  1. Looks an obvious quinella with the Paul Mirabelli trained filly by No Excuse Needed.
  2. Rambling Kid: I posted on an earlier thread Head 2 Head Betting where I explained why I consider it to be morally bankrupt, a thread you posted on incidentally. To remind you: Posted 29 August 2014 - 09:57 AM I am on record here as being not a fan of this bet type and don't place bets on this Head to Head betting option. It is morally bankrupt betting type where you have the possibilty of having two horses who are both beaten, being flogged to beat the other home when they have no chance of being in a dividend bearing placing.
  3. The only one not paying attention is you Slowhorse: Reserves halved from $135m to $65m in ten years. Operating costs at 41% of GROSS Revenue. Typhoon Loss $20m because of a lack of due dilligence. Co-mingling not researched enough before commiting, the Aussies saw us coming on that one whoever signed that off at the time. 4 Chairs in 4 years 6 CEO's in six years with wish lists instead of accurate and realistic forecasts, anyone who believed Andrew Brown's 5 year plan belonged in La La Land with him. Exorbitant salaries having been paid and continuing with excessive staffing numbers. $10 million for move to Auckland etc etc All this, plus much more has been has been posted here over a number of years. I note you have not one person in support of your posts and therefore strongly suggest that it is you that needs to listen and learn..
  4. Torch Damien Oliver faced one charge which was having a bet in a race in which he was riding: David Walker faces a similar charge: Rule 707 (1) – A Rider may only bet on a race and/or sports event (including but not limited to a Race) in New Zealand or in any other jurisdiction, provided that where he is betting on a race and he is riding a horse in that race he may only bet on the horse he is riding. There the similarity stops. David Walker has also been charged with: Following an investigation the RIU has charged Mr Walker for breaching - Rule 801 (1) (m) – A person commits a Serious Racing Offence within the meaning of these Rules who commits a dishonest or fraudulent act connected with racing or betting associated with racing This charge is far more serious.
  5. The sooner this morally bankrupt head to head betting option is removed the better.
  6. Absolutely tragic. Some current affairs programme in Australia should get hold of this story and screen it. The public would be mortified, as I am reading this.
  7. Slowhorse, 72 is the number as quoted by Barry Lichter in The Sunday Star Times two or three weeks ago with I think 6 being paid in excess of $250k. 72 is the number quoted by John Wheeler on the radio to Glenda Hughes which she never disputed. You can take that figure as being correct. If anyone doesn't know the correct figure it is you.
  8. Tax cuts of $30 million Fasthorse. Hmm..I don't suppose NZRB operating costs increased by roughly the same amount.
  9. Due to the state of the track Counties meeting tomorrow has been abandoned.
  10. NGH is 59. I don't think Hesi is meaning NGH. Could it be a Matamata trainer/rider I think you are referring to Hesi?
  11. Chui gets one month for that shocker on a premier day. Bloody light for mine.
  12. Ask Jonathon Parkes who did the the same thing on this track not so long ago. 5 weeks he got however this is a premier day. Chui will be having a nice holiday.
  13. Sacred Star (7) Chivalry (9) Messene (7)
  14. The title of this thread is correct. Trials are indeed a veritable goldmine for finding a winner or three.
  15. The mouthpiece Fasthorse has obviously been prompted to post again. Reserves have halved in the last ten years from $130 million to $65 million. We had free racing. Why don't you pop up the road to Foxton and ask your mate, trainer David Howarth why it was canned. With regard to your average stakes figures why didn't you put the number of races run for that period? Compare the stakes across the board in Melbourne, Sydney and Hastings today and then tell us how well we are going. Then look at the NZRB operating costs of 41% of gross income. What would this do for stakes if this was reduced by say 10%. Next time you are at the races and you see Wheels, go and tell him how wonderful things are and how he is so fortunate that things are in such good hands.
  16. Looking forward to the clash between the pair. Anun Ra has the benefit of being more race fit having won impressively at Te Rapa at the end of June and winning a trial at Waipa last month and has the better draw. Turn Me Loose hasn't raced since early May and hasn't trialed (but has been working super) so will take more improvement out of this race. I will still be backing Turn Me Loose to win however and naturally taking the quinella with the two. Good Luck Rev.
  17. Good to see you back DYBI. Spot on. We should send you in with Wheels to see Glenda..
  18. Boris walks into the bedroom with a sheep tucked under his arm and says, "Darling, this is the pig I shag when you are not around." Madame Zelda said, "That's a sheep." Boris replied, "I wasn't talking to you."
  19. I note you have weekly prizes for Bi people (bi weekly prizes) I'll be in if you have weekly prizes for straight people as well
  20. I am positive that not one person condones what David Walker did here. Should the allegation be proven then it was corrupt and stupid, however this thread is about Head to Head betting itself and that is what the comments are about. As I stated above I find it to be a morally bankrupt betting option.
  21. I am on record here as being not a fan of this bet type and don't place bets on this Head to Head betting option. It is morally bankrupt betting type where you have the possibilty of having two horses who are both beaten, being flogged to beat the other home when they have no chance of being in a dividend bearing placing. Thankfully there is no rule regarding head to head runners and jockeys having to ride their mounts to the line when well beaten. So if a jockey eased his mount late in the race or dropped his hands short of the line when back in the field and the other runner beats him home no charges can be made.
  22. Just read Mike Dillon's article on page A18 in the NZ Herald re the David Walker ride on Watch Your Man and note a couple of bad errors in his story. He writes about David Walker placing bets on another horse in the race St Ransom and starts off the article: "Prominent jockey David Walker was yesterday charged with one of racing's most serious offences - deliberately holding a horse back from winning." In his last two paragraphs he writes: "The charge is identical to the one Australian great Damien Oliver faced in November 2012 when he was disqualified for ten months for pleading guilty to placing $10,000 on another runner which won, in a race in which he rode the beaten favourite. Walker failed to profit from his alleged efforts - Watch Your Man finished eighth, 6.3 lengths from the winner, Stella Bella, and the best St Ransom could do was fourth, 3.6 lengths from the winner." Firstly Mike, the horse that Damien backed was the favourite which won the race. Damien rode the second favourite and Damien was not charged with stopping his horse from winning which is contrary to the charge in your opening sentence. Walker did profit from his bet which was on a head to head basis ie the first of the two runners home. He did not back St Ransom to win or place as Mike has alluded to. He placed a bet in excess of $500 on St Ransom beating his mount Watch Your Man home. Come on Mike, this is sloppy work. .
  23. Happy Birthday Rumpers. Have a great one!!!
