  1. www.nzracing.co.nz/.../NZTR%20Pattern%20Review%202014.pdf Try this Jess. If not google Black Type Races NZ and it should be the first link.
  2. Jess There are a total of 147 black type races in NZ. G1 22 G2 22 G3 40 Listed 63 For a list of all these they can be found on the NZTR website or quickly you can google NZ group and listed races 2014/15 for a link.
  3. Leg them up and only utter two words.....Hurry home!!
  4. Are you happy now Richard Cranium At least it provides some information for Hermione and your contribution is ????? You are as bad as your mate Porty. If I owned an ocean I wouldn't give either of you a wave
  5. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. Although the word thoroughbred is sometimes used to refer to any breed of purebred horse, it technically refers only to the Thoroughbred breed. Thoroughbreds are considered "hot-blooded" horses, known for their agility, speed and spirit. The Thoroughbred as it is known today was developed in 17th- and 18th-century England, when native mares were crossbred with imported Oriental stallions of Arabian, Barb, and Turkoman breeding. All modern Thoroughbreds can trace their pedigrees to three stallions originally imported into England in the 17th century and 18th century, and to a larger number of foundation mares of mostly English breeding. During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Thoroughbred breed spread throughout the world; they were imported into North America starting in 1730 and into Australia, Europe, Japan and South America during the 19th century. Millions of Thoroughbreds exist today, and more than 118,000 foals are registered each year worldwide. Thoroughbreds are used mainly for racing, but are also bred for other riding disciplines such as show jumping, combined training, dressage, polo, and fox hunting. They are also commonly crossbred to create new breeds or to improve existing ones, and have been influential in the creation of the Quarter Horse, Standardbred, Anglo-Arabian, and various warmblood breeds. Thoroughbred racehorses perform with maximum exertion, which has resulted in high accident rates and health problems such as bleeding from the lungs. Other health concerns include low fertility, abnormally small hearts and a small hoof-to-body-mass ratio. There are several theories for the reasons behind the prevalence of accidents and health problems in the Thoroughbred breed, and research is ongoing

  7. Posted 07 December 2014 - 09:02 PM Pogo rdytdy, on 07 Dec 2014 - 7:10 PM, said: Rule 101...When Pogo bags a (NZ) horse just get on. Allez Eagle, Who Shot Thebarman etc etc. good to see the sausage crack it for an overdue win, congratscs to the connections but if you are looking for a future group one winner wait for king oscar ( aus) to make it's debut mate, or for zelda (aus) to resume next year. write those names on your fridge door, feed your kerosine or biscuit tin like fat albert and then unleash . rule 101 lmao Posted 07 December 2014 - 09:54 PM Rdytdy Volkstok'n'barrell (NZ) G1 Rosehill Guineas. Hope you placed it on the fridge door.
  8. She was a Decies mare. My memory banks tell me she was trained by Brian Deacon.
  9. Pogo Refer above to 7/12/2014.
  10. In all fairness I think the stewards are taking the piss here. Pollard should appeal and state that he is the new window cleaner and was going about his work in an appropriate manner. This was a unique product he was using and it gets a far better result than using lemon juice.
  11. BWD. Payco never won a Wellington Cup, he did win the 1983 NZ Cup though but never at those odds. Speculation won the Thorndon as you said which was on the last day of the 1981 Wellington Carnival and Payco won the 2400m open handicap so that would have been the double that day. Payco carried 47kgs and was ridden by Peter Tims. The Cup was run the first day and won by Koiro Trelay (Phillip Smith) and the Telegraph was won by Anderil (Chris McNab).
  12. I don't comment here but I have just watched R3 on TV at New Plymouth and was astounded at the drive of Arna Donnelly - don't know if this is a male or female? The horse Sheza Springfield. There was a passing lane in use there. After being three back pulled out before turning in and then spent 90% of the straight trying to get a gap to the outer. On the inner there was so much room you could drive three buses through it. Late in the straight the horse was switched back inside and ran home strongly. Was a certainty beaten in my opinion by an incompetent drive.
  13. Your memory is failing I think. You would have been packing yourself that day. He won by a nose!! He beat Lord Venture by a nose with 15 lengths back to Curdu. Dark Purple won the 1981 Grand National Hurdles and never started in a Grand National Steeplechase. Crown Star won the Grand National Steeplechase in 1985 and 1986 after winning the Grand National Hurdles in 1984. He started in the steeples in 1988 and was pulled up and his other run in it was in 1990 when third behind Thorley and that was Crown Star's last race.
  14. A couple of others: GUN FOR FUN: 84 starts for 15 wins. 67 on the flat for 10 wins, 16 hurdle starts for five wins including the Wellington Hurdles (1985)and the Grand National (1985). 1 steeple start - unplaced. Ran second in the Auckland Cup behind Stylish Dude 1984. BORRACK: 69 starts for 16 wins. 56 on the flat for 10 wins. 8 hurdle starts for 6 wins and 5 steeplechases for 2 wins. Won the Warrnambool Steeples and the Waikato Hurdles.
  15. Especially for you Pogo: TITCH: He had 63 starts for 18 wins. 15 on the flat and 3 over hurdles. From 5 starts as a hurdler he won the three and placed third in another and finished 2nd in his only steeplechase. All six jumping races he started in were in Australia. He won his maiden at start nine winning a maiden highweight at Foxton over 1600m on 7/8/2009. He made his debut over fences at Moe on 17/7/2010 winning. On 28/7/2010 he won again at Sandown and on 15/8/2010 he won the Houlahan Hurdle again at Sandown. (Winning his first three starts as a jumper.) After winning those three hurdle races he won a further 9 races on the flat. He returned to NZ and on 10/10/2010 came out at Wanganui and won a R90 1600m and then on 10/11/2010 won the open handicap at Riccarton. Three days later he ran a close second behind Showcause in the NZ Cup. Next start was on 8/1/2011 winning the Kumara Gold Nuggets. On 9/3/2011 he won the Auckland Cup. He returned to Australia to resume his jumping career and on 17/6/2012 ran fifth in a hurdle at Bendigo then ran third on 7/7/2012 at Warrnambool and then lined up in his only steeplechase finishing second in the Crisp Steeplechase behing Bashboy on 15/7/2012, his last jumping race. His last win was in the Terang Cup on 3/2/2013. Sadly he is no longer with us.
  16. Well...... Danielle is currently suspended following her ride in the Derby and is currently three wins behind Matt. Could it be, that someone looked at the way Matt rode yesterday and thought "gee, some of those rides weren't too flash. If he continues riding like that the Danielle has every show of beating him." And got on!!
  17. Jenny Cowan trained Clean Cut. He won 17 races from 92 starts 8 flat races 7 hurdles and 2 steeplechases. Ran 2nd in the Waikato Hurdles in 96, 3rd in 97 and won it in 98. Won both the Foxbridge and Whyte in 1996.
  18. Tiparillo had 10 wins from 1200m to 2200m. Won the Whyte Handicap, 2nd in the ARC Cornwall Handicap and WRC Gloaming SH and 3rd WRC Winter Oats.
  19. I remember Tiparillo by Better Honey out of Tarnu. I can't recall him winning the Parliamentary Handicap though.
  20. I believe Pogo only goes to Sydney once a year and I don't think they would let him to Randwick wearing make up and sequined tight little shorts
  21. One of the quickest front running horses that I have seen was the brilliant New Moon who was trained by Jock Harris at Woodville. She could fly. She won her first six or seven starts before narrowly going down to Ajasco in the Railway. She went to America not long after that and winning there.
