Such a good initiative...... our dirty cousins just seem to be able to consistantly offer and deliver on product and initiatives that punters desire and in turn engage with... come on tab! No shame in borrowing some innovative initiatives to help stimulate positive revenue and reputation...

There are just so many aspects of this site that shows little if any thought or care the NZRB have for the racing punter .... many are major as discussed i.e. lagging, info inconsistency, compatibility issues, App issues, upfront and re-occurring costs associated etc etc... this is before you even get into the upfront build cost and how we have ended up here....
but like a lot of things in life, for me it is also the little things that sometimes count , and when these little things are missing... many and most times the reason these are missing is the supplier simply do not care and or have passion for what they are doing.... which kind of sums up a large reason why we as an industry are in our current position....
One of the little things for me is the info displayed on the race itself when either looking at tab platform of extended form.... 2 very interesting and important aspects for me around a race are its grade.... G1, 2, 3 listed etc and also what purse of the race is...... both these points help me establish seriousness of entrants from top to bottom along with caliber of entrants and just all and all gives me a full picture of the race prior to engaging in form, barrier, ground etc.... but these are deemed unimportant to list.... is this because of the share embarrassment of seeing the grade of race and purse in comparison to our Australian cobbers ... good example ..... 2YO 1400m lsited race for 50K @ Ellerslie, Listed WFO 2800 Flemington 400k... or is it as i said they really just dont care?? Seems Oz tab can easily list... Its the little things, as my punting may be a drip from a tap leaving the TAB as a customer.... a dripping tab still fills a cup and a leaking ship will eventually sink...

Is quite unbelievable how this continues to happen! Unfortunatley it seems the higher you go up the hierarchical ladder in our industry the more likely you are to lack the passion, knowledge, experience and basic ingrained "care of industry and participants" our code(s) require from these positons. I do understand the importance of having experience, success and longevity from a corproate/executive world. But it seems the so callled "cream of the crop" of this world we handsomly pay and input in these roles quickly become "split cream" in our world, and i can not help but attribute this poor success and lack of longevitity to the basic lack of above passion, knowledge etc mentioned. surely this needs to be an absolutle prerequisite when hiring the higher you go, no?

For what its worth Swynford i appreciated your posts and thoughts......and some like myself and family business partners are not leaving the industry but instead trying to make a real go of it, in the hope of at the very least creating a self sustaining business away from our current everyday jobs, hence always nice to get insights into others thoughts and views. Cheers

Thanks Wayne, Ali and team for a really nice afternoon/evening. We all really enjoyed ourselves and appreciate your effort
Great to see our boys looking so good, and ready for the ring.
Cheers, and good luck to all!

You only need glance at this Saturdays total purse for trentham to appreciate the leap of $$ neglect for other group races on card, let alone the majority of races where the majority of owners cheer their horses on(maid/70). 3 other group races and a OHCP make up a mare (no railway bias with this pun) quarter of these other races purse. We do not need, wont or industry appreciate these excessive fools gold races!
I'd be happy with that. Those that received Winston's dosh, were increased beyond their deserved levels. A poor spending decision. That would bring NZ onto a level somewhere between NT and SA. $150K major races, 25K support races, smaller days with 8 - 12K events. At least if I win 2 small races even in NT, I think I'd be better off than winning the same class of event in NZ, as an owner. I don't know costs there, but would imagine they are not disimilar to NZ - perhaps even less.
