  2. Thanks Westy. I was just enquiring what was involved on the night. JL put up a post which did not goive much information so am glad that someone, YOU, were able to clarify what was involvd in the night and what the "new" owners experiencd for the night. It was not a negative post just wanted posters to know what was available on the night. Sounds like a good night and a lot of fun. Hopefully it will be promoted when its Addingtons turn and people will know well before the races so that they can plan on going and to try and experience the thrill of ownership. Happy it all went well and you got some new owners as probably did other syndicates.
  3. Do you know how many took up this offer and what "privileges" did they get. Invited to the owners room/lounge, birdcage access, a share of the stage if it won? Surely the ATC carnt just give any horse to a group of owners for the race, there must be some discussion with the real owners, and I would think a lot of "real" owners would not want their horse jinxed by such happenning. Was the public informed on and off course that this was happenning and if it was a large group and they as "owners" invested on the tote as you suggested this would create a false price for the horse. I think it is a good idea to try and get new people interested in ownership however would be interested in your comments re my queries.
  4. Hes won the last two NZ Cups over 2 miles by huge margins including the NZ record, Austalasian harness horse of the year, nearly 3 mil in stakes, won 35 out of 45 starts, never further back than 3rd, won Interdominion Final, goes to USA and wins first up against horses that have won 3 mill running 1.48 and people still want to call him average and unexciting. WHAT THE ?? You can never please everybody and that will always be the case with Laz no matter what he does or how he wins. Because hes not an inconsistent Lord Module winning brilliantly from last or a bully like Gammalite, and just goes out and gets the job done often in record times some people always find a reason to be negative. Wether its jealousy, anti All Stars brigade or they are just negative people it doesnt matter as WE all know he is a champion and WE love watching him race.
  5. YES YES YESSSSSS. You little beauty. Showed gatespeed, led and won like the champion we all know he is. Did KIWIS proud and will make US harness start noticing NZ horses again. Big Congratulations to all especially LAZ
  6. Well he aint going to win races 6,7,9 so 3 chances in race 8 to break a big fat ZERO for the day
  7. Sixteen starters in four eligble races for 0 winners. Very unWaller like. Could he go a whole Sydney day without awinner!
  8. Winter cup: No 8. Elfee Missile Stakes:No 2 Kementari Thanks all
  9. Similar in Victoria Racing with Emma Stewart dominence Dont hear any winging over there. They just get on with trying to beat her. Renown Silverware State Trainers Premiership Name Races 1sts 2nds 3rds 4ths Stakes Emma Stewart 625 243 129 64 41 $2,627,570 Andy Gath 437 95 71 57 36 $865,395 Brent Lilley 446 76 71 60 44 $802,390 Kerryn Manning 222 72 39 31 19 $729,920 Anton Golino 325 69 47 40 32 $776,785 Glenn Douglas 627 68 84 89 86 $539,955 David Aiken 298 57 60 36 34 $841,965 Margaret Lee 182 56 31 27 25 $487,230 Laura Crossland 155 50 17 13 13 $337,585 Matthew Craven 301 43 45 36 43 $346,920
  10. Thanks Iraklis. Thats very interesting. Im not big into pedigrees so is it normal or unusual that two sires, Speedy Crown and Superbowl are represented prominently on both sides of the family more than once.
  11. I would hardly say it was a SHOCKER. She perhaps took the wrong option in hindsight at the 600 in ducking to follow Wots Up instead of staying out in the three wide line where she would have had to come widest down the outside. The way she finnished if she had done that probably would have won or been very close. BUT many drivers in races take the softer option for their horses and the heavens open and they zoom home to win. The drive is then called brilliant and praise given for taking the correct option. Drivers carnt always be right and on this occasion she probably took the wrong option, play the race again and take the same path and she may well have won. There will be many many "worse" drives at Ashburton today than this one.
  12. Will turn out to be a wise decision I suspect in the years to come. Horse welfare paramount for the All Stars.

    Maori Time

The English speaking commentator I was referring to knew Bold Eagle, one of the favs which broke in Maori Times heat, like his son. He said he had seen it run every start and could not beleive it had broke. He would have been in the area for many years and was not A Manton
  15. Well said Andrew and keep up the good work finding those winners and longshots.

    Maori Time

Thanks Eljay. I think that is the final Won by RingoStar Treb. If you let the link run the next race that comes up is the heat with Maori Time who galloped after the 3rd attempt from false starts with an Engl;ish comemtator. . Listen to the commenator he says he has never seen such a race even before in his life. And repeats this at least a dozen times. We have nothing to complain about on this side of the world with our comentators listening to that. Interesting to note that there is no use of the whip in the races even thou they all seem to carry one. Poor Maori Time along way to go to break.Lets hope he gets another go somewhere to see how he competes.
  17. I have to disagree strongly with your comments here rangi. A Fitzgerald picks four selections per race which is what most selectors do including the whale Today he picked 2 first pick winners, 2 second pick winners and 3 4th pick winners making 7 winners out of 9 races excluding the amaters (who no one in their right mind would try and pick). if you had backed his first four sclections $1 win cost $36 Return $39.20 Now tell me that the whale and MG can do better than this on their patch. If you followed Andrews selections for the past months you would see that he picks numerous double divy winners especially around Canterbury and further south. Unfortunately I cannot say I have made money out of them as its always the next day when I check. However I regard him as a very astute and fine selector. Andrew has been involved in harness since a very early age and is a form analysis. Going and driving at the races and trials gives him a distinct advantage over the whale and MG, Just keep any eye on all their slections over the next month and prove me wrong. I doubt you will.
  18. There will be a vacant spot on the rails in future Auckland Trots. No seriously one of my fav trainers and drivers. Always looked after his horses and they were always in a race to preform to their best without being thrashed. If not this week always the next. Hence the longevity of his horses especially his trotters. Loved backing them. Can vividly remember Bonnies Chance in the cup. Probably my biggest bet at the time. And was there for No Responses incredible win, Unbeleivible and untouched. still gives me goosebumps. Hope Mr Brosnan continues to dabble in his trotters and enjoys his retirement.
  19. Yes occasionally you see one that makes an impression, even though they may not produce regularly, you see that ability now and again and know they can be special on their day. Last night when I saw Billy at Salsa win the first trot I thought that. The way he strode past them in the last 100 was very impressive. Interested to hear you comments if you were there in person for the first, which Im sure you would have been.
  20. Randwick had ONE race yesterday for $4 mill. Hardly think that 1.2. mill spread over 10 races is massive. Some of the stake will be made up of turnover the rest maybe some sponsorship and then then rest out of reserves. You need premium days in all sports and you will find MOST will not make money or even break even on the day or event eg. Olympics/Commonwealth Games, Rugby Test matches, Cricket Tests etc. These days are needed for the average athlete/horse to have a goal to aim for. The best will get to their goal. Thats the way it is and should be. Unless you want every horse running around for the same money every time Brodie there will always be premium days that have to be subsidized. I personally think that $1.2 mill is way too little for what is promoted as one of the elite days of the year where the best of young and rising stars are on show.
  21. Big priced purchase K OF swing wins WA derby $200K stake and justifies big price tag. Probably pays for the buy so the rest is a bonus. Great for aussie harness and WA BUT another potential topliner left NZ http://media.harness.org.au/wa/GPM06041867.mp4
