The Auckland Racing Club Winners Circle Syndicate is an ideal entry level introduction to horse racing ownership at a very affordable cost. We race three horses on lease in top stables. Horses are replaced if they do not meet reasonable expectations. Communication with the Syndicate is via regular email updates and a Facebook page. There are no management fees or commissions payable. The Syndicate entry fee is currently $150 per share to cover expenses for January and February 2012 – thereafter $75 per month per share is due by automatic bank payment from March 1st. There are no other costs and the syndicate is limited to 100 shares. We have just secured a new filly so the Syndicate now includes the following horses : PINZAARA – 3yo filly trained by Stephen McKee 100% lease share Due to start again @ Dargaville on Wednesday Feb 22nd. SO REGAL – 5yo mare trained by J Sargent (Riccarton stable) - 20% lease share . Due to start again Friday February 24th following a good first up third in her Sth Island debut two weeks ago, Unnamed FAST AND FAMOUS 2yo filly trained by Peter and Dawn Williams at Byerley Park – 100% lease share. The best email newsletter I have seen comes from Shane Kennedy. As well as general stable news there is a section titled "what your horse is up to" This information only goes to the owner/s of their particular horse, not to everyone. And thats the way it should be. Obviously takes them a bit more time to compile it this way, but its very professional.

Dick Francis was doing a book signing in Wellington a few years back, i was late from a meeting and when I got to Whitcoulls he had gone. I bought the book anyway and the store manager kindly offered to ring him at his nearby hotel to see if he would sign just one more. he agreed to meet me in the lobby and we ended up having a cuppa and chat for about half an hour. very nice man. i think the family always had considerable input in his work, in fact after his wife died i think it would be fair to say his books were never quite as good. perhaps the better half may have also been the smarter half. sounds like my house.
