  1. Hmmm it is not easy and the costs unlikely to change much in the near future or in our life time. So what do you move mother and daughter on????
  2. Come on ADM you have a very good family just waiting to explode. It needs protecting.
  3. K3 level of breeding appears to be dead in the water. Financially I can fully understand it. If they take away K3 and move it to May sale and/or gavelhouse will k3 mares be completely eradicated. Do K3 level stallions therefore also get removed. The industry involvement continues to contract. Mind you with Te Aroha abandoning today why wouldn't you. Hurry up Winston.
  4. Always sad to loose a sire of some quality. Have a mare in foal to him this season so fingers crossed. RIP Align.
  5. MiDeBo was just thinking of a similar situation that I am thinking of with mine creating a 3x3 to Octagonal.
  6. Does anyone know why Bachelor Duke is not showing on the Oaks Stud website or have I missed something.
  7. Agree with Ted that to use the owners swingers is a good starting point ( had the same thought ). The point is Blind Squirrel we don't have anything to work with. Remind me again who pays the bills???? Can anyone remind me who the Minister for Racing is?
  8. Might be time to put some ideas together to some how get this changed. I live and breath my horses all of which I breed to race but have got to the stage where I have no desire to actually get along to the races and see them run. Often as they start out they are at mid week meetings and I usually have to go on my own ( sad as that may sound ), but really I find it so highly offensive that I can't get down to the stables and wish my baby luck. Are there any progreesive clubs out there who might buck the trend???? or is it Cameron George 1 NZ racing 0.
  9. Another thing to note and to show how sad this rule is, is that when the horses come back into the birdcage after having raced owners along with trainers are able to walk amongst the throng willy nilly while the unsaddling is going on. Go figure - oh so amatuerishly inconsistent.
  10. Hellalujah. It is so sad that the day to day face of the industry is in such decline. The raising of stakes money is not the solution. The breeding of horses is a disease for which there is no cure. I for one can only rely on the fact that I am not dependant on my girls in the paddock to produce me an income.
  11. Having breed a foal who finally gets to the races, of which I race why is it such a poor experience on NZ race courses to actually get involved with the horse being saddled and getting to the starting gates. Please do not tell me it is a health and safety issue.
  12. I understand the thoroughbred breeders association has been moved on from their Ellerslie headquarters. I wonder why?
  13. Dear god if anything really comes of this then maybe it is time to stop jockey's using whips. That is how poorly founded this whole nonsense is. I love my horses to death and appreciate that they get treated like they are in health spa prior to sale. If any genuine investigation where to happen can anyone ask the horse involved if he really felt it? I think not.
  14. Obviously the above posts do not come from those who deal with horses day to day. They do bite. If the SPCA needs to investigate this then I for one will never donate to them again and I do on a regular basis.
  15. Still concerns me. He is still a K3 stallion. I have a close relation to Survived and at $4 even a nice colt won't probably break even at K3 sales which is the benchmark for breeders to work off. But it is my choice to breed.
