contact between the RIU, JCA and my legal team and the CLEAR advise the RIU was given was that there was NEVER a charge to be answered too, but they wanted it to proceed. History says that they were WRONG and my estimate would be that it cost the RIU in excess of 55k.I believe I am correct when i state they do not care about the expenditure as it is completely funded from the Pokies. This is why the RIU send Stewards to the SI and vice versa and when he was questioned about this added cost his explanation was it was good for other Stewards to get experience in other areas,I say rubbish. Do Stewards go to Sydney from Queensland,Queensland to Melbourne etc,the answer is No. So why do we waste money on this rubbish? I will let you decide, but if the money was coming out of his pocket would this wastage be happening? l was going to comment on several other issues, eg a starter dispatching a field with a man in front of the starting gates, he could have received fatal injuries, cones being left on the track and the races commences after an RIU steward had inspected the track, a RIU steward saying the track was safe to race last Saturday at Riccarton when a horse slips and he states in his report it was an isolated slip and lets the meeting proceed and then another horse slips in the next race and the meeting is called off. I give up on the incompetence of the RIU Organisation and more importantly, it's head.
  5. Zip.Guy is a top person who does an excellent job selecting horses for clients. His record would be up with the best, his stand out selection would be Winx, but he has a record any bloodstock agent would want on their CV. I know the amount of time they put in researching pedigrees and watching videos of trials and races. The owners/Trainers of Patrick Erin were concerned about the weight/ratings he was getting in NZ and stated this in the media. So if he was smart enough to know this and select this horse for the white-hot competition of Sydney and to win a G1 from racing in the SI,then i believe he is more than entitled to wank on as you suggested, as promotion is a huge part of any business.
  6. Agree 100%,Sheldon is a wasted talent and would lap most presenters, I am like you and trust they utilize his skill set.

Agree with the positive comments. Mark is a complete professional and has a great work ethic. These are a couple of the reasons Royce Dowling supported Mark when he originally came out here. He will be missed in NZ, but completely understand if he decides to stay in Queensland. I will miss the money he donates to me at golf, but it is what it is.
  8. Exactly, so why have a Turbo Quaddie?
  9. I was invited to a fundraising event at Alexandra Park last Friday night. It was for a charity named Fish n Wish, I think that what it was called. The charity was started by a person named Bryce Dinnen, who was paralyzed from the neck down after a diving mishap. Bryce had worked for me in Christchurch and it was an excellent opportunity to support his trust. I brought a trailer for 2k, a wax, and manicure for $300 for the Duchess which i may add help break a long drought and went into a partnership for 8 people to go fishing at Great Barrier. The 2 downsides were,1/i was disappointed not see the fields for Addington in the race night book, as i thought there was 4 race turbo between the 2 clubs,as there were no fields,I didn't worry about it. Do these clubs not support each other, or what would the reason be for this happening? The 2nd downside was the pathetic effort from the punters club selectors, return =ZERO. No just kidding. Our group will be back next year as Bryce is a top bloke who prior to the accident was a top-class rugby and cricket player and he gave an emotional speech on his life after the accident and then a young fellow who was born with CP and his parents were told told that he would never walk or talk proved the experts wrong when he did walk and talk and went on to University and got a degree in Business Studies,It was very inspiring stuff
  10. I do not know what all the fuss is about. Have you never abused anyone when driving a car when they cut in front of you on the road? Of course you have and when you are in a competitive race of any kind, your emotions are hard to control. Look at car racing, motorbike racing and I even seen an assault in the bike race the other day. He is entitled to his opinion, but make it a balanced opinion and when you do make an opinion make it on a worthwhile subject.
  11. Agree, and Miss Pickles should utilize his services on a more regular basis
  12. I wonder if Silver Fern Meat will go the same way,the Crafar farms should have been given to Maori and young NZ farmers. The farming show reported the Beingmate deal to be losing over 558 million I thought.
