I know he has horses at the yearling sales (not sure if they are his or is preparing them for others). In the end I gather he has served his sentence and gets a second chance, whether we individually agree or not agree with his sentence on his previous bad action.

After watching the Racing in Southland over the past Month. One thing is obvious! Southland drivers need to grow some balls and stop letting Dexter dictate. Its obvious that he loves driving in this area because he gets away with waiting for the draws to come out, then picking a front line draw, sprinting to the lead then running sectionals that makes it impossible for him to get beat. Come on Guys lets put some interest in Racing down there. Make him work for his pay!!

With Thames on Saturday will be interesting how the grass fields stack up, January racings dates are rediculous with Cambridge and the grass almost always back to back, with both tracks  attracting the same type of horses

So I have inferred there is a possible link between the cobalt positives and the reason for some of the heart trouble of a trainer whose horses have returned positives to cobalt. ..  Read the studies, and there is heap of them on the internet, and you will see they all link cobalt use with heart and kidney trouble.    You are so over the top it is ridiculous.  You say i  put the boot into its best trainers.    Do you want me to give him a pat on the back instead?   This is Dalgetys responsibility ,not mine. People like you don't do dalgety any favours.                                         You have made no reference to the galloper Sound Propositions heart trouble, Do you defy science and  reject the possibility his heart trouble was caused by its documented cobalt use.    There surely has  to be a reason why you are so over the top,  your responses just dig yourself a bigger hole in my opinion.                           While I am at it. The point of this original posting back in march was to point out the failure of the riu to properly investigate the  strange performance of a dalgety runner. just as with the horse Kompressor who dropped dead in a trial back in October.a proper investigation by the riu may have cleared any suggestion of any wrong doing by dalgety.  We will never know because the riu did nothing that we are aware of to investigate why.   I'm sure none of us believe dalgety would intentionally do anything to hurt his horses health, but he does operate in an environment where many trainers are under intense pressure to perform to the level of some rival trainers.

    Well, go away then.
Good to know the galloping world is doing perfectly. How are those surfaces holding up? Found one good enough to race yet?

Totally agree.  For some unknown (to me) reason, Mr Admin is obviously a bit sensitive about this topic --- which suggests it's well worth pursuing.  His claim that WAP's hypotheses are unrelated to facts is laughable.

It was back to the "Outhouse" today for Aces N Eights who finished tailed off some 18 lengths from the winner. Normal transmission was resumed after the last start aberration.

Are you implying Cobalt is acceptable  and should be legalised ?
Trainers who apply cobalt to horses should be let off  without  penalty?
Here are   some recent articles from the SMH and some quotes which are interesting
    http://www.smh.com.au/sport/horseracing/new-cobalt-study-raises-fresh-welfare-concerns-for-horses-and-jockeys-20161113-gsoa39.htm
    http://www.smh.com.au/sport/horseracing/racing-cobalt-threshold-now-in-line-with-the-world-20160707-gq0ui4.html
What do you think would happen to racing in New Zealand  if welfare groups in NZ are made aware of horses trainers administering cobalt  and the  Racing Industry and RIU are turning a blind eye to it ?
Question- Is there any one on the Race Cafe site who can verify that the last quote is correct ? - It seems to make a lie of some of the excuses being passed around for positive tests to cobalt.

Can't imagine that you get too many trainers willing to pay up to get the results of particular swabs. Real red flag material!

You know and I know mr gobder only made reference to feed contamination to muddy the waters. He thinks we are gullible and judging by some previous comments on here some clearly are.  Look  at what he said.  He NEVER said this was a result of feed contamination. He simply made reference to a previous cobalt  positive being a result of feed contamination.  That case was a one off was it not, and what he did not refer to was the many dozens  of positives in Australasia that have had no feed contamination.    Feed contamination may be the case but you would think extremely unlikely given previous cases.                         As to the RIU not informing mr dalgety of the positive results earlier.    What do  you mean? I know they have a history of pre warning trainers of what they are testing for,but surely the onus is on any trainer, yourself included,to present your horse free of any performance enhancers. There has been the odd case in recent times in which trainers have returned positives without the intention to enhance performance but the use of cobalt does not fall into this category.    Any honest trainer does not need pre warned as he would be doing nothing illegal. The previous pre warning of trainers by the RIU to stop using  certain performance enhancers has been a failing of the RIU.  Sure if its feed contamination or something like that but not performance enhancers.      Do you not get it badger.  People like Dalgety have assumed they will be pre warned!!!  That is wrong Badger. Surely you get that.    The only thing the riu have done wrong here is to give the impression mr dalgety has  an excuse. They should not be doing that.   Mr Dalgety can talk for himself.

