Breeder reacted to g.irvine in Gorky Park
HI there, I just want to follow up on this thread. Gorky Park has now moved to the Manawatu, to reside at Dalacine Farm permanently. I am in retirement and wish to bred him to my small team of mares for his 21 Birthday. The aim is to race the resultant progeny with the hope of emulating another Gorbachev in adding to his stakes winning total.
I feel he is a much-underrated stallion with a great pedigree and proven breeding and racing results. Yes he missed the commercial pathway as many other stallions have done.
It's a fraught game and only very few reach the pinnacle of success. But under current new NZ racing, the little boys have another chance of worthwhile success and play at a level they can support.
Gorky Park looks great, not an old horse at all, He's has shown he's still very keen to meet the girls, something he hasn't done since 2018. He will be seeing mares from Zabeel Stravinsky Rip van Winkle and High Chaparral
I have put a token $1k service fee on him. No live foal guarantee, just a free return mating due to his age and unknown fertility status

    Some cynical buggers on here……
We all know Debbie Kepitis, along with the Tighe and Treweeke families, owned Winx and are now $27m better off because of it.
The attachment to the mare is obvious, and she was quoted as saying they did not intend to bid on the filly, but in recent weeks the family had realised how strong that attachment was, and the likelihood of her going overseas prompted the change of mind.
I think it is brilliant she put her hand up to keep her in Australia. Winx had already lost her first foal by I am Invincible which almost cost her life, and there was no guarantee she would have another one. ( Good news today that she is in foal to Snitzel  )
Woppit Bloodstock and Chris Waller will handle her as they did Winx. Whether she attains heights anywhere near Mum, time will tell, but even so the opportunity to carry on the bloodline down the track was no doubt another reason to keep her in Australia.
Good on them.Wish them all the best whichever way it goes.

So what they bid up to what they wanted to buy out the partnership...the American knew the score and tried to buy her...but in the end the heart ruled the head and she bought the partners out but how was it not good for racing and the whole industry...some good publicity so just dont see why the negativity...JMO

Well done to DK. I hope the filly turns out be a good one.
It turned out to be an auction to dissolve a partnership in the filly, by the look of it.

Plenty of Kiwi money being spent at the sale, especially by Dean Hawthorne ( about 10 purchases so far). I know Dean buys a lot for a Victorian outfit but they usually note that by putting Vic by Dean's name in the results. This year it is all NZ. But Te Akau, Roger James, Cambridge Stud, Stephen Marsh and few others are all buying.

Attached is the pedigree of Move to Strike - the newest group 1 winner for the no 22 Eulogy family, out of a 1st dam by influential dam sire Shamadal, from a Generous mare, from a Danehill mare, from a Marscay mare....also even a star kingdon mare tracing back to Eulogy herself...representing  a power house of damsires ...
Personally i think Shamadal may do better as a damsire than as a sire or sires (noting Darley who are clearly a better breeder than i am are betting big that i am wrong) - its just a hunch of mine and still trying to work out why...but im breeding accordingly.
    likely future sire in NZ?
    (no assoication).

Depends how well bred those champion mares were.  Sunline's breeding was a bit of a dead-end.
Just compare the black type on the yearlings mentioned above.  They wouldn't be in the Easter Sale without it.
