This is a family full of speed; with the second dam being placed as a 2YO IN SAJC WALTER BROWN S.H. (LISTED RACE) With the average Yearling price based on the cross of Mr Prospector & his sons & grandsons/Giant’s Causeway being $39,500 for 2012 we offer great value for this colt. (Coolmore Australia Update) Group One Second for Haradasun (9th June 2012) The Gai Waterhouse trained Kabayan (2g Haradasun x Tarlaquena, by Don Eduardo) failed by a short head to give his sire Haradasun his first Group I winner when finishing a desperately close second to Sizzling in the Group I BRC TJ Smith Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday. Having just his third race start following on from a debut win at Wyong and then a gallant second to highly rated Fastnet Rock colt Destruction, Kabayan ran the race of his life in the 1600 metre feature. Superbly ridden by Nash Rawiller, he was up running second throughout behind tearaway leader Boban and had the race won everywhere bar the post with red hot favourite Sizzling claiming him in the last strides of the race. “It’s great to see a local horse like Sizzling win,” Gai Waterhouse said in her post race remarks. “But you’ve just seen a great horse in the making from Kabayan. I thought 200 metres out he was going to win until I saw that blasted Chris Munce (on Sizzling) coming. “Kabayan is a really top horse and I’ll set him for the Caulfield Guineas.” The first foal of Don Eduardo mare Tarlaquena (NZ), Kabayan is closely related to smart performers Matras, Zutara and Ashikaga. Kabayan is one of five winners from the first crop of Haradsun, who stands this season at a fee of $16,500. A well-grown, powerful colt now having his first racing preparation. 3. Thanks so much for your help I will contact him!!
  4. Australian style farriery is different, tend to chop off the toe quite drastically and leave sides long. Different styles from country to country I found, like in Japan they tend to cut the inside of the horses hoof shorter than the outside too. Just want a normal balanced foot. Email address is colomina@bigpond.com Thanks...
  5. Just wondering if anyone knows of any Kiwi farriers in South East Queensland area. Thanks
  6. Beaudesert is 'Thoroughbred Country' in Queensland, only and hour from Gold Coast and 50 Mins from Brisbane. We require 10 or more racehorses and young horses to be kept shoed 6 weekly plus there is endless work in the area for a capable farrier. All enquiries to: colomina@bigpond.com Ph: 0428 955 256
  7. Our New Caledonian Stables require a jockey. Please contact colomina@bigpond.com Full-time, live in position, great people who will really look after you, not necessary to speak French.
  8. I seem to remember you attacking me when I posted an ad for a jockey too, as if it was there for your discussion!, seems you may have a chip on your shoulder and a bit too much time on your hands!!!! I think the comments of John Wheeler and Brett Scott on Racing TV over here were on the mark, NZ riders just seem to have more horse sense accross the board. There are definate tendancies from country to country. I rode in Japan for 8 months, the Japanese openly told me repetitively the Japanese riders are no good, it's not something they naturally excel at, that's why they imported riders from overseas. They have strengths in other areas, that's not to say some Japanese riders can't excel, I just think the cultures of certain countries support different strengths and weaknesses. But that's just my experience, I think the apprentice should take a chill pill and realize people are entitled to an opinion from their own experiences. If you disagree that's no problem but to go and outright attack someone like a child... someone is a few kicks up the rear end short of a stable balanced outlook on life don't you agree??
  9. I've ridden trackwork all my life, a Kiwi in Oz now, training and riding track here. The riders, even Group 1 Jockeys here seem to be very backward in basic horse sense and skill. Accross the board. I rode trackwork for Bart Cummings, Paul Perry, Max and Chris Lees etc... and I was stumped at the lack of skill their riders and handlers had. I think if NZr's stepped over here to Oz they would be able to dominate easily. However the riders here are calice, cold hearted, will run you and your horse through the rail without batting an eyelid so I think Kiwi riders would have to be more brutal and defensive outside of NZ. I still want a Kiwi Jockey over here if any are keen... Need one for New Caledonia stable and also another one for here, in Queensland, don't want Oz Jockeys on my good horses! Email colomina@bigpond.com
  10. I have a magnificent Danehill Dancer Broodmare. Put her to our Stallion Investors Dream last season, very much looking forward to her foal. Her mum is also by Sir Tristram, she is amazing, of all the horses we have ever had, not one has ever dominated her. She also takes all the foals off the mums and takes them away for walks and educates them in manners, takes them all to the trough for a drink, such an intelligent mare. I think Danehill Dancers are magnificent.
  11. My husband & I are based in QLD, (I'm a Kiwi, he's French), since we've been here we have been stunned at the opportunities that are here to obtain amazing horses at impossibly low prices, (outside of the regular sales and bloodstock sites where prices remain high). We have obtained Jet Spurs, Danzero's, Statue of Liberty's. Encosta De Lago's, Sharmadal's, Reset's, for next to nothing just to name a few, just through some outside contacts in the industry whom we have come to know. I must say, the quality of the horses over here is just stunning, big broad solid, beautiful horses much like the American horses. We have a Stud and Racing Stable here and plenty of paddocks, stables grass and room if people want us to find horses for them here and organise their export to NZ, we have exported many already to New Caledonia and have a good relationship with the Quarantine officials here and can run pre-export quarantines for them etc with the vets just at the back of our property. We also work with IRT for transport and Insurance. Even with the exchange rate and the cost of transport etc... it still works out cheap when you can obtain such good horses for low prices. We can have xrays, scopes and vet checks done here too. Just a thought...
  12. I'm in Queensland, 50m to Brisbane, 1hr to Gold Coast, any ideas? For the moment I ask the best farrier I could find to travel about 2 hours to come and do our horses but it's a bugger when one loses a shoe!! Considering glueing the nails in place after the farrier does them!!!!!
  13. where do I start, got suspended for tripping my horse up on purpose in a race in NZ which I had lined up for the Wellington Cup, my horse was so badly injured never raced again... The problem accross the board with Jockeys is they just can't ride. Dunno how to balance horses properly for maximum speed or to work in timing with the horses to know when to ask for that little bit more etc... they work against the horses, and fall off if a horse bucks or plays up because their knees are up round their ears, I am located close to Eagle Farm, Doomben, Gold Coast etc... We ahve some really good horses almost ready to debut, just need a jockey who can ride.
