Ohokaman got a reaction from Pegasus 9 in Vale - Verry Elleegant
You have to wonder Shad.
She was three weeks overdue so you would think that they should have picked up that the foal was in the breech position early on.
My question would be why did they wait so long with the c-section to prevent the damage the foal caused to her insides ?
Breech–In this scenario the hind limbs or quarter of the foal presents first and the mare's continued contractions cause the placenta to separate, which can result in asphyxiation of the foal. If the foal is able to be delivered alive, the umbilical cord may have unknowingly been compromised, resulting in a variety of possible complications, including broken ribs or delayed hypoxia due to brain swelling that can lead to a dummy foal, seizures, etc. Early recognition is important and often a c-section or assisted vaginal delivery is required.
When manual manipulation by hand fails, the next step is often assisted vaginal delivery (also called “controlled delivery”). In this scenario, the mare is put under anesthesia and her hind quarters are lifted so the foal is able to slip back into the birth canal, where it either naturally falls into a more desirable position or can be manipulated by hand into such a position that it can be delivered without surgical intervention.
One of the most important factors in any type of birthing mishap is having an educated foaling attendant on hand who can make informed, timely decisions about how best to assist the mare, when to call a veterinarian and when to send the mare to an equine hospital for more invasive care.
In the case of a severe dystocia, the question of whether the focus should be to save the mare or the foal will often arise. While the ultimate goal is a successful outcome for both, the question should be addressed prior to the severity of the dystocia reaching a climax.
It is also wise to keep track of the amount of time that has passed since the mare was found to be in distress. If a veterinarian is called in for assistance, this can help him or her gauge how long they have to work on the dystocia before making the decision to send the mare to the clinic and can help them prioritize their approach to the situation at hand.

Bullshit. Simple fact is if they had really had her best interests at heart, she would have been retired in Australia and this doesn’t happen.
Nick Beshara and others sold out because they didn’t agree either. Kheir and Sokolski made that decision.
There was nothing to be gained by going to Europe, it did nothing for her reputation or rating, which went down.
Greed and egos pure and simple.

Correct Pegasus.
If this wanker had listened to Chris this would never have happened because she wouldn’t have left Australia.
Crocodile tears from a bloke who thought he knew better…..

Ohokaman reacted to Friend Family in Craig Willliams Surely Had a Brain Explosion
Gruff said .......
Memps, have you actually seen those instructions. Most know
.Being relaxed is intergral.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Reckon we are fighting a losing battle Gruffy -Boy ......not many AVID horse racing people on here actually realise how important the relaxation and breathing during a race is integral to success.
However it was good to get other people's opinions.
In a re-trial the jury said .....
Williams - Guilty of a bad ride (and admitted it to the owners) .....sentenced to 30 days without food and a bucket of Revlon day n night face cream.
Jimmysstar - NOT Guilty .... and when he addressed the jury he said ....Ladies and Gentlemen being ridden out of my comfort zone the first 800 mtrs left me breathless .....not to mention that fcker on my outside annoying me the whole way until straightening....so when Craggy Face asked me to go again I just couldn't breath properly and that meant I couldn't quicken when he asked me to and I'm sorry for that ......maybe next time if I am ridden more conservatively I will find the line in my traditional fashion and salute the judge.
Terry Bailey (TB to his mates) said he was on air one day and an insurance tout called him to try and sell him a policy. He said 'Listen ....don't you EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER call this number again' and hung up....... which is exactly what Kieran Maher will say to the next jockey thats legged up on Jimmysstar and all future hoops thereafter ....don't you EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER hunt this horse early.....he must be ridden in his comfort zone....just jump out and let him relax and he will find the line for you.
Pogo (in the Gallery) yelled out ....BUT your honour they didn't go that quickly.....to which the judge replied ....Mr Pogo ...sit down and listen up.....your outburst is completely irrelevant and unwarranted....as every horse is different just like you are to other human beings.... but at least you have a sense of humour which is a good attribute....and sadly lacking in others. Objection over-ruled.
And here endith the Jimmysstar controversy...... Jimmy was not guilty.... Willow was guilty....Pogo was issued a warning for disrupting the court.....and the judge went home for dinner chuckling to himself.

Waller wanted to retire her Stodge, he understood her better than anyone.
After the Melbourne Cup win she had nothing else to prove…..and had put over $14m in connections pockets, which wasn’t enough apparently.
No need for her to go to Europe and plenty of quality stallions here for her. I bet Waller is seething privately that his advice was ignored.

Ohokaman got a reaction from JJ Flash in Craig Willliams Surely Had a Brain Explosion
A furious Ciaron Maher said he was at a loss as to Craig Williams’ tactics on his hot $1.26 favourite Jimmysstar, who led up before being run down by $151 winner Makram at Flemington on Saturday.
“Craig just had an absolute brain fade,” Maher said after the race.
“I don’t know why he did that. That was not the plan. It has never been discussed.
“It (plan) was ride comfortable wherever he lands back in the field, like he does every start.
“A very, very poor ride. Just stupid.
“I don’t know why he would do that and that’s all I can say. He’s ridden the horse before.”
Jimmysstar jumped well from barrier 10 of 12 but instead of drifting back to find a position as he had in his three previous Australian starts, Williams pressed on with the horse eventually taking the lead.
He travelled well enough but could not shake off his challengers on the home turn and after finally shrugging off Savannah Cloud, he was left a sitting shot for a charging Makram.
Part-owner John O’Neill said connections were surprised to see Jimmysstar in front.
“The horse has never led in his life,” O’Neill observed. “Craig made a call and said they went a lot harder at the start than what he thought.
“He went forward and had the chance to go back and take a little breather in behind the pack and obviously he thought he was an on a $1.20 thing and could just go across and lead.
“Completely foreign territory for the horse, Disappointing for the punters and the owners and I know Ciaron is pretty annoyed and frustrated.
“To Craig’s credit he came back and apologized. He said I made a blue with the ride.”

Ohokaman reacted to gubellini in Craig Willliams Surely Had a Brain Explosion
Ted as you know I am a recidivist jockey defender! Three mitigating circumstances: He was the lowest rated horse in the field (85). He was only having his 7th start- the other runners had 226 races between them- seasoned tough campagners- in boxing parlance a bit light throwing a middleweight into the ring v a heavyweight. When you change a back runners racing style to on the pace invariably their breathing pattern goes out of kilter and they are vulnerable late.
