This is a great comp - so please don't think I am moaning. Rather an observation that if a NZ racing site focuses more on aussie racing than our own - we really are in trouble.

I didn't know a lot about him outside the tipping etc. Quite a character too - RIP

Deane sadly passed away last night at Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital aged 54.
His contribution towards the racing industry was extraordinary living his entire life working within the industry he loved. R.I.P. 
 

No Southland Guineas, or Gold Cup?

What a great run from this horse all the way from Riverton. Had a lot of luck in the home straight.....all of it bad!! A really under rated type. Was awesome to see the South Island racing form stack up well too with the winner also successful in the Couplands Mile.

I don't expect to win the comp honouring Cubes but, hey, it's:
1. Fun
2. Different
3. Very well run
4. Still completely free to enter

Pool play
There will be five rounds of pool play, after which the play-offs will commence.  The 6 teams in pool C will play each other across those 5 rounds.  The teams in Pool A and Pool B won't obviously play each other team in their pool - they will play 4 or 5 matches against teams from their own pool.  Because there is an odd number of teams in Pools A & B, each week there will be one inter-pool (A&B) game.
 
Play-offs
As per the previous thread there will be 8 teams in the championship play-off - the top 2 two teams from each pool and the two 3rd placed teams with the best records.  We will also run a Plate play-off with the next 8 teams - the other 3rd placed team, the 4th and 5th placed teams and the best 6th placed team.
Best records will be determined by points earned, then by "goal diff", then by total dollars earned.
The play-offs will use the McIntyre Final 8 system, which gives some advantage to the higher seeded teams.  The play-offs will run over four weeks.

In the Championship the three pool winners will be the top three seeds - seeds 1, 2 & 3 determined by best records.  Seeds 4, 5 & 6 will be the 2nd placed teams in each pool, again split by best record, etc......

Lost footing due to a loose plate, not the track. Doubt that would have affected a meeting anywhere from proceeding. Track inspection found no issues.

You represent 5% of NZ TAB punters then. Only need to see how many on here comment about never opening an account overseas to confirm many on this site don't seem to worry about takeouts or price offered for a runner etc.

Spot on Ohaka. The premier league has a massive following. Note that Sky has a channel dedicated to the EPL (sky 58) as well as a Football channel (sky57) while the Rugby channel which used to be Sky 51 is now Rugby part time. Another example of Rugby dying which NZ Rugby is desperate to ignore.

Seriously, Mark McNamara was far superior. IMHO. Could not see Rail being invited to racing's mecca, could you?

I will refer back to one of my earlier replies about directing your anger towards the appropriate channels.  Nothing in your comprehensive list of grievances is the fault of BGP, regardless of how much emotive language and bitter snipes you use.
You conveniently ignore all the year round good they do for the racing community, because of a punters club that happens once or twice a year.
