  1. Well if they did that in nz it would hurry cases like the Crans case be herd quickly
  2. Exactly any starter with half a brain for the safety of the drivers and horses would have said to the stipes (which is funny as he is a stipe also )straight away its not safe to try again unless track consitionschanged .which after 5 minutes it was never going to change . But we all know peter lamb prefers to hear himself on the microphone instead
  3. I see aussie have changed there no whip rule now
  4. Continually we see these two clubs offering the lowest stakes is it time hrnz stepped in more and helped them with stakes or help put plans in place to up the stakes soon or close them down . So often we see them put stakes at the minimum allowed amount for many races $6000 I think the lowest are possible allowed, it's probly just ok for a winners but when you say run 4th you get 275 at Cambridge and 240 forbury. Is it time hrnz closed down clubs that are struggling ? Surely horses traveling from Canterbury to help boast forbury fields they almost have at least run 2nd to even break even ?
  5. I do like his idea of having it based on a calendar year stakes earned so you can't race in summer months
  6. So what ur saying is Hrnz and the Riu need to lift their game and not allowed participants to push the limits of the rules they set in place.? i do understand what your saying but if the the rules are there and the officials don't do anything about it then fair play to them. if a trainer drugs his horses up but never produces a positive so be it the rules and limits are there for a reason once they go over threshold sting them hard. Same goes for team driving if the stipes or Hrnz think they have a case then hit them hard but ATM they are playing well with the rules. Natalie got fine $450 for not keeping her horse straight in that race yet in Auckland mango only got fine $500 for purposely pushing the trailing horse into the passing lane and forcing hat runner to take hold and end up 3fence in the 2yo filles group 1 at Auckland a few weeks ago.
  7. Yet they let mark jones and other trainers if they wanted to join in those private workouts aswell also they allowed full coverage to trackside to fil, and time those workouts . Any trainer can ask alexandra park if they want to have a few work on the track before a pemier meeting and the club will allowed it if time suits (with construction ) . Their arent the only trainers complaining about the handicaping systems havent you seen the stories on harness express about 90 south island trainers at one meeting all complaining about the system, why is it only purdon says something you jump up and down .?
  8. So the other week we saw the devils own sit parked and make the leader run along . She still beats the leader home well and truly runs 3rd . Saturday we see alta maestro sit park and make the leader run and pretty much ruin his chances and finish well beaten midfield . What's the difference in the two drives? Was dexter out to just ruin the favorites /leaders chance aswell. And because his stable mate didn't win and he dropped of of contention on the 2nd favorite it's ok because he's not a purdon runner? The only difference in the two drive is in the first one the attacker beat the leader home. In the second case it was the attacker who was made to look ordinary . However I see both races as good competitive races . And would rather people chance there arm, if both races if the parked horse just sits up and let the leaders jog around and sprint home both leaders probly win but then everyone complains how boring racing in when the leaders just walk and round and no one puts their horses in the races .
  9. Why restrict them to one runner per race, if there good enough to buy get given the best horses why penalties them. You said you haven't gotten over the blue magic saga but remember he never produced a positive for blue magic he simply went to the stipes and told all his owner look he's used it a few and will cop what ever penalty is given to him even tho had he fought it with no positive he could not have been charged. They got beaten fair and square in the last by a great drive from zac , however they couldve easily set the race up and have Natalie hand up to mark down the back and put zac 3back the fence and have the lead trail with there best two chances but they didn't maybe they underestimated zacs horse or maybe just the fact they felt they they could win it with trying dirty team tactics. Spankems race they could've easily had mark hand up the front to dexter and have another runner of theirs come around and soften dexter up but yet again they didn't you could try and say mark sacrificed spankem leaving it set up for the swoopers but that's drawer a long bow as yet again even tho he parked dexter he still beat him home and only just got caught late. They drive to give there horses the best chance of earning top dollar, they don't drive to sacrifice one for the better of another as (Geoff small used to ) They have the luxury which is earned by thier record to have people buy and send them horses who in another stable would be the stables star and horse that would be wrapped in cotton will, yet as they have /get offered so many good horses they can pick and choose which ones they want to train .
