Problem there is not only general apathy, particularly at this time of the year, the interest is only in holiday destinations and a day out in the sun at a picturesque racecourse ( think Motukarara, Central Otago etc) is attractive to families, hence the good attendance figures. Apart from that, there is only so much discretionary dollar to go around.. More races won’t help much if I’ve already spent/lost mine….
