  1. Jimmy Choux is a year older, has yet to add an Aussie Group One at WFA level to his CV and his connections didn't take the opportunity to test him as a 3yo against the older horses. Taking that into account, I think Mrs Waterhouse's comments are about right.
  2. SUPER EASY, the 3yo Colt by DARCI BRAHMA out of the Gold Brose mare, PARFORE, won the 1st leg of the 3yo Challenge in Singapore last night in dominant fashion, margin 1.3 lengths and untested. SUPER EASY is now eight wins from eight starts in Singapore. Link to race below. http://videos.turfclub.com.sg/20120330SR08.wmv
  3. A win ticket on your horse given to the jockey before the race is a good option
  4. It is notable that no fastest time record i.e over all tracks as opposed to individual tracks, appears to have been broken in NZ since 2008 and some of the records have stood for many years longer than that. I am inclined to think that track watering may have a strong part to play in that.
  5. Ah, I see, having two current superstars of the turf possibly not starting in one of the great races in Aus is somehow "good news."
  6. Phar Lap Fan, I think this is what you are looking for, go to link, then to page 29. http://www.nzracing.co.nz/Downloads/NZTRfactbookweb2010.pdf
  7. Check link here for pedigree and race performance http://home.xtra.co.nz/hosts/javalodge/pdf/indian_danehill_pedigree.pdf and here for his stud record http://bloodstock.racingpost.com/stallionbook/stallion.sd?horse_id=502686

During his phenomenal stud career, Danehill became a champion sire on both sides of the Equator. He is the most successful sire of all time with 349 stakes winners and 89 Group/Grade I winners[citation needed]. He was the leading sire in Australia nine times, the leading sire in Great Britain and Ireland three times, and the leading sire in France twice. He was a bay stallion by leading sire Danzig (by Northern Dancer) out of Razyana (by His Majesty). Danehill was inbred twice to Natalma in the third generation (3x3) of his pedigree. He was a brother to a stakes winner, Eagle Eyed, and two other stallions, Anziyan and Nuclear Freeze.[1] Danehill was owned during his racing career by Khalid Abdullah, who also bred him. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danehill_(horse)
  9. Thanks Apprentice for your comments. I believe your "mail" is accurate indeed.
  10. I might be biased, but I thought Darci Be Good ran a bold 1600 metres in this race. Ridden cold, he finished strongly in the straight, suffered a couple of checks but was still very close at the end. He will be much better suited by the Rosehill Guineas' distance and of course the ATC Derby. He has been a bit "forgotten", but was very strong in the Spring.
  11. Mufhasa is clear an enthusiast for the horse and we should celebrate that. The flat record he is talking about ( I believe) for most consecutive wins is about 56 held by a Puerto Rican horse. The point Mufhasa is making about BIG BUCKS is that he built up an extraordinary sequence of unbeaten runs over hurdles. He is not all suggesting that Big Bucks would beat BC or Frankel, just pointing out that his record in hurdle events is simply outstanding.
  12. You are right about the market thinking that ZURELLA was a good thing. Even the trainer had said on more than one occasion that ARTISTIC was a good "second stringer" to ZURELLA. And to be fair to ZURELLA, another stride and she would have won. Credit to Michael Coleman for "going early"; in doing so he established a critical break.
  13. You are clearly not a Place better then Chelseacol!!!!! Nice First 4 divvy wasn't it, given that the fave ran 2nd? Thanks for the congrats
  14. Headline up and coming Sire, DARCI BRAHMA, gets his first Group One win, the winner, ARTISTIC, is owned by the Oaks Stud, who stand DARCI BRAHMA and for the icing on the cake, they own the runner up, ZURELLA, as well and both fillies trained by Shaune Ritchie. Fairy tale stuff!!! Who wrote that script? http://www.fortuna-nz.com/News/DARCI-BRAHMA-Sires-his-first-Group-One-winner
  15. Being schooled by a master as we speak; he is a very talented jumper; has a bit to learn but all going well you may see him contest a Maiden Hurdle race this Autumn
  16. You are all alone here with your postings Mufhasa so here to give you some support. Just a sensational performance by Big Bucks last night - a real Super Star and as you say, a "people's Champion"
  17. Well, unless there are some special conditions attached to the Easter Handicap, I would have thought that the "top weight" would be 59kgs. But I stand to be corrected. Maybe Sheriff can come to the rescue here
  18. This does seem to be the core of the issue here.
  19. But the reality is that what you describe above has become "de rigeur" in other areas such as the medical profession, the legal profession, for financial advisers etc, etc, etc. I take the point about "memory lapses" on the part of disaffected owners, but then if all of the disclosures were made initially and there is a good paper trail in place, then there is a good chance that the "disaffectment" will not go anywhere. I know it is difficult, particularly for trainers who are busy enough as it is without having to engage in a whole lot of "disclosure" paper work, but as we are seeing in the O'Shea case, by taking shortcuts, it has the potential to destroy a life's work.
  20. Disturbing indeed Sherriff, however in this age of much greater disclosure, transparency and consumer expectations, it is critical that anyone selling shares in horses "go the extra mile" to make sure that there can be no come back. At the very least, a general disclosure about the risks of racing should be made and then any specific risks stemming from vet or X-ray reports need to be identified. Below is a paragraph from the judgement, which is probably key to the findings. "There was no dispute that there was a contractual arrangement between the appellant and Mr O'Shea, pursuant to which the latter advised the appellant in respect of possible purchases. It was also accepted that Mr O'Shea would obtain a veterinary assessment of a horse before recommending it. Mr O'Shea obtained such an assessment with respect to Dashere: the first matter in dispute was whether he should have informed Mr Vieira of the precise terms of that assessment, or warned him that the horse was not without "issues", or made no recommendation that the horse be purchased. He did not do either of the first and second, and did make a recommendation to purchase."
  21. would be how I would describe Chris Weaver's time at the helm. The job is not finished yet, but his successor, whomever that may be, now has the opportunity to build onto the platform that is in place
