  1. When I have a good collect....I spend 90% of it on booze and women. The other 10% I waste.
  2. Well you are leading the comp Hesi so one would say you know plenty. Have to agree, I was surprised that he took her straight to the lead. I think she is better off sitting off the leaders and sprinting home. She does have a turn of foot as evidenced in some of her previous runs. The Derby run was huge.
  3. If it was that controversial one would have thought it would have rated a mention here since, but not word. Storm in a teacup??
  4. Don't forget Ms Scratchyanutz..... Chris Waller (NZ)
  5. Exactly. In the race previous race at Flemington they put up Manhatten Avenue as the winner.
  6. No, it was the guy on the gate who became oblivious to what was happening. Instead of keeping the gate shut he opens it to let the clerk of the course in and then opens it up again to let a horse out. Then Her To Eternity arrives on the scene and the guy leaves the gate open and runs away down the track and the horse makes it way out onto the track and gallops away only to be late scratched. At no stage did he look to what was happening with Her To Eternity after she ran back into the main birdcage area to check if she had been caught and he did not see her returning to the gate until she was nearly there and then he panicked and ran away. The gate should not have been opened until Her To Eternity was caught and under control. Common sense really.
  7. Thanks Todamax. Isn't he a lovely horse and what a great divvy for him. Yes, I bet George wishes he hadn't sold him now, but congratulations to George and Maryanne for breeding a Group winner. I believe this horse can win a G1.
  8. How the hell does Her To Eternity end up loose out on the track and ends up being a scratching? The horse escapes the handler in the birdcage and comes down the shute to where the horses are going on to the track. The gate is closed and Her To Eternity turns and goes back down into the birdcage. Instead of waiting for the horse to be caught the idiots open the birdcage gate again and this time the horse escapes out on to the track and gallops around the track. Dumb! Dumb! and Dumb!
  9. Just keep backing the Kiwis today Zelda Scratchyanutz.
  10. Nice odds, get some of that. Lets hope Oliver doesn't go to sleep this time and puts her in the race. She has been harshly treated with weight in both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups however and plans may have to change in view of that. If Mukhadram is withdrawn from the Caulfield Cup weights will be raised 2kgs having her carry 56.5kgs. No mare has won the Caulfield Cup with more than 54.5kgs since 1942. She has been allotted 56.5kgs for the Melbourne Cup and only one mare has carried more weight to win in the history of the Cup and that was Makybe Diva.
  11. Ellerslie: Jet Trac Caulfield Awesome Rock Trust In A Gust
  12. Someone knew something about it. Was the $3.00 favourite on the TAB last night so some money had been placed on the horse. Admittedly there wouldn't have been a lot in the pool then, but favourite last night and noticed Parkes had got off Princess Padoza to ride the first starter. It was worth a small nibble.
  13. I thought I would bump this up as a wee reminder following some hot pot 3yos getting beaten against the older horses. On Saturday at Te Aroha in R2 the $2 shot Hilarious Honour was beaten easily. 3 hot pot 3yos were beaten at Matamata today: $2 shots Keeping Tom in R2 and Red Robyn in R5. $1.70 shot Amun Ra in R3 As mentioned they are too close to the older horses at the weights and do find it hard especially on heavy tracks. Be careful out there .
  14. "What that act says is that all alcohol consumed on the premises of of liquor licence holder (most racing clubs) must have been purchased from the holder of that liquor licence." If that is correct Tauhei then what about the yearling sales at Karaka? Virtually all the studs/vendors have a hospitality site near their boxes. ie marquees, caravans etc providing food/drink etc. The licence for the sale of alcohol is presumely with the caterer/bar management. Strictly then, if you are correct, then these vendors will not be able to provide any alcohol unless purchased through the bar. Absolute nonsense.
  15. And I don't like humans with high winds emanating from their clacker, especially after they have had a curry the night before
  16. No home today BK. Counties meeting which they will run. Lady Royale - some really nice fillies engaged here. Shuka - needs luck from the draw Blanket Bay - ditto Good luck all.
  17. He certainly did and is a pretty smart galloper. Nice first 4 with him
  18. Gee Sunlineboy you better hope the last two can get up otherwise someone may give you the CT mantle as horse stopper. Mary Quant 2nd beaten by the ground but both High Tail It and Az Given went shocking. Good luck.
  19. Don't be stupid Fasthorse. Glenda Hughes has publically acknowledged that operating costs that sit at at 41% of gross turnover is unacceptable. That has to be addressed (sooner rather than later) and processes put in place in order to do so but the reduction can't happen over night. Obviously the cloth must be cut to suit but indiscriminate hacking is senseless. Don't forget when looking at staff numbers, seeing you started this thread about staff salaries, that KPMG auditors have already queried the need for so many staff.
  20. Glenda Hughes called the meeting to the best of my knowledge. I spoke with Wheels last Friday re the meeting. A full and frank discussion took place however suffice to say, any changes/action will not happen over night. Again, as I have already told you, go and have a chat with him.
  21. Slowhorse, would you confirm which meeting you are talking about. You started a thread NZTR/Trainers meeting and I asked that question to you in that however you did not respond. Again, these are NZRB costs/salaries we are discussing. The only meeting that I know of taking place last week was a private meeting with John Wheeler (Tony Pike??) and Glenda Hughes.
  22. We can, as an industry, ill-afford to lose any race days so are more than happy to help out. We would have been happy to hold the other meeting that was abandoned at Counties a couple of weeks ago also. If you recall our Sunday meeting was abandoned after just three races due to the gale force winds making it unsafe for riders. The track was in excellent order and could have accomodated Counties on the Wednesday. An early decision has been made here for this Saturday which is good for all stakeholders who can plan accordingly.
  23. Hallowed Crown is not going to run in the Caulfield Guineas. Going for the Roman Consul Stakes 1200m ob Oct 4th and then the Coolmore Stud Stakes 1600m four weeks later.
  24. Due to the unsafe nature of the Counties track their meeting which was to have been held on Saturday has been transferred to Te Aroha.
  25. Fasthorse, why don't you do yourself a favour. Instead of coming on here as a lone voice and continually facing death by a thousand cuts, why don't you (as I have suggest previously) sit down with John Wheeler and be enlightened. He is not hard to find.