  10. I see kim butt got done twice in same meeting
  11. Trainer loves to say stuff to media but generally never follows thru with what he says. Bit like the boy who cried wolf
  12. Heaven rocks ? If maybe mr mojito runs a solid clip upfront or if those two go to war
  13. Could it be the first year the 1:50 mark gets broken in nz ?
  14. At every meeting I've attended the committees have put forward a suggested black and white system . Hrnz just don't seemed to take it in That this one small detail of a black and white point system would stop alot of the complaining as no one could argue if everyone is treated the same
  15. I'm certain the system will work and help keep horses here and racing bigger fields. Time and a few tweaks will solve everything I'm sure
  16. Pretty soon people will be saying that making horses train and race records speeds on hard or slippery wet tracks (gallops) is cruel and will be calling a stop to it all so shall the horseman take a lead and stop training and racing altogether ? next the world will be saying rugby players are getting too many injuries and will want to stop contact in sport. You can only go so far to please everyone. Ive sat in a few pubs and tabs after work and the poeple that hold the racing clubs up the punters never once have i herd them say stop hitting a horse. More often that not you can hear people who have actually spent money backing a horse yell out hit the blood thing . Weather thats a good look thing or not isnt for me to decide but in any bussiness when you stop pleasing the costumer your bussiness goes under. Is racing stops pleaseing the punter well who will be left to help boost stakes ?
  17. The point most trainers are angry about is the discretion of alloctaed points as its not consistent some horses are getting points for placings and others not when it could be the same stake and condition of races . They want it black and white so for just an example say race above 9k every win 10 every 2nd is 2pts every 3rd is one and 4th opts , then maybe a race under 9k every win 7pts every second 2nd 1 pts 3rd and 4th 0pts plus both races 5or lower -1 . They don't want to see 2 races for under 9k and one race the winner get 8 and second horse 0 and they other race winner get 6 and second get 2 . That's the main part frustrating trainers is not knowing what the handicappers will give each horse
  18. Think there may be more of a split fine system wanted like bracketed fine amount for certain hits for example 10-13 maybe 200 14 - 16 3-400 17plus more not 100% on this tho that it will happen but horsemen ATM can get the same fine for 11 strikes as the do for 20
  19. The rule states connections can't protest but there's a sub clause that the stipes could've protested under that fact the devils own caused enough interference to multiple runners . But they seemed to not worry about that
  20. Crazy sectionals ? You having a laugh. 42.5 lead up, 31.7 1st quarter 29.3 second quarter when David had a small crack for the lead. Those aren't crazy times Jesus a few weeks ago the c1 boys trot was 43 lead time 30s flat 1st 1/4
  21. Funny how only his feed from that supplier was contaminated tho
  22. As the rules are currently you pretty much can as mark can only protest if he could prove had she not checked him he was going to beat her home . Also if she checked him and he say ran fourth the only protest mark could've done was to get the connections of Natalie's horse to pay the difference in the 3rd ( where it looked he would finish ) and say 4th if she checked him and he lost 3rd position. And also if say she checked him and he ran out of the first 5 there's no way he can protest unless the stipes deemed her actions deliberate or dangerous which in the case was just a case of good aggressive driver on her part.
  23. Pretty sure it's her 2nd offence for hitting a horse while her leg is hanging down which the deem that to improper use. Improper use carries a much higher starting point than what excessive use does aswell.
  24. To be fair I think the trainers want a system that will help not hurt the owners horses ?
  25. Not exactly right there tho, Drivers can hit say 5 free hand stikes then switch back to the reign in hand and hit say a further 8 then got back to the free and hit a futher 5 times without getting charged as long as the 8 with reign in with hand are spaced evenly ( so say 4 then a short pause and then another 4 )