And let's not forget Cran Dalgety was the guy so desperate to win a premiership a few years back he had to import other horses in the last few weeks of the season just so he could beat the Purdons, that alone states the character of the man.

We all know if it's a leading stable some excuse of a bottle tipped over and landed in the feed or a young stable hand mixed up the feeds for the horses will come out as the excuse and be accepted and then the trainer wil be handed a slap with a wet bus ticket as penalty.

So apparently a stable is having their Positive Swabs (cobalt) announced tomorrow. Leading stable , but it's NOT THE ALLSTARS. I don't know who it is but does anyone on here know? Don't have the patience to wait..
Garrick Knight posted on Twitter about the announcement.

From the Outhouse (on Thursday) to the Penthouse (on Sunday) in terms of performance.
As a punter I just have to take it on the chin and accept these vast chasms between performance as the "vagaries of racing".
On Thursday Aces N Eights drew seven and was immediately eased off the gate and sat last throughout. He was pulled wide in the straight and plugged home finishing equal last some 6 lengths from the winner. He got his head on the side and didn't look comfortable. At $33 there was little expectation of a winning run even though he had won recently at Manawatu.
Now three days later to today (Sunday) he drew  seven again but this time he skied to the front showing great gate speed and refused to hand up when challenged. He proceeded to race clear up the straight and win with ease. Today paying $16 to win. He beat a horse like Danse Macabre by 5.4 lengths after being 4 lengths in arrears of that runner on Thursday that's a 9.4 length turnaround. Now Danse Macabre drew the ace on both days and had similar runs.
We all know horse racing is not an exact science but sometimes the improvements are just very hard to take.

One month with the new whip rule and here's the guilty party and penalties they got
    J MAckinnion  3 days suspension
S ottley 200 change to 300 on appeal
L oreilly 200 changes to 300 on appeal
    N Rasmussen 400
    J cox 1 day and 150
    R houghtan 300
    J Campbell 250
    G telfer 300
    M Edmonds 400
    A Donnelly 400
S Dickson refused to accepts the charge still pending
    M Anderson 350
    N McGrath 300
    R Anderson 4 days
    C markham 4 days
    S ottley 3 days 2nd offence
    B butt 300
    R may 400
    C thornely 400
    D white 2 days
    H jerard 300
    J Harrington 300
    T macfarlane 400
Big  differences as when the rule came in they said everyone was going to be treated with a clean slate for  the first offence no matter what there records were before the change, that would assume the fines should be all very similar but as you can see there's a lot of different fines, suspensions are different as they do go on an average drive count so someone who drives a lot may get 1 day as they may have average 5-6 drives a meeting and others may only average 1 drive a meeting

ALL STARS are awesome. Thoroughly professional and with Mark and Natalie at the helm you can be sure their plethora of star horses will be ready to lay down the gauntlet to any pretenders who happen along. They are both such good drivers and with Mark's eye for a horse he continues to buy the best performers year after year.
Rumours are generally baseless and are started by those who cannot compete with the excellence that is the best Harness Stable in Australasia.
Until there are any breaches or positive tests this talk needs to stop!
All Stars website is informative and very helpful. I thank them for communicating their stable news to the wider public. They don't have to do this but they do. It would be a sad day if this service were stopped because of haters.
They are the absolute pinnacle of this sport and should be admired not vilified.

A lot of hype earlier this season about the Northern horses but has turned into a whimper now.
Shandale,Hughie Green and one  of Stephen Reids that i cant remember the name of just seem to struggle against the Southern horses.

charge's should be laid! It is flat out incompetence.
Was following the hot favourite who was under no pressure. Wasn't a bad judgement call by any means.
personally I feel last time was worse (that went virtually unpunished) because that cost him the win were as I don't think he would have beat the winner this time.
never the less, would have placed and got people who invested some money back. Needs to be dealt with accordingly.
Racing has enough factors you need to take into account when doing form. My driver is an utter spastic shouldn't be one.

I would put the inconsistency of stipes rulings near the top of the list if it was on there..... no consistency to who gets thrown out (or not) sometimes and may as well toss a coin and throw out the rule book with some of the decisions they come up with in my opinion. Has been some in the last few weeks that defy logic.
