  1. The add placed by a third party, and gives a phone number for further details. Why do you not do the damn obvious and ring it if you are interested!!!
  2. Ever since I can remember..Rival Codes have paid 4th prizemoney..and never once have i seen that referred to as encouraging losers. Cheers Pilli.
  3. ..that I would have favoured from the outset. Pay Prize Money $100 4th placegetter. No Petrol Vouchers.
  4. What was previously looking like a tightly contested battle between the two top kennels,is looking more and more like a winning lead is being established, that will be very difficult to reel in. Brendon Cole began the year ahead 196-188,and his lead has widened to 273-247 as of tonight. Team McInerney showed they will not relinquish their long held title easily, with 16 winners last week (Cole 9),including a season's best 8 at Southland...which narrowed their deficit to 18wins. However, the next two racedays saw Cole notch up 5-2/5-0 wins to stretch his leading margin back out to 26 wins. As both Nahla and Wideboy have mentioned,a TAB Book on the outcome would hold a degree of wagering interest. *Think Wideboy would be inundated with punters clammering to get on Cole at $1.60.
  5. Ole Trev gets tongue tied at the best of times.. Imagine Boo Hoo Blair and Moaning Moany in the same race!!! Pilli.
  6. Thanks Hunterville for your link to the above footage,a great trip down memory lane. The Poster 'Klinger' also has a fascinating ten minute video clip on Dargaville, which illustrates the buildup to their Big Race Day,looks like 1980's. (a youthful Reece Jones winning The Cup) Cheers,Pilli. :cocktail:

    great white

I happened to be visiting the day this litter was born, and held Great White. The one and only time I have seen Pups less than 24 hours old. Yes,Great White has enjoyed his Life Of Retirement with Graeme 'Mac' McCormick in North Canterbury. Cheers,Pilli.
  8. A battle royale is being played out at the head of The Trainers Premiership. The lead has been see-sawing weekly, and at end of 2009,standings are: Brendon Cole 196 v John McInerney 188. Not since the days early this decade when Craig Roberts had a large team and travelled widely, has Team McInerney faced any challenge to their reign topping this premiership. The most recent 4 meetings with Cole Runners have resulted thus: 23/12 Wanganui 5 wins 24/12 Cambridge 6 wins 28/12 Manawatu 5 wins 30/12 Wanganui 5 wins Not to be outdone,McInerney ended the year with 4 wins at Addington last night. Rival Codes have seen premiership battles, and quests for records, generate much extra publicity...eg Lisa Cropp/Dexter Dunn. Im hoping as long as this remains a 'two horse race'..then greyhounds gain some media spotlight/attention. With Race Teams in Each Island enabling McInerneys to compete at most meetings Nationwide, they deserve favouritism to retain their Crown, but I look foward to following with interest how this battle unfolds during the next few months. Cheers,Pilli. :cocktail:
  9. Admired this guy in '70s..very very speedy, front running type.
  10. Was it today - or next few days -when Solway Running Rail demolished for scrap!!! Yes,Solway has held its last tote race meeting....so no doubt Peter was CORRECT.
  11. The curtain has come down on the Racing Career of grand performer BLACK TIE. Whilst he was unable to bow out in the style of Magic Spike on a winning note,he will enjoy a well earned retirement with his Trainers Lisa Ahern/Brendon Cole. He was sourced by Brendon, and raced by the aptly named Winners R Grinners Syndicate,a group of keen northern enthusiasts. Black Tie arrived on NZ Shores Feb 08,and a week later debuted at Manukau in a Heat of The Railway. From his favoured inside draw,he bolted in by 3.5L over Big Pa,however box 6 in Final proved to be his nemises. His racing style was always to crash towards the rail early, and many a time a wide box draw proved his undoing. Also,Black Tie won first up at Wanganui and Addington Tracks. His best paydays came at Addington late 2008. Platinum Paws Night, victory over reigning greyhound of the year Pizza Girl 3.5L in best time of night...then Group Two Victory in NZ's Top Ranked Sprint "The Galaxy" coming from last early leaving quality performers Grant A Fortune,In Command,Watch The Jet,Pizza Girl in his wake. However,it was at Manawatu Track where he really made his mark as a 'Monday Cash Cow'..racing there 54 times, and returning atop the dias on 25 occasions. I recall Denis Schofield, when word of his imminent NZ arrival was out, telling me that he himself had been keen on acquiring this dog for months, and that he would be the best Aussie Sprint Import to arrive here. Well,he wasn't far wrong...and must have lamented each time his charges Gringo,Leerize,Austin,Cawbourne Ray,Winsome Light etc played Second Fiddle to Blackie. Whilst Black Tie had won over 525m at The Meadows, only once did he attempt such a distance here, when leading and rundown by Marty Hall at Wanganui. His 71 NZ Starts..all in Class 5..resulted in 31 wins..8 seconds/10 thirds $69,191. NZ/Aust Career Record 108 Starts..47 wins..14 seconds/15 thirds $92,376. Many thanks Brendon/Lisa for managing his career so well, and glad he gets to live out his days in familiar surroundings where he will be spoilt. And thanks Blackie for bringing so much pleasure to many with your great will to win. Cheers,Pilli. :cocktail:
