Still my favourite horse of all time. The crowd used to cheer him as he went past the stands in his preliminary, and he would nod his head up and down as if acknowledging the applause. A household name during his racing time.

But you have to agree something better than nothing - which is what we have had to put up with up to now.

I was there that day and watched the race from the inside of the track and liked Smokeaway which was paying 3pound odd for a place. Once the fire got going it became the omen bet and came down to 1pound 10 shillings for a place and ran third. A collect but not what I was expecting.

If that happened today, the stipes would have blown the hooter and called the race off.    OSH and all that

Farrrrqq me, has John Allen returned.
That has him written all over it.
Farq , we know what is wrong with the Great game and this diatribe is a great example of it.
Bullet points with a brief synopsis which doesn't actually do or say anything.
We read this shit every year and that is all that happens.
Good luck for the short term future......

I used to go out on the town some Friday night's, and go play a blinder generally the next arvo (football).Usually only get home around 4am.
How's that for form on the juice  ?
Also remember playing in the snow, having great fun , but was very disappointed as others were complaining it was freezing and the game was eventually called off.
    Harden Up !

Teenager who died in Papamoa Beach crash named
19:42, Jan 20 2021 SUPPLIED The scene of a truck-versus-cycle accident in Papamoa that left 14-year-old Hugo Shaw dead. Police have released the name of the teenager who died after a crash between a cyclist and a rubbish truck in Papamoa Beach, Tauranga.
He was 14-year-old Hugo Shaw, from Cambridge.
The crash happened at 2.50 pm on Tuesday, at the intersection of Sandhurst Dr and Papamoa Beach Rd.
On Wednesday, floral tributes had been left at the curbside where the teenager was killed.
Residents in the Tauranga suburb said they were left shocked at the sound of the crash.
Bay of Plenty roading police manager Inspector Brent Crowe said investigations into the accident were continuing and police were asking witnesses to come forward.

So sad to report this teenager was the eldest son of former harness trainer and prominent driver, Tony Shaw,  who himself had a near fatal accident on the track.     Tony is held in high esteem by all who know him and to suffer such a tragedy hits us all hard.      Tony, all in the harness community send their heartfelt condolences in these tragic circumstances.
    RIP Hugo

Starts yesterday were good for both stands and mobiles and a huge improvement on Lamb's tactics, so yes I would say you could bet with confidence tomorrow.

Really...people bagging them...the industry will be much the poorer without them...just my humble opinion...anyone who bags them or slags them off is just sour grapes...MP is the consummate professional....and a bloody good judge of horseflesh from what I have been told.

The great team went out with a bang last night and once again got the spoils in the Cup. Read elsewhere that many will not be sad that they are leaving as the big spoils can be shared around more now. What a load of crap,  dumbing down the game is a recipe for declining standards overall IMHO
Farewell to 2 great professionals and may you one day return to do it all again

Spot on... stipes have always had a bug about Ian Cameron... He's bullied while the useless incompetent Lamb continues blunder after blunder with zero accountability and little punishment, yes he's lost Addington but still got the rest of Canterbury and beyond so he has not lot much really. Lamb is useless and must be replaced. I think if he has any creditability, I doubt he has any?, he should resign. Do the right thing Lamb, do the right thing for harness racing. Every start you f...up is another death stab for harness racing.

Iraklis, I didn't say he was right, in fact the opposite. What I was saying was that if he wasn't a stipe then the other stipes would have done something about it. It is obvious he made a hash of the start---again.

Yes agree, I just looked Navitas, it has had a portion edited out shame on you HRNZ for allowing this in an effort to make it look better than it was 😡 if the start wasn't as bad as everyone has seen why edit your own Stipes video of the start, enough people have seen it already anyway and makes HRNZ look guilty as......
Overcheck what I said was a comment 'it don't make him right just cos he's a stipe' not you said he was right.....

Not so Everton. Horses trained to "right" usually leave the mark. Happy Lamb confuses them by yelling "happy" then "right". Absolutely no need to bellow "happy". Confuses horses and drivers as they are not sure if hes releasing on the happy or right. Watched him the other day and he appeared to release on happy some races  then other races on right!

Ron Carter must be wondering what planet Lamb is on!
