  1. If the condition was diagnosed quickly the priority would have been to get the heartbeat back to normal rythym. Once this is done there is no reason to discontinue work. I would monitor the resting pulse rate and rate after exercise for some time to ensure a repeat episode does not occur. I do not think that you can guarantee it will not recur under race situation. zzz may be able to advise if there is a drug that has no withholding period to help this as I am unsure on that.
  2. This same condition is also a lot more common in Humans than thought. A number of endurance performane athletes have also suffered from Atrial Fibrillation. The greatest concern in humans is the risk of stroke from blood pooling in a chamber of the heart. Blood thinners such as Warfarin are prescribed to prevent the stroke risk. Often ultrascans are performed on the human to determine that there is no heart muscle damage and that all valves are in good working condition. As zzz has pointed out there is nothing stopping ongoing athletic performance.
  3. If the 54 ( or however many ) people paid 6 figure salaries at headoffice CANNOT come up with the answer, the first commitment needed is to reward someone here if they do come up with a Marketing ploy that will improve the industry. I believe that any idea implemented as a suggestion from Race Cafe deserves that at least, and it must come from the NZTR coffers not Cafe's!
  4. Bit like the 'Mermaid Bar' then is it?
  5. How many of these ladies own or are involved in the racing industry? Toni Marsh - TV 3 weather presenter owns at least one galloper! :y:
  6. Send that Midget back to CHCH - he must be having all sorts of trouble with that Jaffa culture!
  7. I take it then that when Midget, Yuilly, Hilly, PD and yourself are working the horses, you do not discuss the fluent action of this one or the choppy stride of another.
  8. Thanks for clarrifying what you are thinking and I agree with you. Now the real hypocrisy is these (be polite) people that bet with the parasites overseas and then bleat about the state of our industry! It is obvious that everyone see's different problems with racing here, I wish I had the answers, but alas I do not have them that will fix all. One thing I find a bit frustrating and hard to follow is that Problems and Solutions are bandied about on a great number of threads here on cafe. Would it be an idea for you to start a separate forum ( not Thread ) aimed solely at improving Racing in NZ? Why are you posting and not out riding work this morning?
  9. Yes - but is it not hypocrisy to then promote and expect the large Asian market to bet on our NZ product with returns to our industry?
  10. Be careful - you are letting too many secrets out of the bag! Before long everyone might know what the TAB website can provide. Why the Hell has there not been some form of communication from the TAB about this?
  11. What did you get? - Another pair of coloured spectacles? Have a drink for me!
  12. Yes you are right - you could also put Roughcast in that same category! Isn't it strange that some of our absolute top class performers were sired by stallions that never produced another horse with anything near that ability again.
  13. I meant no disrespect to Danny, I met him way back in the late 80's and totally agree one of the nicest people you could meet in the racing game. We always follow how his horses are going and have done so since the first Jahafil horse he had that was better than average. :y:
  14. I also see that one Danny Frye is making a comeback to race riding today! There is hope for the 'Super Moderator' yet!
  15. What ? - answering the phone for people that ring in with good ideas!
  16. Just like work ah - a simple question generates over $4,000 !!
  17. You'd have to look up to Ruud in a lineout, and you'd lose out on the scales too! Before PYT and Scooby jump in on the lies bit - yes I did ride work back in the days when Mrs v S and I had to get 2 horses worked before taking off on a 3 hour trip for the 1st race! Smartarse sat on my qtrs for a fair way too! Good to see the thread and goodwill back where it should be on this site. :y:
  18. Did you have to stand on a crate, or - did your friends 'put you up to it' ?
  19. With Linda Laing's 2yo - Precise winning the first 2yo trial in the North today! :y:
  20. Yeah - give us the waving hands...the friendly goodby wave, the hello wave, the digital wave and even the gayboy wave!
