  1. Unlike jockeys the drivers go to the stables to get the horses many work either gearing up and in gearing  horses  and spend very little time in the jockey drivers room. I think you're over exaggerating that it would be a problem. On a lot of the grass circuits the drivers even just get changed at the stables.

  2. Groups 1 should be ffa . They are our elite races and the best horses who ever has them so be able to win them without being disadvantaged. Grp1 races should be won by the best horses on the day not the horses who have a 20-30m head start. General weekly are fine for handicaps but if everyone strives  for a good horse to race in the best races only then to be handicapped out of it what’s the point .

Seems like theTelfer stable were trying to carry out a bit of team driving a la the Purdon stables. Trouble is they neither had the horse power nor the training ability to do so.

More the like a good old g small tactis. Where the attacker always drops out. Often the purdon attacker goes on to win the race

Fair enough. Is a real advantage for fast athletes like Bolt to be on level terms I guess. (ends up unbeaten for a decade and we lose a generation of classy opponents) Races would be better if he should go back 5m lol.

but with Being a Horseman though , and seeing how they Stop thoroughbred horses with weight to 'Even Up' the contest. (e.g Phar Lap and many many others in some of the great races ,) the Handicapper chucks a heap of weight on someone like Verry Elleegant from Nz to try and (help the opponents in a way) to keep up with her ??? she still Won the Cup anyway bless her....

Makes for a better contest in the feature races. Cardy, Lordship, the Fling are immortals because of it.

Do you think 10m would really hurt Sundee's Son in the Dominion (should be 20m actually ) and 10m would hurt Self Assured in the  NZ Cup this Nov?  I don't . would be a better race IMO.

And if as you say run as a FFA  why NOT USE THE MOBILE then ?? Idiots have untold complaints for poor standing starts dispatches, when it's un-necessary then ? lol.  No Handicap = use the bloody mobile then and get them all away on the journey safely.

I think if  you put sunder son and self assured on 10 behind and horses like bolt for brilliance and copy that in front line yes it would make a massive difference in facts I’d say it puts there race winning chance effectively over

  5. In the very big ffa races I’m happy with. No handicaps.  I think handicapping the best so a lesser like can have the big advantage isn’t right, In almost every sports big comps majors grand slams anything there is no handicap  imagine saying to usain bolt you have to run 105m in the Olympic final or the world number one in golf or tennis having to win but extra points or shots, striving to be the best only to get penalised isn’t fair , a really good horse is only ever at the top for 2-3 years at most let them be the champions they are on level terms  and then wait for the next one to take over the  crown

  6. So we make the all blacks win by 20points otherwise they lose   when they play anyone ?  Or make usain bolt start from 10m behind . The best events should be open to everyone but also should   Be open for everyone to start with exactly the same luck in the draw.  It’s bad enough the pref draws every other week but when it’s black type races ffa conditions should be permanent no penalties for. Being the best of the bunch. I’ve never had a horse good enough to affect by this but I love watching the best be the best . When they start getting penalised for being the best in big races is a joke

  7. Cambridge should worry more about raising the poor stake levels for the rest of the year than throwing money to a once a season race. There stakes  are woeful and have always been the lowest around in the north for ages. Facilities are run down and even those they splashed a lock of paint around a few things it’s a disgrace the condition   Of the stalls and stabling area

  8. There’s not much point Auckland horses paying majestic horse floats to take them down a and race for the poor stakes on offer at Cambridge when they can shoot up the motorway and race for better stakes at Auckland. After Auckland got transferred to Cambridge last week they should’ve just run one meeting this week at Auckland

  9. Should be closed noms  so  you nominate if you think your horse is ready to race and then you see it in a feild . Have high scratching stand  down penalties so people don’t just scratch. The north island is terrible for extending noms they might as well make the time later   .

  10. Great tipping  hope you got plenty . Ants Certainly tried  hard to beat king of swing by chopping  him of early  unfortunately  it didn’t work and picking the suspension will be a decent one. King of swings run was massive after the early check and what can ya say about the mare when it really counts in the bigs ones she thrives on the hot tempos. Outstanding mare . Auckland cup auckland derby. These two big ones in aussie against the boys great result for Nathan. Her head to head against copy that must be close

  11. with the new season about to start it would’ve been nice to see Cambridge lift it’s stakes but yet again it’s disappointing to see 8k races programmed  for its first meeting. There’s not a lot of incentive to race a horse when a club like this offers the worse stakes in the north island , anyone traveling from puke or further basically has to run 3rd to break even for the week
