Gruff reacted to Cluny in Go and Strike the Oil
I'm glad you seen the funny side! We missed the bus but need to catch the next one and get back to exploration! However, we need to tell these two chaps to pull back on the first class travel and round the block limos. We need the cash for prospecting here!

Yes it's easier and more profitable to keep an existing customer than to find a new one! From experience!

Any more and you are out...understood you really are not a nice person.

I'm not going to trash Guy as he is still on a steep earning curve and it shows.
As someone who has been around the game since childhood in one way or another, I must say that I prefer TB racing presenters to begin their time on-screen with a good grasp of the basics of our game as a minimum. Learning and improving with experience in the chair is fine by me once you've got those basics.
I'm an oldie & that opinion may well be reflected in my views about Guy.
To me, he was thrust into the limelight because he had sporting knowledge (ex TVNZ sports reporter), screen experience, and he may well be someone who they believed might gel better with a younger crowd.
Perhaps his transition into the racing side of being a Trackside presenter might have benefitted from a little more education and time rather than being tossed in at the deep end?
IMO, he's not the worst on the Trackside channel.
I wish him well.

Think "battered wife's syndrome".
I'm pretty immune to to getting upset by the lack of respect they show owners.
They will just say I'm a disgruntled whinger, without ever being introspective and asking if what I have queried has any genuine basis.
As a certain monkey asked, "how many G1s have I trained ?".
As if that has any relevance to my level of knowledge regarding horses and racing.

No surprise, can you blame them? Problem is their customers may decide f#$k them That creates a problem for our Racing industry which entain cares little.

Would be sad to see same thing happening here in NZ. Although, did the NZ TAB take out pods from outlets not turning over a certain amount. Had some great times in Pub TABs in Christchurch.

Cut 120 positions; save $60,000,000 per year.
Hey!!! That is $500,000 per person per year. I had no idea that wagering administration paid so well!

Gruff, thank you for bringing that to our attention. Ryan Fox was paying $150 last Thursday. He must have thought he was paying $15. No news media people have brought up that 150/1 odds. Incredible.

Give the Guy a break, he looks a bit like Justin Thomas and has a good personality. His knowledge is on par with Sweens and he made a career out of it😎

Had to laugh at Mike McNabs decision to lock up Sweet but Rails while the leader ambled around setting up a pedestrian 2.14 2100 on a day they ran a sub 1.22 1400.... if they ran a 'race' like this in Oz heads would roll

Think hes got a big future but daresay his ride in R2 wasnt much better. Having two speed duels in a seven horse 2100m rarely works out well... confirmed with those horses being the last 3 home.

Well, there you go Gruff. They couldn't get him. In hindsight it does look like the TAB initially reacted to some early local support in halving his opening and eased a bit on the day. In contrast they came out of the woodwork to be on the the one we liked. Just a pass mark.