  13. Don't remember the Reefton race but for reasons that should be obvious, i remember the Kumara race. Your uncle was a hard bastard and he asked me to ge a good apprentice for an apprentice race, so i got him G N Davison who was in my view a top rider in the making,he gave it every show and ran in the placings . Kevin Dolan told me that Grant would never make it as a rider, I was talking to Kevin many years later and told him that Grant did make it and had just ridden his 1000th winner, the gruff reply was he must have improved Another good story and i believe it is true was that Kevin had brought a horse at the sales and.it was hard to break in and would continually buck, this was ok as Kevin's son would ride him, but one day he had to go on a rugby trip, so Kevin decided to ride the horse himself, he would have been around 65 years old then, well he got dropped when the horse starting bucking, .. I cannot say what happened to the horse but Kevin did win the battle, You didn't get a second chance with Kevin, one hard bastard.
  14. The day when my heart was broken and my life torn apart, Ross lived in Russley Rd and you are correct he moved out to a stud farm in Amberley Ross's father was Noel Simpson, he was very successful in the Harness code.
  15. The same happens with the RIU.They send Stewards to different areas to work,eg Oathan to Timura, Davidson to Pukekohe etc etc. When the inspired leader M Godber was questioned on this waste, his lame justification was that he would like the stewards to be familiar with other areas. Well my reply to that would be , Would you see Victorian Stewards going to Sydney, Queensland Stewards to Perth etc etc, no you don,t not even days like the Melbourne Cup If they had to pay for their own travel, like Jason Teaz has to, then i believe you would see this wastage cease and rightfully so.
  16. Brillant bit of humor, but i mean,it has taken me 25 minutes to get Karen{my wife] off the floor suffering from a laughing spasm and have just done that and she has been in the toilet for another 10 minutes, presumably changing her pants. I will get my own box for the day and as always happens i will end up with the 7 girls from your box,as they will be a bored and depressed as any person that has to suffer your hospitality and tips from your good self, you can keep the other 3 for reasons for reasons that will be clear to Cafers
  17. If i make the cut for your March Box at Ellerslie, i will concede your where no 1in the SI, otherwise if I miss the cut i will say you wouldn,t rate in the top 20,in fact i would put the late Ray Hewinson and Bill Berry ahead of you, Your choice, but if i do make the cut and those attractive ladies are not present, then you are a fair dinkum tosser
  18. Went there 2 years ago and they offered the best deal ever offered, from memory it was $200 per starter,3 days accommodation at a nice motel and there was something else but Alzheimer's is a buggar. The club also had a 10k Trainers prize and unbelievably Kevin Myers had 4plus winners and ran 2nd as each starter earned points and Rogie had float loads of starters
  19. Just been reported the NZ First is now below the 5% threshold. Is this because of failed promises or other issues?
  20. You are wrong again as to where he was born, what size he is and how good a punter he is, but don't let facts get in your way of your story.
  21. In my opinion, the 2 most underrated are Bruce Sherwin and Jason Teaz. They are very accurate and when you are listening on the radio, they tell you where your horse/s are positioned in a race which you can then visualize in your head.
  22. Von,I am struggling to believe this is Leo also. I am thinking that he may have taken off overseas with that glamour that he was seen with at the tennis, mind you i can see why he may have done so and a complete change of personality has occurred because of this rendezvous.
  23. Correct Little Man,it was Owen Anning and the other passenger was Wattie Latimer,he owned Wattalan,NZ Cup and Watelse Unlucky In Love etc
  24. Come on Baz, every rider now has to weigh in,even if you run last I would be more interested to see if she was drug tested before the races and if not why not... The owners will lose any stake money they won because of this stupidity and that is what it is stupidity.
  25. He has been here for 6 months and yet the only thing I have heard or seen of him,is to ask the RIU to investigate how the sprinklers were left at Omakau,FFS. Bernie come out with something as to why we have had 7 abandoned meetings over the last 9 days in the lucrative period of holiday racing and how you have plans to remedy this going forward, as at the moment you are a cardboard cutout of a CEO of NZ Racing. Thanks in advance.
