    Smolda

This Chariots is starting to look like a very good 10-horse field Christen Me, Jason Rulz, Restrepo and Im Victorious all qualified Smolda a shots eye, as will be Exciteusinthecity the way he made ground from the back in a 55.2 half last night. Emperor Montana getting injured was a let down, as is Chancellor Cullen and Ideal Scott not going. Hopefully KIwi Ideal and Scandalman can find form in the Paleface Adios next week to make it 8 live chances in the final.

Stirling Point and Pure Power are New Zealand-owned but rightfully sent to Sydney to race for A$24,000 every week. In Pure Power's case, he is trained by a kiwi too.. just a recent expat.
  5. Don't really agree with this. Menangle race the mile or 2300 and most Saturday night races are run sub 1.55. The races are entertaining and even. It helps having a $200 million fund to attract the best horses I suppose. But good racing stimulates turnover and it's the perfect circle. The problem with our racing in New Zealand is the drivers. They are weak and lack agression. I can't watch New Zealand racing anymore. Favourite/Dexter/Mangos just roll to the front, walk a half in five and sprint home in 57/58 and win. So boring and predicatable. Now Aussie is flourishing, they are buying our horses, we are breeding less and sending our best ones to Melbourne or Sydney on deals. Our fields are dropping, turnover is plummeting and racing pool dimishing. Talk about the opposite... a vicious circle.
  6. I think this is an especially weak 3yo colts and geldings crop and I have no doubt she could win the Derbys if she lined up. She looks far and away the best filly I have ever seen at this age. Better than Elect To Live, Iman, De Lovely etc

Not true. Perth heat - first 2 (I'm Themightyquinn, Dasher VC) Auckland heat - first 2 (Terror To Love, Sir LIncoln/Gold Ace) Melbourne heat - first 3 (Smoken Up, Bitobliss, Carribean Blaster) Sydney heat - first 4 (rort) (Excel Stride, Pub Blitz, Washakie, ... ) Sydney supplementary heat - first 2 (Mah Sish, Four Starzz Flash) Wildcard - 1 (which will be the best credentialled horse that didn't qualify) Only slight spanner is that Karloo Mick, in the Sydney heat, had has trainer disqualified effective immediately yesterday for 12 months. They meet this morning to decide if Karloo Mik gets pulled and whether that heat drops from 4 to 3. I do agree the whole thing is a bit of a circus
  8. You'd think Roxburgh is hand-timed. Lets not forget the cock-up in Central Otago a few seasons ago... it's highly likely..
  9. I recall The Tough Nut did it in 1999
  10. In Ants' favour is Raoul Neave is the presiding judge. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=10831274
  11. I wouldn't go so far as to call the previous website fine. It lacked functionality.
  12. You hear many different parts of the story... alas they can't be mentioned hear due to them falling under innuendo. If I was to speculate I might get it in-my-endo. What I will say is that this is more than likely bigger than Nicky, regardless of whether she is innocent or not.
  13. Bar is walking pretty lean these days!
  14. I'd help you Llloyd, but cricket starts out south at 12.30.
